Social-emotional skills are an important aspect of early childhood development that influences learning readiness and character formation. This study aims to analyze the role of role-playing activities in supporting children's social-emotional development. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a literature study approach through a review of accredited journals, early childhood education books, and articles published in the last five years. The results of the study show that role-playing can improve empathy, cooperation, emotional regulation, and communication. Children who are involved in this activity are more courageous in expressing themselves, understanding the feelings of others, and learning to control their emotions in social interactions. These findings confirm that role-playing not only serves as a means of entertainment but also as a learning strategy that supports the achievement of early childhood education learning in the Merdeka Curriculum. The implication of this research is the need for teachers to be creative in designing contextual role-playing scenarios, providing adequate playing facilities, and supporting educational policies so that role-playing activities can become the foundation for the formation of early childhood character that is empathetic, communicative, and disciplined.

The phenomenon of the fake smile has become increasingly visible in the digital era, especially through social media platforms. Such expressions are often used to mask genuine emotions such as sadness, psychological pressure, or fatigue. This study examines how the Prophetic traditions (ḥadīth) address this phenomenon in relation to sincerity, ethical conduct, and emotional balance. Three research questions are posed: (1) whether ḥadīth encourage sincerity in smiling as an act of worship, (2) how fake smiles are situated within Islamic ethical perspectives, and (3) to what extent ḥadīth provide guidance for this issue in contemporary contexts. The study applies a qualitative method, employing library research and thematic analysis of ḥadīth (mawḍūʿī). Primary data are drawn from authoritative ḥadīth collections, while secondary sources include tafsīr, classical and modern commentaries, as well as psychological literature. The findings reveal that smiling is framed as a charitable act requiring sincerity. A fake smile intended to preserve harmony may still be valued positively, but one used for manipulation or to conceal hostility conflicts with the principle of truthfulness (ṣidq) and approaches hypocrisy (nifāq). The Prophet’s balanced expressions affirm the need for sincerity in social interaction.

This study aims to explore expressive illocutionary acts in the film The Perks of Being a Wallflower, focusing on the types and functions that appear in the interactions between the characters. Expressive illocutionary acts, as part of pragmatic studies, play an important role in representing emotions, attitudes, and social relationships between speakers. This study was conducted to identify in detail twelve types of expressive illocutionary acts and their four accompanying functions, thereby providing a deeper understanding of the dynamics of communication in the film. This study uses a qualitative approach with documentation and observation methods of the film's dialogue. Data analysis was carried out through three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, to obtain a systematic picture of the pattern of expressive illocutionary acts. The results show that all twelve types of expressive illocutionary acts are found in the film, with the expression "thank you" as the most dominant form. This reflects the film's main theme, which emphasizes the value of friendship, emotional support, and gratitude between characters. In contrast, the expression "regret" is the least used type.

A parenting seminar on maternal and child mental health organized by KPM UI Bunga Bangsa Cirebon students in Pegagan Village is a form of community service aimed at raising awareness and understanding of the importance of mental health in parenting. The limited knowledge of mental health issues in rural communities, coupled with high levels of stress experienced by parents, often negatively impacts parenting practices. This has the potential to hinder optimal child development, both physically, psychologically, and socially. Therefore, this activity was designed with a participatory approach, where the community is not merely an object but is also involved from the beginning of the planning process. This process includes coordination with village officials, seminars, and monitoring and evaluation stages, so that the community feels ownership and plays an active role in the program. The seminar featured speakers from psychology and legal academics who explained the relationship between parental mental health and fulfilling legal obligations to protect children's rights. The material presented emphasized how parental stress and emotions can affect child development, as well as the importance of parents' ability to manage the pressures of everyday life. Participants gained an understanding of strategies for maintaining mental health, including good time management, building open communication within the family environment, and strengthening social support as an emotional support system. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' awareness of the importance of mental health not only as an individual need, but also as a moral, social, and legal responsibility in creating a healthy, safe, and resilient family environment. Therefore, this parenting seminar can be seen as an effective educational strategy, not only strengthening parents' capacity to raise children but also building sustainable local support networks for the well-being of families and communities.

This study is motivated by the importance of emotion regulation skills among university students who are in the transitional phase toward early adulthood, where academic, social, and personal pressures can affect psychological well-being. Spiritual intelligence is considered one of the factors that can support this ability. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between spiritual intelligence and emotion regulation among students of the Faculty of Science, Technology, and Health, Universitas Sahid Surakarta. This research employed a quantitative method with a correlational design. The sample consisted of 196 students selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments were a spiritual intelligence scale and an emotion regulation scale, both of which had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment correlation. The results showed a very strong and significant positive relationship between spiritual intelligence and emotion regulation (r = 0.883; p < 0.05). These findings indicate that the higher the students’ spiritual intelligence, the better their ability to recognize, evaluate, and manage emotions. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of developing spiritual intelligence in higher education settings as an effort to enhance students’ emotion regulation abilities.

Operationally, subjective well-being can be understood as an individual's assessment of their life experiences, involving affective components in the form of positive and negative emotions, as well as cognitive components. Individuals with subjective well-being experience more positive emotions and fewer negative emotions, and feel satisfied with their lives. One factor that influences subjective well-being is academic resilience. The purpose of this study was to determine the contribution of academic resilience to subjective well-being in final year psychology students at Padang State University. The research subjects were 174 final year psychology students at Padang State University who were taking thesis courses. The research design used was quantitative. Data collection used a non-probability sampling technique. Data were analyzed using simple regression analysis techniques. The analysis results obtained a sig. value of 0.000 (sig <0.05) with an r-square value of 0.550. From the results obtained, it was concluded that there was a contribution of academic resilience to subjective well-being in final year psychology students at Padang State University. The findings of this study strengthen the view that academic resilience is an important aspect in facing complex academic challenges, especially for final year students. Students with high levels of academic resilience tend to be better able to manage stress, maintain motivation, and remain focused on their academic goals despite facing various obstacles such as research difficulties, time pressure, and social demands. This ability directly contributes to increased life satisfaction and the dominance of positive emotions, which ultimately improves students' subjective well-being. Furthermore, the results of this study provide practical implications for universities to consider and develop programs that can improve students' academic resilience. For example, this could include providing counseling services, stress management skills training, and strengthening social support from supervisors and peers.

The Titanic drama contains many figurative expressions that reflect deep emotions, life values, and internal conflicts. These figures of speech are used to describe love, fear, sadness, and hope in a more vivid and memorable way. The emotional experiences of the characters, especially Jack and Rose, are shown not only through direct dialogues but also through creative figurative language. This study aims to examine the types of figures of speech found in Titanic, a drama film directed by James Cameron. Using a qualitative descriptive method, this study analyzes the film's dialogues based on the conceptual figurative theory proposed by Lakoff and Johnson. This study identified three main types of figures of speech: structural, ontological (including personification and metonymy), and orientational figures of speech. The results showed that structural figures of speech were the most dominant type, appearing in 45.9% of the total data, followed by ontological figures of speech at 29.7%, and orientational figures of speech at 24.3%. This finding proves that figures of speech are not only used to beautify language but also to express feelings and views on life in a deeper and more emotional way. The allusions in Titanic help the audience understand the characters' thoughts and experiences better.

This study aims to determine the effect of paternal attachment on emotional regulation in late adolescents in Padang City. Paternal attachment is seen as a crucial factor in developing children's emotional regulation skills, particularly during late adolescence, which is the transitional phase toward adulthood. Late adolescence is a crucial period in an individual's psychological development, where the ability to manage and express emotions appropriately determines their mental and social well-being. A strong emotional attachment to a father is believed to provide a foundation of emotional security that helps adolescents regulate their emotional responses to various life pressures and challenges. This study used a quantitative approach with a purposive sampling technique and involved 272 late adolescent respondents in Padang City as a sample. Data were collected through a questionnaire designed to measure the level of paternal attachment and adolescents' emotional regulation skills. Data collection was carried out with attention to the validity and reliability of the instrument so that the research results can be scientifically accounted for. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistics to identify the relationship and influence between paternal attachment variables and emotional regulation. The results showed that the level of father attachment in late adolescents was in the moderate category at 53.3%, while their level of emotional regulation was in the high category at 42.3%. These findings indicate that although father attachment did not reach the high category for most, adolescents' emotional regulation abilities were relatively good. Further statistical analysis revealed that there was an influence of father attachment on emotional regulation in late adolescents, but this influence was very weak. This indicates that although father attachment contributes, there are many other factors that play a role in shaping adolescents' emotional regulation abilities, such as attachment to the mother, peer support, education, and individual experiences.

This study examines the role of sound design in creating a mystical atmosphere in the song “Alternate Universe” by the independent Yogyakarta band, The Melting Minds. The song adopts an exploratory approach to sonic atmosphere creation through elements such as sub-bass drones, long reverbs, pitch-shifted vocals, and extreme spatial panning. The aim of this research is to identify the sound design techniques used and analyze how listeners interpret their listening experience and how these elements contribute to the emotional experience and mystical perception built by the song. The approach used in this research is a qualitative descriptive-interpretative method, with data collected through audio analysis, documentary observation, semi-structured interviews, and open-ended questionnaires given to 15 experimental music listeners. The theoretical framework includes Schafer’s soundscape theory, Schaeffer’s sound objects, Juslin & Västfjäll's BRECVEMA model of music emotions, and Stuart Hall’s reception theory to understand how listeners interpret their experience. The results show that sound design in this song is used strategically to create a transcendental listening experience, evoking a liminal and affective atmosphere. Techniques such as the use of deep sub-bass drones, extended reverbs, pitch-shifted vocals, and extreme spatial panning were found to be highly effective in shaping a mysterious and profound atmosphere. Listeners reported visualizations of a supernatural space, a floating sensation, and even intense spiritual experiences during the listening.

This study discusses the symbolic meaning contained in the use of figurative language in the poetry anthology Selamat Menunaikan Ibadah Puisi by Joko Pinurbo. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a semiotic analysis method as a theoretical basis, which allows researchers to interpret the signs and symbols in the poetic texts in depth. The results of the study show that the figurative language in the poems does not only function as rhetorical decoration or mere linguistic ornamentation, but has a strong and essential symbolic function in conveying hidden messages and the poet's inner emotions. Symbols such as "storm", "refrigerator", "twilight", "window", "door", "river", and others are not only concrete images, but convey deep meanings related to inner suffering, past memories, the search for self-identity, feelings of alienation, and the search for the universal meaning of life. In addition, this study also identifies various types of figurative language used by Joko Pinurbo in the anthology, including metaphor, simile, personification, hyperbole, synecdoche, paradox, and irony. All types of figurative language are skillfully used to enrich the meaning of poetry and deepen the aesthetic experience of readers, allowing them to feel and reproduce the messages hidden behind the words. Thus, this study confirms that the use of figurative language in poetry is not only a literary technique, but also a powerful medium of expression and a means of communicating complex meanings in modern literary works. The frequent earthquakes in Indonesia have had complex impacts, not only on physical damage and material losses, but also on the psychological aspects of survivors. One psychological problem that often arises is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), which can disrupt mental health, quality of life, and an individual's ability to return to normal activities. This condition requires appropriate treatment, one of which is through providing effective coping strategies for survivors. The purpose of this study is to collect and review knowledge related to coping strategies used by earthquake disaster victims who experience PTSD. This study uses a literature review approach by exploring various relevant scientific sources that are in line with the topic. The analysis process was carried out using the content analysis method, namely an in-depth discussion of the data with reference to the stress coping theory proposed by Lazarus and Folkman. The results of the study indicate that each region, both in Indonesia and in various countries, has a different approach to coping strategies to overcome PTSD in earthquake victims. These differences are influenced by culture, social values, community support, and available resources. In general, the identified coping strategies fall into two main categories: problem-focused coping (active coping), which focuses on solving problems, and emotion-focused coping (passive coping), which focuses on managing emotions resulting from trauma. These findings confirm that a combination of these two strategies, tailored to individual characteristics and cultural context, can be an effective approach to the psychological recovery of earthquake survivors.

Depression in adolescents is a significant mental health issue in Indonesia, with its prevalence increasing every year. Adolescence is a transitional period marked by complex physical, social, and psychological changes. During this phase, adolescents often face emotional instability, academic pressure, social demands, and confusion in establishing self-identity. These factors can trigger prolonged stress and increase the risk of depression. Appropriate prevention and intervention efforts are crucial to address this issue. One approach that has proven effective is art-based group therapy. Art therapy provides a space for adolescents to express their thoughts and feelings creatively through visual media, which can help them understand themselves, manage their emotions, and build social skills. This study used the Systematic Literature Review method to identify, analyze, and synthesize the results of studies related to the effectiveness of art therapy on adolescent mental health. Data sources were obtained from various national and international journals relevant to the keywords "Art Therapy", "adolescent depression", and "mental health". The results of the literature review indicate that art therapy consistently has positive impacts, including reducing depressive symptoms, increasing self-confidence, strengthening interpersonal skills, and developing emotional intelligence. The creative process in this therapy encourages adolescents to be more open, able to process emotional experiences, and find positive ways to deal with problems. Based on these findings, Art Therapy is recommended for ongoing implementation in schools and communities as part of mental health programs. This intervention serves not only as a means of recovery but also as a preventative measure in building adolescents' psychological resilience, enabling them to grow and develop optimally amidst the challenges of modern life.

Background: Pregnancy is a physiological process experienced by every woman, but it can be accompanied by various discomforts, both physical and psychological. In the third trimester, hormonal, physical, and emotional changes often trigger complaints such as anxiety, difficulty sleeping, and discomfort. These conditions, if not managed, can negatively impact the health of the mother and fetus, including increasing the risk of pregnancy complications. One non-pharmacological approach that is increasingly in demand to address these problems is aromatherapy, namely the use of essential oils from plants as a complementary therapy. Objective: This literature study aims to explore the effectiveness of aromatherapy in reducing anxiety levels and improving sleep quality in pregnant women, especially in the final trimester. Methods: A narrative literature review was conducted by analyzing ten national journal articles published between 2014–2024. Articles were selected through a purposive sampling method based on the suitability of the topics with aromatherapy, pregnancy, anxiety, and sleep quality. Results: Most studies show that aromatherapy, especially with lavender, orange, and chamomile essential oils, has a positive effect in reducing anxiety levels and improving sleep quality. The mechanism of action of aromatherapy is thought to involve stimulation of the limbic system in the brain via the olfactory pathway, which plays a role in regulating emotions, inducing relaxation, and reducing sympathetic nervous system activity. These effects help reduce tension and facilitate better sleep in pregnant women. Conclusion: Aromatherapy has been shown to be a safe, easy-to-implement, and effective complementary intervention for addressing anxiety and sleep disturbances in pregnancy. Healthcare providers, particularly midwives, are advised to integrate this therapy into holistic antenatal care to support the overall well-being of pregnant women.

This study aims to analyze the influence of TikTok social media and store atmosphere on impulsive buying behavior among Generation Z at the Minisopink Store PVJ Mall Bandung. Impulsive buying is often triggered by emotional and external stimuli, and this phenomenon is often found among Gen Z, who are strongly influenced by social media content and store atmosphere. Although the implemented marketing strategy has followed consumer trends, its implementation is considered not optimal in utilizing the potential for impulsive buying. This study uses a quantitative approach with descriptive and verification methods to understand the influence of these two variables. The research sample was obtained through a questionnaire distributed to respondents who met specific criteria, namely having shopped at the Minisopink Store PVJ Mall Bandung, following the store's official TikTok account, and actively using TikTok social media. The distributed questionnaire measured the extent of the influence of TikTok social media and store atmosphere on impulsive buying behavior. The results show that TikTok social media has a positive and significant influence on impulsive buying among Gen Z. Engaging TikTok content, such as promotional videos and other creative content, can trigger emotions and encourage the desire to buy products impulsively. On the other hand, store atmosphere, including elements such as interior design, lighting, and music, also showed a positive influence on impulse buying behavior. However, the effect was not significant, indicating that the store atmosphere is not yet fully capable of creating a strong enough emotional appeal to encourage impulse buying. This finding indicates that Minisopink's digital marketing strategy through TikTok has not maximized the potential of features such as hashtags and interactive videos (stitch), which can further increase user engagement. Furthermore, store atmosphere elements such as music also need to be improved to create a more immersive and engaging shopping experience.

Shooting in a video feature requires the right cinematographic strategy to build emotional closeness between the audience and the subject. The creation of “Perempuan di Balik Asap Cerutu” raises the story of female cigar-rolling workers using a cinematographic approach that emphasizes close-up and handheld techniques. The close-up technique is used to create emotional intimacy through detailed expressions and the subject’s activities, while the handheld technique gives a spontaneous and realistic impression, as if the audience is present in the event. This work aims to build an emotional connection between the audience and the subject, thus evoking empathy and public concern for the fate of female workers in Indonesia. Through a work that delivers a story capable of stirring emotions, it also highlights the lives of working women who are rarely represented in the media. The production process is divided into three stages: pre-production (research, observation, concept development), production (shooting using cinematographic techniques), and post-production (footage selection and audio-visual editing). The use of close-up and handheld techniques not only functions aesthetically, but also reflects the creator’s empathetic attitude toward the subject (ethical), and supports a more touching and human narrative delivery (narrative).

In contemporary media, characters who self-diagnose with psychological disorders often reflect deeper emotional and psychological complexities rather than clinically accurate conditions. One compelling example is found in the British dark comedy-drama series The End of The F**ing World*, where James claims to be a psychopath. However, this self-diagnosis raises critical psychological questions: Is James truly incapable of empathy, or is his label a defense mechanism masking unresolved trauma from his childhood? By applying Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic theory—particularly the structural model of personality (id, ego, superego)—alongside Anna Freud’s theory of defense mechanisms, this study investigates the role of self-diagnosis not as an objective or medically valid truth, but as a psychological shield to avoid emotional vulnerability and confrontation with repressed pain. James' behaviors are analyzed through selected scenes and dialogues in the series, with additional triangulation from the original graphic novel to support the interpretation. The analysis reveals that James’ declaration of being a psychopath aligns more with mechanisms such as repression, projection, and emotional numbing, rather than the clinical criteria of psychopathy. His emotional detachment is revealed to be a constructed barrier stemming from maternal loss, neglect, and fear of connection. The study concludes that self-diagnosis in this context acts as a subconscious strategy to cope with unresolved trauma and to maintain psychological equilibrium amid inner conflict. This case exemplifies how fictional representations can mirror real-life struggles with identity, mental health, and the desire to label complex emotions through simplified diagnostic terms, especially in youth who lack proper support systems.
