Indonesia is a maritime country, so there is a lot of movement of goods, animals, and people by sea which is accommodated through ship transportation. This causes the ship agency company to be quite an important role in serving the movement of ship transportation in maritime countries. In this paper explains the role of agency in supporting ship operations at PT. Jalur Niaga Nusantara Morowali Branch which aims to find out the problems that arise and efforts to overcome the problems faced during agency activities. In this study, the authors used qualitative research methods so as to conduct research through observation, interviews and documentation on ship agency activities. The results of this study indicate the emergence of problems such as complaints from the consignee after all documents for unloading goods have been completed and signed, this causes obstacles to ship agents to continue agency activities for the next ship because they have to resolve consignee complaints that arise after the agency process is complete. In addition, there is also a delay in ship departure caused by waiting for the issuance of the Sailing Approval Letter. Through this research, efforts that can be made are by providing confirmation to the consignee regarding complaints that arise after all documents and agency activities have been completed are declared to be the responsibility of the consignee and improving good relations with the Port Operator Unit and monitoring ship departure services to avoid delays in issuing the Sailing Approval Letter.
