This design project is motivated by the low public interest in sports and the limited availability of sports facilities, creating a need for a sports hall that is both effective and efficient in enhancing the community’s quality of life. However, the mere provision of a sports facility is not sufficient; considerations such as building orientation, opening design, and airflow circulation are essential to create an optimal environment for sports activities. Therefore, the tropical architecture approach serves as the primary design basis for the sports hall in Asahan Regency. The aim of this design is to support a healthy lifestyle and improve the quality of life of the local community through comfortable and safe sports activities. The design method adopts a qualitative approach, with data collected through interviews and field observations to understand the needs and preferences of the community. The design also reflects local identity through a mass transformation inspired by the shell form, symbolizing the city of Asahan. The shell structure system is known for its slenderness, making it lightweight and efficient, while its curvature ensures even load distribution. This approach can serve as a model for future sports facility developments in Asahan Regency. This sports hall is expected to become a central hub for athletes in Asahan, providing optimal training facilities to improve their performance. With a modern building and complete facilities, the community can engage in sports activities more comfortably and safely, thus increasing public interest in sports and enhancing overall well-being. This design also aims to promote awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle through an effective and efficient sports center.

Ineffective management of household waste in rural areas, such as Aek Korsik Village, Aek Ledong District, Asahan Regency, causes air pollution due to traditional waste burning practices. This research aims to design and implement an environmentally friendly low-smoke waste incinerator as an alternative solution based on simple technology and local resources. The research methods used are technological engineering approaches and field studies, including tool design, trials, and environmental and social impact evaluation. The furnace is designed using heat-resistant local materials and mild steel, features a dual ventilation system and a smoke exhaust system with a simple filter, and has a combustion capacity of 5 kilograms per cycle. Preliminary studies show that the composition of waste is dominated by organic matter (60%), plastic and paper (30%), as well as the rest are inorganic. Testing over several weeks showed that an average burn time of 1.5 hours was able to reduce smoke emissions by up to 60% compared to conventional methods. The air quality around the test site has improved significantly, and the community has responded positively to the ease of use and environmental benefits of the furnace. This study concludes that low-smoke combustion furnaces are effective as environmentally friendly waste management solutions in villages, with recommendations for increasing combustion capacity and integrating other waste management methods to support sustainability and environmental preservation.

This Letter Archiving Information System is designed to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of document management at the Department of Manpower Office in Asahan Regency. The system focuses on managing incoming and outgoing letters, which are routine tasks performed by an agenda officer as part of administrative duties. The management of incoming letters includes receiving, verifying, recording, and archiving, while outgoing letter management begins with drafting and continues to the delivery process. To support these processes, the system separates the management of letters into two main parts: incoming and outgoing letters. For incoming letters, data such as letter number, date, content, attachments, and destination are recorded and stored automatically. Meanwhile, outgoing letters follow a similar format to streamline the recording process and minimize manual errors. The system is developed using web-based technology, including HTML and other supporting tools, to ensure flexibility and ease of access for users. With the implementation of this system, it is expected that letter archiving can be carried out more efficiently, effectively, and accurately, thereby improving administrative performance at the Department of Manpower Office in Asahan Regency.

This community service program aims to build religious awareness in the community through Maghrib Tilawah activities at the At-Takwa Mosque, Baru Village, Asahan Regency. This program focuses on children and adolescents, with the aim of getting them used to reading the Qur'an after Maghrib prayers. In this activity, participants are accompanied by ustadz and Community Service (KKN) students who provide guidance on tajwid and correct reading. In addition to improving the ability to read the Qur'an, this activity also teaches Islamic moral values and behavior through short lectures delivered after the tilawah session. Based on the results of observations, this activity succeeded in attracting the active participation of around 30 participants each night. The positive impact can be seen from the increase in the ability to read the Qur'an and changes in the behavior of participants who become more religious. Some challenges in implementing the program include fluctuations in the number of participants and the need for extra guidance for children who still have limitations in reading the Qur'an. With continuous evaluation and adjustment, this program is expected to continue to contribute to increasing religious awareness in the community, as well as creating a strong foundation for the future Qur'anic generation.
