Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) remain a leading cause of global morbidity and mortality, with chronic inflammation as a key pathophysiological mechanism. Antioxidants from fruits and vegetables have demonstrated potential to modulate inflammatory immune responses, thus contributing to NCD prevention. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of fruit and vegetable consumption promotion policies in preventing NCDs by modulating inflammatory immune responses in Nabire District in 2025. The research employed a mixed-methods design, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative data from 384 adult respondents. Data were gathered through food consumption surveys, inflammatory biomarker analysis (CRP, IL-6, TNF-α), and an evaluation of policy implementation. Descriptive and inferential analyses were conducted using SPSS 28.0 and R version 4.3.0. Results revealed that average fruit and vegetable consumption in Nabire residents remained below the WHO recommended intake (289g/day vs. 400g/day), although there was a noticeable improvement compared to previous years. A significant negative correlation was found between antioxidant intake and inflammatory biomarkers (r=-0.478, p<0.001). Policy implementation reached 74% coverage with a 62% compliance rate, indicating significant improvements in reach compared to prior assessments. The study concludes that fruit and vegetable consumption promotion policies show enhanced potential in modulating inflammatory immune responses for NCD prevention. Emesis gravidarum, characterized by nausea and vomiting during the first trimester of pregnancy, affects up to 80% of pregnant women. Although typically considered a normal physiological condition, persistent symptoms can significantly impact daily activities, nutritional intake, and quality of life. Concerns over fetal safety with pharmacological treatments have led to the exploration of non-pharmacological interventions, such as aromatherapy. Lemon (Citrus limon) aromatherapy, which contains limonene, is believed to reduce nausea by stimulating the limbic system through olfactory pathways. This observational study, conducted at Manembo-nembo Hospital in Bitung City in 2025, involved 30 first-trimester pregnant women selected through purposive sampling. The severity of emesis gravidarum was assessed using the Pregnancy-Unique Quantification of Emesis and Nausea (PUQE) questionnaire before and after lemon aromatherapy. Results showed that most participants were aged 20–35 years (73.33%) and in the early first trimester (≤10 weeks). After lemon aromatherapy, the severity of nausea and vomiting decreased, with most participants shifting from moderate or severe to mild symptoms. Statistical analysis revealed a moderate negative correlation between lemon aromatherapy and the severity of emesis gravidarum (r = −0.586; p = 0.001). In conclusion, lemon aromatherapy was significantly associated with a reduction in nausea and vomiting severity in early pregnancy. This intervention offers a safe, simple, and complementary option in antenatal care to enhance maternal comfort during the first trimester.

Imbalance of body lipid levels, especially total cholesterol and HDL, is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disorders. A simple lipid profile examination can be used to detect potential atherogenic dyslipidemia that has not shown clinical symptoms. Total cholesterol and HDL levels were examined in 104 participants using the Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) technique. Education was provided individually using leaflets, which contained information on the effects of saturated fat and trans fat consumption, and the importance of unsaturated fat and fiber intake on lipid profiles. Most participants had total cholesterol levels within normal limits. However, more than half of the population showed low to very low HDL levels, indicating hidden metabolic risks. Dietary education was provided in a targeted manner according to the results of each participant's examination. Total cholesterol and HDL examinations were used to assess the risk of lipid disorders early on. Nutrition education based on examination results is useful in raising awareness of the importance of regulating diet to reduce the risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular complications.

Hemoglobin and hematocrit examinations serve as important early indicators of hematological status, reflecting the blood’s capacity to transport oxygen. A decrease in these two parameters leads to anemia, which is often undetected due to minimal early symptoms and low awareness to undergo examinations. This activity was carried out using the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) approach, by examining hemoglobin and hematocrit levels in adult participants. Capillary blood samples were analyzed using a portable device at the examination location. Education was delivered through leaflets regarding the importance of iron, vitamin B12, and folate intake to support erythrocyte formation. The examination was attended by 104 participants, the majority of whom were women. The average hemoglobin was recorded as approaching the lower limit of normal values, while hematocrit levels showed wide variations. More than half of the participants were classified as having anemia. This high proportion of anemia highlights the urgent need for targeted nutritional education. Hemoglobin and hematocrit screening proves effective as an early detection tool for hematological disorders. Education that is linked to laboratory findings should be prioritized to promote improved dietary patterns, particularly the consumption of iron-rich foods, vitamin B12, and folate, in order to prevent erythropoietic dysfunction and long-term health complications.

Nutritional problems can jeopardize the survival of a country. The nutritional condition of each individual reflects the physiological demands of that individual, because if these needs are not met, nutrition-related health problems will arise. Children's health and nutritional status are interrelated. When a child's health deteriorates due to an infectious disease, their appetite is affected and they consume less food, resulting in less nutrients entering the body. Journals in this literature review used 3 databases including Google Scholar, PubMed, and Science Direct using the words malnutrition, child, 2-5 years. The literature search was adjusted based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The search results obtained 10 journals consisting of 4 national journals and 6 international journals. The results showed that the risk factors for malnutrition in children aged 2-5 years were inadequate nutritional intake, parental education and knowledge, infectious diseases, parenting, environmental sanitation and socioeconomic factors.

Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) is a collection of physical and emotional symptoms occurring prior to menstruation that can disrupt daily activities. Dietary patterns and nutritional status are known to influence PMS symptoms. This study aims to analyze the relationship between dietary intake (energy, carbohydrates, protein, fat, magnesium, and vitamin B6) and nutritional status (based on Body Mass Index/BMI) with the incidence of PMS among female students from both health and non-health study programs at Universitas Airlangga. This research employed an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design. A total of 103 female students from the 4th semester of the Nutrition and Islamic Economics study programs were selected through proportional random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires on respondent characteristics, a Semi-Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ), anthropometric measurements, and the Shortened Premenstrual Assessment Form (SPAF). Data analysis was performed descriptively and inferentially using Spearman's rank correlation test. The results showed a significant relationship between energy intake (p = 0.002) and fat intake (p = 0.001) with PMS. No significant relationship was found for carbohydrate, protein, magnesium, and vitamin B6 intake (p > 0.05). Additionally, nutritional status based on BMI was significantly associated with PMS (p = 0.001), indicating that both underweight and overweight students were more likely to experience PMS. These findings highlight that imbalanced energy and fat intake, as well as abnormal nutritional status, may be contributing factors to PMS. Therefore, increasing awareness of proper nutrition and reproductive health is essential to reduce PMS symptoms among female students.

Hyperuricemia contributes to various metabolic disorders, including gout and kidney disease. Detection of uric acid levels through simple screening is important for early risk identification. One non-pharmacological approach that can help reduce uric acid levels is maintaining adequate fluid intake. Uric acid level examination was performed by taking capillary blood from 104 adult participants. Results were obtained directly using the Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) instrument. Education was provided to all participants using a leaflet discussing the role of hydration in supporting uric acid excretion. The average uric acid level was recorded at 4.08 ± 1.00 mg/dL. A total of 103 participants (99.0%) were in the normal range, and 1 participant (1.0%) had high levels. Most participants have not experienced excessive urate accumulation, but still need education to maintain this status. Uric acid level screening is useful as an effort to detect the risk of metabolic disorders early. Education about the importance of fluid intake is the main strategy to maintain uric acid levels within normal limits and prevent complications due to hyperuricemia.

Anemia is a common nutritional problem that occurs in vulnerable groups such as pregnant women and teenage girls. One of its main causes is iron deficiency, which can be exacerbated by low vitamin C intake. Red guava (Psidium guajava L.) is a local fruit that is rich in vitamin C and has the potential to improve iron absorption, thus supporting an increase in hemoglobin levels. This study aims to review the effectiveness of red guava in increasing hemoglobin as an effort to prevent anemia. This study uses a literature review design on five experimental research articles published in the last 10 years. The study results show that the consumption of red guava, whether consumed alone or in combination, can significantly increase hemoglobin levels in pregnant women and adolescent girls with anemia. The vitamin C content in red guava plays a role in enhancing the bioavailability of iron needed for hemoglobin formation. Thus, red guava has the potential to be used as part of a locally based food nutrition intervention that is effective, affordable, and applicable in the effort to prevent anemia.

This studyaims to examine the economic activities of low-income communities and identify factors that influence these activities in Tamaila Utara Village,Tolangohula Sub-district,Gorontalo Regency. The study employed a qualitative method using a systematic approach. Data collection techniques included observation, interview, and source triangulation.Data analysis involved data reduction followed by drawing conclusions. The findings indicate that most low-income residents in Tamaila Utara rely on agriculture, particularly corn farming, as their primary livelihood. Farming activities are supported by family members due to limited financial capacity to hire labor, and the tools used are still very simple or traditional. For crop distribution, the community depends on local traders who offer prices significantly lower than market rates, due to limited transportation access to larger markets. In terms of consumption, residents can only meet their basic needs, with low nutritional intake due to minimal income. Other challenges to improving the local economy include water scarcity during the dry season, low educational attainment among farmers, lack of government-provided training, and unpredictable weather and environmental conditions. Therefore, government support is urgently needed, such as irrigation development, agricultural training, and the provision of modern tools or technology to enhance community welfare in the future.

Stunting remains one of the major nutritional problems in Indonesia. According to the 2024 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI), the prevalence of stunting in Papua Province reached 16.8%. A child’s nutritional status is strongly influenced by dietary intake, particularly protein, which plays a crucial role in growth. One potential source of animal protein is Indian mackerel (Rastrelliger kanagurta), a type of fish commonly found in Papua. Indian mackerel is rich in protein and omega-3 fatty acids but is highly perishable, limiting its shelf life. To address this issue, the fish is processed into flour. Additionally, green spinach is used as a source of fiber and minerals, although it is also prone to spoilage. The spinach is processed by extracting its juice, which is then incorporated into noodle products. Dried noodles were chosen as a medium for fortification because they are widely consumed across age groups and often used as a substitute for rice. This study aimed to determine the effect of adding Indian mackerel flour and green spinach extract on the chemical properties and sensory acceptance of dried noodles. The research methods included nutritional content analysis and organoleptic testing. The sensory evaluation was conducted by 25 semi-trained panelists who were nutrition science students

Uric acid is the final product of purine metabolism, which can increase due to high purine intake or impaired renal excretion. Accumulation of uric acid in the body is at risk of causing joint inflammation and other metabolic disorders. Early detection and dietary education are strategic steps to prevent complications of hyperuricemia. This activity uses the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) approach by examining uric acid levels using POCT and education on managing purine consumption. The examination was carried out on 62 adult participants. Educational leaflets were delivered directly and individually to each participant. All participants had uric acid levels in the normal range (median 4.2 mg/dL), with the lowest value of 3.5 mg/dL and the highest 6.5 mg/dL. Most participants were women and were in the middle to elderly age group. Although no cases of hyperuricemia were identified, preventive education remains essential to maintain uric acid levels within optimal ranges and reduce future metabolic risks. Lifestyle interventions focusing on diet and hydration are critical for sustainable uric acid control and long-term health outcomes.   Keywords: Uric Acid, Purine, Hyperuricemia, Diet, Nutrition Education
