In 2022, a significant fire incident occurred at a steel tower structure in an industrial plant in Lampung, Indonesia, raising serious concerns about the structural integrity and serviceability of the affected steel framework. Fire exposure is known to alter the properties of steel, weaken bolt pretension, and cause defects in welds, underscoring the necessity of thorough post-fire assessments. Nondestructive testing (NDT) methods are crucial in evaluating the safety and stability of structures after fire exposure, as they can detect potential weaknesses without compromising the material further. This study employed two field inspection methods: the bolt torque test and dye penetrant inspection (DPI). A total of 21 bolts (Tor-1 to Tor-21) were tested for their integrity. The results showed that, while all bolts were present, more than half were found to be loosened, indicating the need for re-tightening to restore the specified torque and maintain the required preload for the bolted connections. In addition, 20 welded joints (DP-1 to DP-20) were examined using DPI to detect surface defects. The inspection revealed that 10 welds (50%) exhibited surface defects exceeding 5 mm in length, indicating areas where the welds had been compromised by the fire exposure. Seven welds (35%) were found to be in acceptable condition, while 2 welds (10%) were incomplete or had poor bonding. These findings suggest that while the bolted joints can be restored through corrective re-tightening, the welded joints require more extensive evaluation, local repairs, or even rewelding to ensure their structural integrity. This study highlights the importance of NDT methods in post-fire structural evaluations and recommends periodic inspections and targeted rehabilitation to ensure the long-term reliability and safety of industrial steel structures.

Building fires can significantly degrade the strength and integrity of steel structures, so post-incident evaluation is crucial to ensure building safety and feasibility. This study aims to evaluate the condition of the steel tower structure after the fire through a visual inspection method. A total of 35 structural elements were examined, including columns, beams, and bracing, to identify damage caused by heat exposure. The inspection results showed that 6 elements (17%) were in the category of Acceptable, 8 elements (23%) Needs Attention, 5 elements (14%) Not Acceptable, and 1 element (3%) Not Applicable because they had been removed. Steel columns generally remain upright without deformation, but suffer damage to the protective layer (coating). In contrast, most blocks lose their protective layers, are directly exposed to fire, show early signs of corrosion, and some suffer severe damage such as flange tears and cuts. These findings confirm the importance of systematic documentation and classification of element conditions as the basis for technical decision-making for structural improvement. Visual inspection proved effective as an initial step in the evaluation process, providing a relevant initial picture of the extent of damage and the need for intervention. This study recommends follow-up in the form of advanced structural analysis and material testing to ensure the feasibility of reusing the affected steel elements.

The purpose of this research is to examine and analyze the validity of scientific crime investigation as evidence in the process of proving murder cases and what are the advantages and disadvantages of using the scientific crime investigation method in crime scene processing carried out by forensic laboratories. Then the method used in this research is the normative legal research method. The results of the study show that the scientific crime investigation method, which is expressed in concrete form through forensic laboratory examinations and information from police forensic experts, is the central point. In connecting the relationship between the perpetrator, victim and evidence with the crime scene, the construction of evidence for a criminal act becomes stronger and can give confidence to the judge in deciding a case fairly and in accordance with the actual facts. In the case of the crime of murder with poison, the statements of the witnesses and the statements of the two defendants were linked and interconnected with each other after the scientific crime investigation method was applied; The advantages and disadvantages of using scientific crime investigation methods in crime scene processing carried out by forensic laboratories include. The advantages and disadvantages of using scientific crime investigation methods in crime scene processing carried out by forensic laboratories include: (1). The advantage of implementing scientific crime investigation is that uncovering cases using old methods full of violence, intervention, etc. has been abandoned. (2) Fast, precise and accurate inspection supported by special tools that have been internationally standardized, (3) Minimizing errors made before SCI implementation (manual patterns replaced with digital patterns). Meanwhile, the weaknesses are: Internal side of the SatKer (Work Unit): the number of human resources who supervise and understand the use of Special Tools (Alsus) is limited, the special equipment, both primary and secondary, is expensive. If we look at the human resources that this country has, it should be enough to assist the Forensic Laboratory team in supervision and are people who understand the special tools that support the performance of the Forensic Laboratory. Apart from that, the government should be more respectful of the procurement of these special tools, even though not everyone has to always use these special tools. However, these tools are very useful for the smooth running of investigations and/or investigations. Because the resulting examination data is much more detailed and accurate.

This study aims to determine and analyze the extent to which work facilities, particularly the X-Ray Cabin, influence the performance of Aviation Security (AVSEC) officers at Betoambari Airport, Baubau. The background of this research is based on field findings indicating that several inspection facilities were either damaged or insufficient, which directly affected the effectiveness of the officers’ work and the smooth operation of the airport. The study uses a quantitative approach with a census method, involving the entire population of 23 AVSEC officers assigned to the X-Ray Cabin area. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS version 25, employing simple linear regression, t-test, and the coefficient of determination (R²). Indicator analysis also shows that within the work facilities variable (X), the indicator “Ability to Optimize Work Results” received the highest score, indicating the importance of available facilities in supporting daily work efficiency. Conversely, the indicator “In Accordance with Needs” received the lowest score, suggesting that the availability and quality of the X-Ray Cabin are still suboptimal, both in terms of quantity and technical condition. In the performance variable (Y), the indicator “Task Execution” ranked the highest, reflecting the officers’ strong compliance with SOPs and their ability to carry out tasks professionally. However, “Work Quality” was the lowest-scoring indicator, implying that limited facilities directly impact the overall quality of output. The research findings indicate that X-Ray Cabin work facilities have a positive and significant influence on the performance of AVSEC officers, as evidenced by a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05) and a regression coefficient of 0.926. The coefficient of determination test reveals that the contribution of work facilities to performance reaches 70.2%, while the remaining 29.8% is influenced by other variables outside the scope of this research.
