Community Service Program (KKN) is one of the community engagement activities that involves students in contributing directly to community empowerment and sustainable development. The KKN program implemented in Candinegoro Village focused on the socialisation and application of micro-scale catfish farming technology as an effort to support food security through city farming initiatives. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach with a participatory method, in which students acted as facilitators, trainers, and companions for the community throughout the program. The activities included socialisation, technical training, and mentoring related to catfish cultivation, covering aspects such as the selection of superior seeds, effective feed management, water quality monitoring, and the innovative use of plastic drums as alternative farming media. The results showed a significant increase in community knowledge and practical skills in fish farming, alongside a growing interest in developing post-harvest innovations such as processed catfish products to enhance added value and income. Furthermore, the program strengthened community awareness of the importance of sustainable urban farming practices as a solution to limited land availability. Overall, this program not only improved community capacity in aquaculture but also promoted local food self-sufficiency and economic resilience, in line with the government’s Asta Cita agenda to strengthen national food security and community empowerment.

This community service program was designed to strengthen the competitive value of coffee bean processing through a combination of practical field training and structured mentoring for rural communities. The activity took place on June 29, 2025, in Motung Village, Ajibata District, Toba Regency, and involved 20 local participants representing farming households. The implementation model emphasized a participatory and hands-on approach, where participants were directly engaged in coffee bean processing techniques under the guidance of academic experts and field mentors. This initiative was a collaborative effort between Universitas Murni Teguh PSDKU Pematangsiantar, Politeknik Bisnis Indonesia, and the Farmer and Fishermen Association (KTNA) Pematangsiantar. The program’s primary objectives were to enhance local community skills in post-harvest coffee processing, to raise product quality standards, and to generate added value that would enable rural producers to compete in wider markets. Through structured mentoring, participants received continuous assistance that ensured they could apply the acquired knowledge and skills independently after the training activities concluded. The results demonstrated significant improvements in participants’ understanding and technical capacity, particularly in the areas of sorting, drying, roasting, and packaging coffee beans. These competencies allowed the local community to produce higher-quality coffee products that meet market expectations and enhance competitiveness. Furthermore, the program strengthened the link between academic knowledge, practical field skills, and local wisdom, which together form the foundation for sustainable rural empowerment. By improving coffee bean processing capacity, the initiative is expected to increase household income, foster an entrepreneurial spirit, and support the long-term development of Toba’s rural economy. In this way, the program not only equips the community with technical expertise but also contributes to broader goals of economic sustainability and social resilience in the region.

This study aims to identify the success of freshwater fish farming in increasing community income and to assess the economic impact of the community through freshwater fish farming on increasing community income in Sei Ijum Raya Village, East Kotawaringin Regency. This study starts from research preparation, data collection, data processing, to processing the results. The data collected are primary data and secondary data. Primary data is obtained through direct observation and interviews with freshwater fish farming business managers using a questionnaire and interview list. Secondary data is obtained from literature studies, related agencies, the Swadaya Service and other sources that can support this research. In the freshwater fish farming business in Sei Ijum Raya Village, the marketing strategy implemented includes sales to permanent collectors, local markets, and local collectors at varying prices, which still generate profits. The results of the study showed that income from freshwater fish farming reached IDR 30,000,000 per year, although it was still lower than the income of fish-ermen which averaged IDR 60,000,000 per year. The economic impact of this business increased by 50% per year, allowing farmers to meet the economic needs of their families. Although the community operates with their own capital and limited knowledge, significant harvest success and increasing market demand indicate that good management can increase yields. This study also found that the difference in success between farmers who have capital and those who do not have capital reached 30%, confirming the importance of access to capital in improving the economic welfare of the community
