This study analyzes social media comments related to a controversial incident involving Gus Miftah and a street vendor, using Edward T. Hall's theory of High- and Low-Context Communication. The goal is to identify the degree of context in each comment and explore how cultural and social values shape online discourse. A qualitative content analysis was conducted on 9 user-generated comments from a social media platform. The comments were categorized as either High-Context or Low-Context based on the use of cultural references, implicit meanings, and the need for shared cultural knowledge to understand the message. The analysis found that 5 out of 9 comments (55%) were Ligh-Context, while 4 comments (45%) were How-Context. High-context comments often utilized religious symbolism, cultural idioms, and implicit moral critiques, reflecting Indonesia’s deeply rooted religious and moral values. In contrast, low-context comments relied on direct language, explicit criticism, and factual storytelling, making them universally understandable across cultures. The study highlights how local cultural norms, religious values, and moral expectations influence the nature of public discourse online. This approach demonstrates Hall's framework's relevance in cross-cultural communication studies while also providing insights into how Indonesian social media users engage in moral and religious criticism. This analysis can be used as a basis for future research on the intersection of culture, religion, and digital discourse.

The 2024 Indonesian Presidential Election marked the fifth general election in the country, aimed at electing a new President and Vice President for the 2024–2029 term. Candidates competed to succeed the outgoing president, who had served two constitutional terms. A key aspect of this election was the candidate debates, where each candidate presented their vision, allowing the public to assess their policies. These debates were broadcast on platforms like YouTube, giving the public a space to comment. However, analyzing YouTube comments presents challenges due to the volume of data, language diversity, and informal expressions. Sentiment analysis, crucial for understanding public opinion, uses algorithms such as Naïve Bayes, which is based on Bayes' Theorem and assumes feature independence. Naïve Bayes is widely used in text analysis for its speed and simplicity. When applied to YouTube comments from the 2024 debates, the algorithm demonstrated its effectiveness, especially with a balanced dataset through random oversampling. It achieved 85.155% accuracy, high precision, recall, and an AUC of 96.8% on an 80:20 data split. Its fast classification time (0.000998 seconds) makes it suitable for real-time sentiment analysis, validating its use for political events. Future applications may incorporate advanced techniques like BERT for more sophisticated analysis.

Reader response theory offers a dynamic approach to understanding literary interpretation, shifting focus from text-centered analysis to reader engagement. This study investigates reader responses to Diana Wynne Jones's "Howl's Moving Castle" through an analysis of reviews on Goodreads, utilizing Beach's framework of reader-response theory. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, the research collected 60 reader comments, systematically sampling one review per month over the past year. The analysis categorized responses across five dimensions: textual, experiential, psychological, social, and cultural, revealing that experiential responses (33.33%) and textual responses (27.08%) predominated. Political dynasty is a political power exercised by a group of people who are related by family, with the aim of obtaining power and ensuring that this power remains within the group by passing it on to other family members. This study conducts a sentiment analysis on comments related to the Supreme Court decision which is believed to pave the way for Kaesang Pangarep in support of Jokowi's political dynasty. Sentiment analysis is carried out using the Naive Bayes method, a commonly used algorithm for text classification based on probability. The data used consists of comments from videos taken from social media platforms. These comments are then categorized into positive, negative, and neutral sentiments. The results of the study show the distribution of public sentiment towards this issue, providing an overview of how the public responds to the decision. The Naive Bayes method is chosen for its simplicity and its ability to provide reasonably accurate results in text analysis.
