This study aims to examine the physical representation of women based on gynocritical theory, as constructed through diction and figures of speech via stylistic analysis. This is a qualitative study employing a descriptive method. The data source for this study is the poetry anthology “Catatan-Catatan dari Bulan” by Rieke Saraswati, while the research data consists of quotations (containing diction and figures of speech) that represent the physical aspects of women. The data collection techniques used are documentation and note-taking. The documentation technique was used to identify primary data, namely the poetry anthology “Catatan-Catatan dari Bulan” by Rieke Saraswati, while the read-and-note technique was used to identify the diction and figures of speech that represent the physical aspects of women. The data analysis technique in this study is textual analysis through two approaches: stylistic analysis to dissect vocabulary and figures of speech, and gynocritical analysis to examine the physical representation of women. The findings reveal that the physical representation of women is constructed through vocabulary and figures of speech, including bodily anatomy, physiological conditions, and biological experiences. These findings confirm that female poets incorporate their unique experiences into the creation of literary works, which aligns with a central theory in gynocriticism, the physical experience of women.

This study aims to analyze the influence of self-efficacy on the motivation of the characters Desi and Aini in Andrea Hirata's novel Guru Aini based on Albert Bandura's Social Cognitive Theory. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method with a literary psychology approach. The research data consisted of textual excerpts illustrating the characters' behaviors, thoughts, and attitudes, which were collected through literature review using reading, observation, and note-taking techniques. Data were analyzed based on the four sources of self-efficacy, namely mastery experiences, vicarious experiences, verbal persuasion, and physiological and emotional states. The findings reveal that the motivation of both Desi and Aini is shaped by the interaction of these four sources of self-efficacy. Desi's self-efficacy is reflected in her perseverance, idealism, self-evaluation, and commitment as an educator despite encountering various teaching challenges. Meanwhile, Aini's self-efficacy develops through her learning experiences, Guru Desi's exemplary role, verbal encouragement from her social environment, and a strong emotional drive to fulfill her aspiration of becoming a doctor in order to treat her father. Overall, this study demonstrates that self-efficacy plays a crucial role in developing and sustaining the motivation of both characters, while also contributing to the advancement of literary psychology studies by providing a deeper understanding of the psychological dynamics of literary characters.

Social media has become a primary platform for information dissemination and public opinion formation, making language use a crucial factor in shaping audience perceptions. One phenomenon that attracted widespread public attention was the viral blocking and subsequent restoration of Vilmei's TikTok account, which generated various forms of communication directed toward her followers. The uploaded content served not only as a means of communication but also demonstrated the use of figurative language capable of evoking emotions, fostering empathy, and encouraging audience engagement. This study aims to describe the types of figurative language employed in Vilmei's TikTok content and explain their functions in constructing meaning and influencing public responses. The study adopted a descriptive qualitative approach using stylistic analysis. The data consisted of utterances and textual content found in Vilmei's TikTok videos uploaded during the account blocking and restoration period. Data were collected through documentation, observation, and note-taking techniques, while data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model. The findings reveal that the dominant language styles include metaphor, repetition, hyperbole, and emotive diction, which function to strengthen emotional expression, build emotional closeness with followers, enhance audience engagement, shape the creator's self-image, and influence public responses. This study demonstrates that language style plays an essential role in creating effective communication on social media and can serve as a reference for language studies and digital literacy.

The news of the death of Affan Kurniawan, an online motorcycle taxi driver who lost his life in clashes during demonstrations in Jakarta, sparked an extraordinary public reaction and gave rise to the narrative of "Justice for Affan." This information not only conveyed facts but also shaped the construction of justice and social emotions through media rhetorical techniques. This study aims to analyze how the narrative of justice and social emotions was formed in the reporting of Affan's death, using the perspective of Aristotle's rhetoric, which consists of Ethos, Pathos, and Logos. The method applied was descriptive qualitative analysis, focusing on news texts from the international news portal The Straits Times. The results of the analysis indicate that Ethos was constructed through the selection of sources deemed credible, such as the victim's family and official statements from authorities; Pathos was reflected in the use of emotional language, depictions of grief, and representations of public anger; while Logos was demonstrated through the presentation of the sequence of events and supporting evidence. These findings indicate that reporting is not merely neutral but uses rhetorical strategies to create empathy, solidarity, and demands for justice among the audience. Thus, this analysis underscores the importance of rhetoric in mass media in influencing public perceptions and social reactions to tragic events.

This study aims to describe the form and sociolinguistic function of Generation Z language representation used by content creator Fujianti Utami Putri on social media. A descriptive qualitative approach with content analysis method was applied to dissect this linguistic phenomenon deeply. The data source consists of an audio-visual document from a single video titled "Mau ketemu bayiiiii" (2026), lasting 1 minute and 53 seconds, downloaded from the official TikTok account @fujiiian. The research data includes words, phrases, and sentences in oral utterances as well as on-screen text that contain the linguistic characteristics of the younger generation. Data collection used the observation method through the Uninvolved Conversation Observation Technique (SBLC) and note-taking technique. Data analysis was completed through data reduction, data display in matrix tables, contextual interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The results show 12 data units classified into four main categories: first, English code-switching (stress relief, glowing, glass skin), second, regional dialects adapted into national slang (sat-set and ruwet), third, creative affixation neologisms (ngonten), and fourth, hyperbolic dictions (mantul). Functionally, this hybrid language variety acts as a strategic sociolinguistic instrument to strengthen the collective identity among Generation Z while breaking down formality barriers between a public figure and the audience to build emotional intimacy. This phenomenon proves that the Indonesian language is a living entity that continues to evolve creatively amidst digital technology disruption.

This study aims to examine the construction of critical discourse against elitism and materialism in the lyrics of Iwan Fals' song "Bento" using Teun A. Van Dijk's Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) approach. The CDA approach considers discourse as a social practice that demonstrates the relationship between ideology and power in society. This research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method with text analysis of micro, macro, and superstructure. The results show that the lyrics of the song "Bento" demonstrate a critique of elitism by depicting the character "Bento" as a symbol of an arrogant, exclusive, and alienated elite class. On the other hand, the lexical choices that emphasize material possession as a means of legitimizing social status and power are translated as materialism. The song "Bento" functions not only as a work of art but also as a tool for social criticism that encourages discussion about resistance to materialism and elitism in society

Digital transformation has introduced the TikTok addiction phenomenon into elementary schools, triggering behavioral and cognitive disruptions among students. The urgency of this study is based on findings of internal noise and intrusive behaviors that hinder the knowledge transfer process in the classroom. This study aims to analyze the manifestations of TikTok addiction and its impact on students' learning habits. This qualitative research employed a case study design. Data were collected through passive participant observation, in-depth interviews with 2 teachers and 5 students, and documentation studies. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Findings indicate that TikTok addiction manifests as: (1) Concentration disorders due to the dominance of viral content such as "Tabola Bale" songs and "velocity" movements in students' minds; (2) Physical fatigue and acute procrastination leading to the loss of study time at home; and (3) Early social imitation through symbols like "black bracelets" indicating age-inappropriate adult behavior. The root cause was identified as personal gadget access starting from preschool age (Kindergarten). TikTok addiction fundamentally undermines students' learning habituation. The implication is that a collaborative strategy between schools and parents is necessary to strengthen digital literacy from an early age to mitigate the negative impacts of technology.

This study examines the ideological construction of meaning in Kompas TV news reporting on the Prabowo-Gibran cabinet's budget efficiency policy. The news article, published on February 19, 2025, juxtaposes public sector cuts with substantial official uniform allocations, suggesting inherent bias. While previous research has analyzed this text using Peirce's semiotics alone, this paper adopts a multi-theoretical framework incorporating Ferdinand de Saussure, Charles Sanders Peirce, Roland Barthes, and Umberto Eco to achieve a more comprehensive critical analysis. Through qualitative semiotic analysis, the study reveals that linguistic choices such as "was-was" and "fantastis" strategically shape ideological narratives at syntagmatic and paradigmatic levels. Peirce's triadic model identifies the official uniform as an icon of bureaucratic excess, budget figures as causal indexes, and efficiency terminology as contested symbols undergoing unlimited semiosis. Barthes' denotation-connotation-myth framework exposes a hidden myth portraying officials enjoying luxury while citizens endure austerity. Eco's perspective demonstrates that the news functions as a closed text, channeling readers toward a dominant interpretation by exploiting Indonesian cultural units and collective distrust in bureaucracy. These findings affirm that news texts are not neutral but active sites of ideological meaning construction, underscoring the necessity of critical media literacy.

Critical literacy is an essential competency that needs to be developed in Indonesian language learning to meet the demands of twenty-first-century education. Students are expected not only to understand information literally but also to analyze, evaluate, and reflect on various forms of information critically. This study aims to analyze the critical literacy content embedded in the Grade VII Indonesian language textbook used in junior high schools. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach using content analysis as the primary method. The data source was the revised edition of the Grade VII Indonesian language textbook published by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of Indonesia. Data were collected through documentation techniques and analyzed based on critical literacy indicators, including comprehension, analysis, evaluation, and reflection. The findings reveal that critical literacy content has been integrated into various learning activities, such as comparing information from multiple sources, identifying fake news (hoaxes), analyzing multimodal texts including posters and infographics, and engaging in reflection and discussion activities. These findings indicate that the textbook supports the development of critical thinking skills and Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). However, the exploration of ideological perspectives, power relations, and sociocultural contexts within texts remains limited and requires further enhancement. Therefore, future textbook development should incorporate deeper dimensions of critical literacy to foster students who are critical, reflective, and responsive to social issues in contemporary society.

Evaluation is an important component in the Arabic language learning process because it functions to determine the level of students' achievement in reaching learning objectives. In educational practice, the terms measurement, assessment, and evaluation are often used interchangeably, even though they have different meanings in terms of concept, function, and scope. This article aims to analyze the fundamental differences between measurement, assessment, and evaluation and to examine the urgency of their application in Arabic language learning. The method used in this study is a literature study by reviewing various books and scientific journals related to educational evaluation. The results of the study show that measurement focuses on collecting data in the form of numerical scores, assessment is the process of interpreting the results of measurement, while evaluation is a broader process used to determine the effectiveness of a learning program. The application of these three concepts can be found in the four Arabic language skills: listening (istima’), speaking (kalam), reading (qira’ah), and writing (kitabah). In addition, a good evaluation system should consider the principles of objectivity, validity, reliability, and fairness so that the results can accurately reflect students' abilities. Therefore, a proper understanding of measurement, assessment, and evaluation is essential for developing an effective and quality evaluation system in Arabic language learning.

The integration of artificial intelligence, particularly ChatGPT, has become an increasingly common phenomenon among university students in supporting various academic activities, such as searching for information, generating ideas, and completing assignments. On the other hand, in multilingual societies such as Indonesia, code-mixing is a natural, dynamic, and unavoidable linguistic practice in everyday communication, including interactions with artificial intelligence-based technologies. This study aims to analyze how ChatGPT responds to user prompts written using code-mixing, namely a combination of Indonesian with English or local languages. The study employed a qualitative descriptive method using sociolinguistic and human–computer interaction approaches. The research data were obtained by testing a series of simulated prompt texts containing various forms of code-mixing and analyzing the responses generated by ChatGPT. The findings indicate that ChatGPT is capable of understanding instructions expressed in mixed languages, adapting its response style to the communication context, and maintaining semantic accuracy in most cases. However, the study also reveals that the intensity and variation of code-mixing in user prompts significantly influence the accuracy of interpretation, the consistency of language style, and the formal structure of the generated output. Therefore, although ChatGPT demonstrates strong linguistic adaptability, the effectiveness of its responses remains influenced by the characteristics of code-mixing employed in user prompts.
