Indonesia's diversity is a necessity to be denied, the deep-rooted Plurality must be maintained. Bhinneka Tunggal Ika and Pancasila as the breath and pulse of the nation must be lived and live for the nation. Diversity as a gift of God is an extraordinary potential, but it is necessary to be aware of the potential for conflict, tearing the weaving of the golden thread of plurality. The Holy Father's apostolic trip to the UAE gave birth to a brotherhood document, an invitation to cooperation and interfaith dialogue with Imam Al Azhar Ahmad el-Tayeb. This literature study examines the construction of cultural identity through socio-economic practices in plantation ecosystems among the Acehnese, Malay, and Chinese communities in Indonesia. Using a systematic literature review of 42 selected sources (1990-2023), the research reveals that plantations function as sites of identity negotiation—dynamic arenas of cultural adaptation and resistance. In Aceh, the integration of Islamic values (zakat [alms] from plantations, meunasah education) and local wisdom (peusijuek rituals) mediates post-conflict reconciliation and identity transformation from "combatants" to "farmers" (Muchlis et al., 2023; Aulia et al., 2024). For the Malay community, the customary-territorial concept of bela kampung (communal defense) underpins resistance to authority fragmentation through gotong royong (mutual cooperation) and communal land allocation (Yunanda et al., 2024; Nasution et al., 2024). Meanwhile, the Chinese community develops invisibility strategies (e.g., land acquisition via family foundations, citizenship aliases) to convert legal marginalization into clan-based social capital (Irawan, 2016; Thung, 2018). Key findings highlight divergent identity sources: religiosity (Aceh), customary-territoriality (Malay), and clan social capital (Chinese). The study recommends integrating local wisdom into inclusive plantation policies and employing ethnographic approaches to examine identity intersectionality complexity.

This study aims to describe the meaning of signs and values contained in the story of the origin of the Penti ceremony in the Wae Mbeleng community, Benteng Kuwu Village, Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. The Penti ceremony is one of the important traditional rituals that contains various symbols and cultural values as a form of gratitude to God and ancestors for the harvest and a request for protection in the coming year. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic approach, which dissects signs through the concept of signifier and signified. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the signs in the Penti ceremony, such as symbols of sacrificial animals, mantras, sacred places, and traditional foods, represent the spiritual relationship of the community with God, ancestors, and nature. In addition, values such as ethics, spirituality, kinship, mutual cooperation, as well as educational and social values are reflected in the practice of the ceremony. Thus, the Penti ceremony is not only a form of cultural expression, but also a means of inheriting the noble values of the Manggarai community. This research is expected to contribute to the preservation of local culture and become a reference in the study of cultural anthropology and value education.

This study aims to describe and analyze the strategies implemented by the Environmental Agency (DLH) of Karimun Regency in managing waste and to evaluate the effectiveness of these implementations in the field. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document reviews. Findings reveal that DLH Karimun has developed and executed key strategies, including the formulation of the Regional Waste Management Master Plan (RIPSD), optimization of Temporary Waste Disposal Sites (TPS) with 3R principles, active collaboration with waste banks and community groups, and community-based education and socialization efforts. However, operational challenges persist, particularly in waste transportation fleet distribution, handling of the Sememal Final Disposal Site (TPA), and monitoring and evaluation mechanisms that remain suboptimal. Additional challenges include limited human resources and funding, low public awareness, and regulatory conflicts impacting strategic decision-making. Nevertheless, the strategies implemented have contributed to improvements in environmental cleanliness across several sub-districts and increased volumes of processed waste through recycling initiatives. Community involvement through schools, youth organizations, family welfare groups, mutual cooperation activities, and waste banks proved critical to success. The study recommends the adoption of digital-based waste management systems (smart waste management), capacity building for DLH personnel, community empowerment, and revision of local regulations to support sustainable waste management. This will enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of DLH Karimun’s waste management strategies moving forward. The findings provide valuable insights for policy formulation and practical implementation in similar regional contexts.

Family counseling is a strategic approach to helping family members overcome various issues that disrupt family harmony and functionality. In the Indonesian context, family counseling cannot be separated from the influence of distinctive local cultural values such as kinship, mutual cooperation (gotong royong), respect for elders, and the strong presence of religious and customary norms. Indonesian culture, which is predominantly collectivist and hierarchical, places the family as the central social institution that shapes individual identity and behavior. Therefore, it is essential for counselors to understand the diverse family structures present in Indonesia, ranging from patriarchal and matrilineal systems (such as in Minangkabau) to more egalitarian modern families. Culturally-based family counseling in Indonesia not only focuses on resolving interpersonal conflicts within the family but also emphasizes the importance of maintaining social harmony and protecting the family’s reputation in the community. In Indonesian society, conflict resolution is often carried out through deliberation (musyawarah) and involves third parties such as community elders, religious leaders, or respected senior family members. This highlights the need for family counselors in Indonesia to possess intercultural competence and a deep understanding of prevailing social norms. Moreover, religiosity plays a significant role in shaping values, attitudes, and decision-making within families. Counseling approaches that neglect the spiritual and cultural dimensions are often perceived as irrelevant or ineffective. Thus, integrating Western psychological theories with local values is crucial for family counseling to be both effective and contextually appropriate. This article explores the importance of culturally grounded family counseling in Indonesia by emphasizing key principles such as local wisdom, togetherness, deliberation, and harmony as the foundation for intervention strategies. By understanding the complexities of Indonesia’s pluralistic culture, family counseling can become a powerful tool to rebuild healthy, sustainable relationships and support the development of a more emotionally and socially harmonious society.

This study aims to explore and examine the leadership model based on local values that have developed in various regions of the archipelago, as well as its relevance in contemporary leadership practices. Indonesia as a country with high cultural diversity holds many traditional leadership value legacies, such as deliberation, mutual cooperation, and the principle of balance between individual and collective interests. Through a qualitative-descriptive approach, this study analyzes various traditional leadership practices from several regions such as Java, Bali, Minangkabau, and Bugis-Makassar, then identifies the main elements that can be integrated into modern leadership styles in both the public and private sectors. The results of the study indicate that local values not only enrich existing leadership models, but are also able to strengthen the legitimacy, ethics, and effectiveness of leadership in an increasingly complex social context. This study recommends the development of a hybrid leadership model that combines local wisdom with global demands, as an adaptive solution in facing the dynamics of changing times.
