The global economic crisis has prompted developing countries, including the BRICS group (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa), to strengthen cooperation in creating a multipolar economic order as a form of resistance to Western domination. Mass media plays a crucial role in framing this dynamic. This study aims to examine how The Jakarta Post constructs the BRICS narrative through three main dimensions in Vincent Mosco's Political Economy of Communication theory: commodification, spatialization, and structuring. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques in the form of documentation and analysis of news published in The Jakarta Post between June 18, 2024, and January 31, 2025. Data were categorized based on the type of information and main themes, then analyzed using Mosco's theoretical concepts. The results show that the commodification process occurs when geopolitical issues, such as Indonesia's opportunity to join BRICS, are transformed into media commodities appealing to elite readers and strategic economic actors. This practice also involves the contribution of experts, but often without equitable compensation. Spatialization is reflected in the real-time distribution of digital content that transcends geographical and temporal boundaries, strengthening the penetration of BRICS discourse into the international public sphere. Structuralization emerges in the narrative of building a new world order through BRICS agendas such as dedollarization, technological integration, and alternative payment systems, although it remains overshadowed by the dominance of Western financial institutions. Thus, media coverage not only represents geopolitical dynamics but also transforms strategic issues into information products with economic value, while revealing the tension between the aspirations of developing countries and established global hegemony.

The political crisis in Myanmar following the 2020 election and the 2021 military coup has created instability in both domestic and international security. This study employs a qualitative method with a literature review approach to analyze the impact of the coup on regional security and ASEAN's response. The findings reveal that the coup led by General Min Aung Hlaing's military junta not only threatened Myanmar's democracy but also triggered human rights violations, economic crisis, and refugee exodus. ASEAN, through mechanisms such as the ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation (AIPR), has attempted to mediate the conflict using a non-interventionist approach, yet its effectiveness is considered weak compared to sanctions imposed by Western countries such as the United States and the European Union. The main challenges for AIPR include its limited mandate, divergent interests among member states, and ASEAN's principle of respecting national sovereignty. This study concludes that a sustainable solution requires a multidimensional approach involving both international pressure and inclusive dialogue with all stakeholders in Myanmar.

The condition of a country experiencing an economic crisis can have a very broad impact on the country, one of which is the lack of domestic employment opportunities, resulting in an increase in the number of unemployed people, which leads to the goverment’s helplessness to overcome poverty. This causes citizens to flock to work abroad. The handling must be balanced with cooperation with several parties, not only the government, and implementers of labor placement but also to prospective workers so that legal problems do not arise between workers and those who provide work. This study aims to analyze efforts to overcome the crime of trafficking in persons for Indonesian migrant workers. This research uses normative juridical and empirical juridical approaches to understand the obstacles and challenges in handling human trafficking cases.

The maritime conflict between Indonesia and China in the South China Sea arises from overlapping claims, particularly concerning Indonesia’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) near the Natuna Islands. China’s assertion of sovereignty through its Nine-Dash Line, which Indonesia does not recognize under the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), has fueled tensions. These have been exacerbated by aggressive actions, including Chinese vessels' incursions and illegal fishing within Indonesia’s EEZ. Despite these conflicts, both nations emphasize maritime cooperation to enhance bilateral ties. This study examines the dynamics of Indonesia-China maritime cooperation and conflicts in the South China Sea and their implications for regional stability. Employing a literature-based methodology, it investigates challenges and potential resolutions, including diplomacy and third-party mediation through bodies like the International Court of Justice. The findings highlight that resolving disputes effectively requires a legal framework and multilateral collaboration through ASEAN. The study concludes with recommendations for bolstering diplomatic engagement and sustainably managing maritime resources to ensure stability across the Indo-Pacific region.

The Suez Canal has played a significant role in assisting and expediting the delivery of heavy goods on cargo ships from Asia to Europe, accommodating 12 percent of total global trade. The Suez Canal is a very important source of foreign currency for Egypt, a country that is still grappling with a variety of long-standing economic problems. Since October 2023, Yemen's Houthi group has been targeting ships in the Red Sea that it claims are connected to Israel in solidarity with Palestinians facing Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip. This ongoing tension in the Red Sea not only impacts the Suez Canal, but also the maritime transportation market, trade movements, and international supply chains, as taking alternative routes means increasing shipping time and operating costs. Despite its important role as an international shipping lane, The Suez Canal has experienced a decline in status on the global stage due to various geopolitical events and economic crises that have occurred. This study aims to analyze the reciprocal relationship between international market dynamics and the strategic role of the Suez Canal. The chapter begins with an analysis of the impact of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on international trade flows through the Suez Canal, followed by a discussion of the impact of the global economic crisis and conflict mitigation efforts on maritime security of shipping traffic. Finally, this chapter provides solutions that can be offered from the perspective of maritime security theory and international conflict theory.

The purpose of this research is to find out the strategies of the G20 countries in anticipating the threat of the global crisis in Indonesia. This study uses qualitative methods with a descriptive approach to be able to describe in depth. The G-20 believes that a solution to the economic crisis requires continuous global cooperation. Through this collaboration, the best ways to resolve the crisis are formulated, both what must be done by each member country of the G-20 and what must be done by and through international financial institutions. In addition, being in the G-20 provides an opportunity for Indonesia to take a closer look at how developed countries make policies and then implement them in Indonesia if deemed good and appropriate. Each country must pursue a number of policies in an effort to respond to the crisis through fiscal stimulus, stimulate recovery of economic growth again in the crisis era, and then strive for economic stability that is resistant to similar crises in the future through strengthening the domestic financial sector.
