Clean and healthy living habits are an essential foundation in shaping a generation that is mindful of personal and environmental health. These habits need to be instilled from an early age, both at school and at home, so that they can become a sustainable part of students' lifestyles. This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of students at SD Negeri 1 Mertoyudan in consistently applying Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors (PHBS) in their daily lives. The implementation methods comprised three main approaches: interactive discussion-based education, a demonstration of proper handwashing techniques in accordance with WHO standards, and hands-on practice in maintaining personal hygiene. These approaches were chosen to ensure that students not only understand the concept of PHBS theoretically but are also able to apply it independently in real-life situations. The results of the activity showed a significant improvement in students' understanding of the importance of washing hands with soap at critical moments as a form of personal hygiene responsibility. Through a demonstrative approach that involved active student participation, participants were able to practice proper personal hygiene steps accurately and confidently. This activity is hoped to have a long-term impact in shaping students who are disciplined, responsible, and attentive to both personal and environmental health, while also serving as an effective preventive measure in reducing the risk of infectious diseases among school-age children.

The implementation of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) begins at an early age, particularly among school children, who learn extensively from their surrounding environment through the School Health Program (UKS). Although the family is the primary unit in shaping PHBS habits, parents’ busy schedules often lead children to interact more with teachers and peers at school. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the UKS program on students’ PHBS at SD Lambaro Angan, Darussalam District, Aceh Besar Regency in 2024. This research employed a cross-sectional design with a population of 321 students and a sample of 76 respondents. Data collection was conducted on March 4, 2024. The results indicate that the UKS program has a significant effect on students’ PHBS, including habits such as washing hands with running water and soap, purchasing healthy snacks at the school canteen, disposing of waste properly, participating in physical exercise, not smoking at school, eliminating mosquito larvae, and using school sanitation facilities (p < 0.05). However, no significant effect was found on activities such as weighing body weight and measuring height. In conclusion, the UKS program is effective in improving students’ PHBS. These findings are expected to provide input for schools to optimize the implementation of UKS and enhance PHBS promotion so that students can apply clean and healthy living behaviors in their daily lives.

This study aims to describe dietary patterns, food consumption habits, hygiene awareness, and environmental and social factors related to digestive disorders in junior high school students. This study used a descriptive approach with a closed-ended interview method (Yes/No answers) with Thirty-five  junior high school students using 15 questions. The results showed that some students did not have consistent breakfast habits, had a high tendency to consume fried foods and sugary drinks, and demonstrated low awareness of food safety and hygiene habits such as washing hands before eating. In addition, the school environment, peer influence, and psychological well-being influence students’ eating patterns. These factors contribute to digestive problems in some students. Therefore, schools must actively participate in maintaining a clean environment, providing students with healthy food options, and providing ongoing nutritional instruction on digestive health.

This community service activity aims to increase awareness and independence of elementary school students in maintaining hand hygiene through education on proper handwashing. The background to this activity stems from the low level of handwashing habits among school-age children, despite hand hygiene being a simple action that has a significant impact on preventing infectious diseases. Based on initial observations at Tamanbali 3 Public Elementary School, most students did not yet have the habit of washing their hands before eating or after playing, despite the availability of facilities. Therefore, a hand hygiene education program was implemented, designed to help students understand the importance of proper handwashing according to WHO guidelines. The activity methods included outreach through educational posters and videos, demonstrations of the seven steps of handwashing, mentoring in daily habits, and evaluation of behavioral changes. The results of the activity showed a significant improvement in students' hand hygiene behavior. Students began washing their hands independently before eating and after activities without being reminded by teachers. The school environment also became cleaner and healthier due to the growing awareness of personal hygiene among students. Teachers and the school are committed to continuing this habit as part of the daily classroom routine. This activity demonstrates that hand hygiene education delivered through interactive methods can shape character and hygiene habits from an early age.

Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) is a strategic effort to improve public health from an early age. Elementary schools are ideal environments to instill PHBS values because children are at a developmental stage where habits are easily shaped. However, observations show that many students still have poor hygiene habits, such as not washing hands properly, consuming unsafe snacks, and neglecting school cleanliness. This PHBS education activity through the School Health Program (UKS) aims to improve students’ knowledge, attitudes, and healthy living practices. The implementation methods include interactive health education, handwashing demonstrations, environmental cleanliness simulations, and classroom cleanliness competitions. The evaluation results show a significant increase in students’ PHBS knowledge from 56% to 92%, accompanied by positive behavioral changes such as regular handwashing and proper waste disposal. This program demonstrates that an educational approach through UKS is effective in fostering clean and healthy living habits among elementary school students. It is expected that similar programs will continue sustainably with the involvement of teachers, health workers, and parents to create a healthy and supportive school environment for children’s growth and development.

Community diagnosis is a strategic step that aims to identify fundamental problems in the community, determine problem priorities, and formulate appropriate solutions to overcome them. One of the identified health issues is a significant increase in cases of mumps (epidemic parotitis), an acute infectious disease caused by the mumps virus, a member of the Rubulavirus genus. This increase in cases was recorded in the Puskesmas work area from the beginning of the year to November 2024. This phenomenon raises concerns regarding the potential for widespread health problems at the community level. Therefore, this intervention activity was carried out with the hope of reducing the incidence of mumps in the Puskesmas work area. The methodology applied in this activity includes data collection through mini surveys, analysis of health determinants using the Blum Paradigm, determination of problem priorities through the Delphi method, and identification of root causes using a fishbone diagram. Based on the results of this analysis, the interventions implemented include counseling on mumps and preventive measures, as well as demonstrations of proper hand washing. The results of the intervention showed a significant increase in knowledge, where all participants (n=40, 100%) obtained a post-test score of ≥ 7, indicating a good understanding of the material presented. In the demonstration session, a number of participants were also able to demonstrate the steps for washing hands according to the correct procedure. From the results of the analysis, it was found that the increase in mumps cases in this area was closely related to community lifestyle factors. Therefore, this intervention is expected to not only increase community knowledge about mumps, but also encourage the implementation of clean and healthy living behaviors, especially in the practice of washing hands, as a preventive measure to reduce the number of transmissions and accelerate case handling.

Providing education on how to wash hands properly is an important effort to increase awareness of clean and healthy living, especially for young children. Children at this age are in a very rapid developmental stage, so the information and habits taught are more easily absorbed and formed into daily behavior. However, children's awareness and understanding of the importance of hygiene, especially handwashing, is still relatively low. Therefore, health education is essential to instill good habits from an early age. Washing hands with soap is one of the Clean and Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors (PHBS) that is effective in preventing the spread of various types of diseases, especially diseases transmitted through hands, such as diarrhea, ARI, and skin infections. PHBS about handwashing must be a habit applied in daily life, both in the family, school, and community environment. This educational activity was carried out at St. Francis Xaverius Pineleng Catholic Kindergarten with the aim of increasing knowledge and forming handwashing behavior according to the six recommended handwashing steps. The implementation method included providing educational materials, showing a video song that teaches the six steps of handwashing, demonstrations by the implementer, and direct practice by the children with movements and songs. The results of the activity showed an increase in children's knowledge and skills in washing their hands properly. The children demonstrated enthusiasm and active participation during the educational process. It is hoped that teachers and parents will continue to encourage children to practice hand hygiene to prevent illness and foster healthy lifestyles from an early age.

Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) is one of the preventive efforts in maintaining individual health, with washing hands with soap (CTPS) as one of its main aspects. Elementary school children are among the groups that are vulnerable to disease due to lack of awareness of cleanliness, so socialization is needed to increase their understanding of the importance of CTPS. This study aims to socialize PHBS and how to do CTPS to students of SD 7 Nisam, North Aceh, through interactive educational methods. The activities were carried out by presenting material using PowerPoint, interactive discussions, direct practice of the six steps of CTPS according to WHO standards, and evaluation through questionnaires before and after the activity. The results of the activity showed that the method applied succeeded in increasing students' understanding of the importance of washing hands with soap. Students were more enthusiastic in participating in activities when given an interesting approach that was appropriate for their age. In addition, the involvement of teachers and schools in providing supporting facilities contributed to the success of this program. With this socialization, it is hoped that students can apply the habit of washing their hands independently and consistently, both at school and at home, so that it can reduce the incidence of infectious diseases related to hand hygiene.
