Arrogance, referred to in the Quran as kibr, takabbur, or istikbār, is a serious moral issue with spiritual, social, and political dimensions that require careful consideration. Pride is a major obstacle in accepting divine truth and can contribute to the collapse of the social order, as depicted in the stories of Pharaoh, Qarun, and Iblis. In the modern context, pride appears in various complex forms, including intellectual pride, political dominance, economic inequality and exclusivism. It has also evolved into a structural problem that causes discrimination, marginalization of minority voices, and global tensions. This study analyzes the concept of pride in the Qur'ān using a theoretical approach rooted in themes. This qualitative methodology allows for the development of inductive theories directly drawn from the sacred text. This approach overcomes the limitations of previous research, which is often fragmentary and descriptive. Through open, axial, and selective coding of Qur'anic verses and stories about pride, this study will reconstruct the definition, forms, and characteristics (cognitive, affective, and behavioral) of pride, as well as its consequences in this world and the hereafter. The results show that pride manifests in actions such as belittling others, boasting of self and wealth, rejecting the truth, and showing physical arrogance.

Therefore, all aspects of a literary work originate from the author, who plays a crucial role in generating creative ideas that are expressed through their writings. In line with technological advancements, literature has also undergone transformation. Arabic literature experienced a significant thematic transformation from the Umayyad to the Abbasid period. In the Umayyad era, poetry was still rooted in classical qasidah, focusing on praise, tribal pride, and romantic ideals. However, the Abbasid era brought a wave of literary renewal, influenced by sociopolitical and cultural shifts. This study explores how these contexts shaped literary themes and styles, using a descriptive qualitative approach through library research and textual analysis. It focuses on works by Al-Farazdaq, Al-Akhtal, Jarir, Abu Nawas, Abu al-Atahiyah, Dibil al-Khuza’i, and Al-Jahiz. This study aims to analyze the use of Google Translate in translating Arabic text into Indonesian. The aim is to examine translation accuracy, precision, and the relationship between translation and meaning. A descriptive qualitative method was used to explore the phenomenon in its specific context. Data were taken from classical and modern Arabic texts. The findings show that although Google Translate has seen improvements, it still faces some challenges. These include word-for-word translation, lack of understanding of cultural context, and gender terminology issues. While Google Translate can be a useful tool, it cannot completely replace human translators, especially in translating adverbs and complex grammatical structures. This research emphasizes the importance of translation quality and the role of digital tools in translation. By learning to use these tools effectively, users can improve their translation skills and enhance their ability to communicate across languages. Thus, while machine translation offers convenience and speed, human insight remains essential to achieve nuance, clarity and contextually appropriate meaning in Arabic-Indonesian translation.

Drawing on the participants' concrete lived experiences, this study explores how the processes of typification and we-relations shape the construction of meaning in everyday interactions. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and participant observation with four informants and one single caregiver, and analyzed descriptively texturally and structurally. The findings show that affective communication includes empathy, humor, and firm but authoritative correction that become the foundation for the formation of emotional bonds and a sense of “new family.” Holistic routines (praying in congregation, studying, social activities) facilitate the internalization of religious values, discipline, and independence, which in turn strengthen children's self-identity. The process of meaning construction does not only occur through words, but through daily practices that bring together the emotional, spiritual and social dimensions. These results recommend strengthening intersubjective communication training for caregivers in similar institutions to support the development of character and identity of orphans.

Low student interest in learning English remains a challenge in many Islamic senior high schools, particularly in rural areas where teacher-centered instruction is still dominant. One strategy proposed to address this issue is the Jigsaw method, a cooperative learning approach that emphasizes student collaboration, responsibility,p and peer teaching. This classroom action research was conducted at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Khoirot to examine the effectiveness of the Jigsaw method in increasing students’ interest in learning English, specifically in descriptive text material. The participants consisted of 31 eleventh-grade students, and the study was implemented in two cycles following the Kemmis and McTaggart model. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and tests. The findings showed that the Jigsaw method significantly improved student engagement and learning outcomes. The percentage of students who achieved the minimum passing grade (KKM) increased from 35.48% in the pre-cycle to 77.42% in the second cycle. Additionally, 86.4% of students responded positively to the use of the Jigsaw method, citing increased motivation, understanding, and cooperation. Observation results also revealed active participation, especially in peer explanation and group discussions. Based on these findings, the Jigsaw method is considered effective in fostering student interest, promoting active learning, and creating a more interactive classroom environment. Teaching German as a foreign language in Indonesia requires the integration of linguistic and cultural aspects to develop students’ intercultural competence. Textbooks play a significant role in representing culture, yet most language learning materials tend to portray culture superficially and selectively. This study aims to analyze the representation of cultural elements in the textbook Deutsch echt einfach A1.1 für Jugendliche using a qualitative descriptive approach and content analysis method. Data were obtained from the book’s textual and visual content, analyzed through the lens of Dweik et al.’s (2015) twelve cultural elements framework. The findings reveal that elements such as food and beverages, social behavior, and family relationships are the most frequently represented. In contrast, deeper cultural elements such as history, politics, religion, ecology, and economy are scarcely present. These results indicate that the textbook focuses primarily on surface-level culture and does not fully support the development of students’ intercultural competence. The implication is that teachers and curriculum developers need to supplement textbooks with more critical, holistic, and contextually relevant cultural materials to enhance foreign language learning.

This study examines the constitutional position of the President and Vice President in Indonesia following the four amendments to the 1945 Constitution between 1999 and 2002, focusing on how these reforms reshaped executive authority and accountability. It addresses the problem of excessive presidential dominance and unclear vice-presidential functions under the New Order regime, with research objectives to analyze the institutional, authority, accountability, and relational dimensions of the amended constitutional framework. Employing a normative doctrinal method through statute and conceptual approaches, the study analyzes primary legal texts, scholarly articles, and tertiary materials using descriptive-analytical techniques. The main findings reveal that the introduction of direct joint elections, strict two-term limits, impeachment mechanisms, and the establishment of the Constitutional Court significantly strengthened checks and balances, clarified the Vice President’s supportive and succession roles, and redistributed legislative powers to the DPR. These reforms created a more balanced separation of powers and enhanced democratic legitimacy while also highlighting emerging challenges in institutional capture and democratic backsliding. In conclusion, Indonesia’s gradualist constitutional reform successfully transformed an authoritarian executive into a more accountable presidential system, though ongoing vigilance and potential further amendments are necessary to consolidate democratic gains.
