This article discusses the modernity of educational instruments, along with the phenomenon of technological progress, particularly the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI), and its implications for educators in the 21st century. Rapid advances in AI have led to fundamental shifts in teaching strategies and resources, shifting from traditional models to personalized and adaptive learning environments. Through automated assessments, curriculum customization, and the implementation of virtual assistants that enhance accessibility, artificial intelligence (AI) in education aims to improve efficiency and effectiveness. However, this modernity requires educators in the 21st century to change. Teachers now play the role of facilitators, designers of learning experiences, and mentors in ethics, in addition to being providers of knowledge. Teachers need to master AI literacy and focus on teaching students the four Cs of the 21st century: communication, creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork. The integration of AI raises ethical issues related to data privacy, the digital divide, and the dangers of plagiarism, but it also offers significant potential. Therefore, the effective integration of AI technology with irreplaceable human qualities is crucial for the success of contemporary educational technology. AI is an important tool for educators in the 21st century to develop a generation of technologically literate and moral individuals.

Academic writing skills are one of the essential aspects of developing students’ academic literacy from the beginning of their university studies. However, most first-year students in the 2025 academic year in the English Department, Faculty of Languages and Literature, Universitas Negeri Makassar, still face difficulties in understanding the structure, language, and ethic of academic writing. This community service aims to improve the academic literacy skills of first-year students through a comprehensive and practical academic writing training program. The implementation methods included several stages, namely pre-test, material presentation, writing exercise, and post-test. The Training materials covered the structure of scientific papers, the use of academic language, paraphrasing techniques, citation ethics, and reference management using reference manager tools. The participants consisted of 40 first-year students who took part in a full-day training session. The results showed a significant improvement in all assessment aspects, with the average score increasing from 56.8 in the pre-test to 83.9 in the post-test. The highest improvement was observed in the accuracy of citation and referencing, which increased by 33.2%. These findings indicate that the training effectively enhanced students’ understanding of systematic and ethical principles of academic writing. Therefore, this activity contributes to strengthening the academic culture and preparing students for academic writing during their studies.

Information was collected from various scientific references such as books, journals, and professional guidelines, then analyzed to formulate relevant ethical principles and strategies for implementing them in assessment practice. This technical guidance (bimtek) activity was held with the primary objective of improving the digital capacity of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) members of the Papua Gallery in Sorong City. The approach used was quite unique because it combined information technology, specifically the e-commerce platform Odoo, with a sociological perspective of religion. This approach places the values of faith, community ethics, and local culture as the main foundation in the digital transformation process being carried out. This activity was carried out by a team of lecturers from Victory University Sorong from the Information Systems and Sociology of Religion Study Program, and involved students as part of community service. The implementation process included several stages: an assessment of MSMEs' digital needs, technical training on using Odoo, direct assistance in implementing the dare store, evaluation of results, and ongoing follow-up. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in digital literacy among MSMEs, success in creating and managing online stores independently, and a growing awareness that business digitization is not only an economic necessity, but also part of spiritual and social responsibility. In addition, this activity also helped strengthen the branding and presence of local Papuan culture through digital media. This faith- and cultural-based training model has proven effective and relevant for replication in other MSME communities in different regions, especially those with strong local cultural and religious potential.
