Caring behavior is the core of high-quality nursing services. In practice, it is influenced by various psychological factors and work-related stress. Self-compassion and mindfulness are believed to help nurses maintain emotional balance in delivering empathetic and humane nursing care. This study aims to analyze the effect of self-compassion and mindfulness on nurses’ caring behavior, with work stress as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was used. Descriptive analysis employed the Three Box Method, while inferential analysis used SEM-PLS. The study population consisted of all nurses at Cilincing District General Hospital (N = 113), using total sampling. The results of the study indicate that the proposed model is considered fit (p = 0.133) and appropriate for testing the influence of self-compassion and mindfulness on caring behavior, with work stress as a mediating variable. Self-compassion has a significant positive effect on caring behavior (p = 0.000), while mindfulness does not have a direct effect (p = 0.891), but shows a significant indirect effect through the reduction of work stress (p = 0.044). Both self-compassion (p = 0.029) and mindfulness (p = 0.000) negatively affect work stress. Interestingly, work stress positively influences caring behavior (p = 0.030). To enhance the influence of self-compassion and mindfulness on caring behavior, hospitals should develop psychological intervention programs based on self-compassion and mindfulness to help nurses manage stress and strengthen caring practices. A systemic approach that considers organizational factors is also necessary to support the consistent implementation of caring behavior.

This study was conducted at Family Pharmacy in Pekanbaru City with the objective of examining the relationship between emotional intelligence and work stress, as well as their combined effect on employee performance. The research population consisted of all 150 employees in the production department. Using the Slovin formula, a sample of 60 respondents was selected through accidental sampling. Data collection was carried out via an online questionnaire distributed through Google Forms. The analytical methods employed were correlation analysis to assess the relationship between variables and multiple linear regression to measure their simultaneous influence on performance. The results indicated a negative relationship between emotional intelligence and work stress, meaning that employees with higher emotional intelligence tended to experience lower levels of work stress. Furthermore, when examined together, emotional intelligence and work stress had a significant impact on employee performance. Specifically, these two variables contributed 47.4% to the variance in performance, while the remaining 52.6% was influenced by other factors not addressed in this study. The findings highlight the importance of emotional intelligence as a critical factor in managing workplace stress and enhancing performance, especially in the pharmaceutical industry where precision, cooperation, and adaptability are essential. Improving employees’ emotional intelligence may serve as a strategic approach to reducing work-related stress and fostering better performance outcomes. Organizations are therefore encouraged to invest in training and development programs that emphasize emotional regulation, empathy, interpersonal skills, and effective communication. Future research should consider incorporating additional variables such as work motivation, organizational culture, leadership style, and job satisfaction to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the determinants of employee performance. Expanding the research scope to different departments and industries could also provide broader insights into how emotional intelligence and work stress interact across diverse work settings.

Workers in Bandar Lampung's coffee shop sector are particularly susceptible to stress. The purpose of this study is to ascertain how job stress affects employee engagement while controlling for mindfulness. Stress at work is the independent variable that is employed. Employee involvement is employed as the dependent variable. Mindfulness is the moderating variable employed. All of the Generation Z workers in the Bandar Lampung coffee shop sector made up the study's demographic. Purposive sampling was the technique employed, and the sample size consisted of 133 workers from coffee shops. A Likert-scaled questionnaire was employed as the data collection tool in this investigation. Simple linear regression and moderation regression analysis are used in this research analysis technique. The study's findings suggest that work stress has a substantial and detrimental impact on employee engagement and that mindfulness does not mitigate this effect in the case of Generation Z workers in Bandar Lampung's coffee shop sector. The study's conclusion is that the coffee shop should focus more on the responsibilities assigned to its staff members' tasks and modify the workload in accordance with their skill levels.
