Public service quality plays a crucial role in ensuring that social assistance is delivered effectively to vulnerable communities. This study aims to analyze the quality of public services in the distribution of social assistance by the Social Service Office of Kerinci Regency and to identify improvement efforts undertaken by the institution. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. Informants consisted of Social Service officials, social facilitators, and beneficiary communities. Service quality analysis was conducted using the SERVQUAL dimensions: tangible, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. The findings indicate that the social assistance distribution service in Kerinci Regency is generally adequate, particularly in the assurance and empathy dimensions. Beneficiaries feel that services are delivered fairly, transparently, and without discrimination. However, obstacles remain in the tangible, reliability, and responsiveness aspects, including limited service facilities, inaccurate beneficiary data due to incomplete DTKS updates, and delays in assistance distribution in remote areas caused by geographical constraints. To address these challenges, the Social Service Office has implemented periodic data validation, strengthened coordination with village administrations, and optimized digital-based social service information systems. This study provides empirical evidence that can serve as an evaluation reference for local governments in improving transparent, effective, and equitable social assistance services.

This study critically examines the halal product certification process conducted by the Indonesian Council of Ulama (Majelis Ulama Indonesia, MUI) of South Sulawesi from the perspective of maslahah (public interest). The research is grounded in the urgent need to protect Muslim consumers, particularly in light of the growing consumption of both local and imported products that often lack clear halal status. While numerous studies have explored halal certification at the national level, there remains a significant gap in examining the regional dynamics and implementation of MUI fatwas, especially in South Sulawesi. This study aims to analyze the approaches employed by MUI South Sulawesi in determining halal certification and assess the extent to which maslahah serves as the guiding principle in their process. The research adopts a field research methodology with a descriptive qualitative approach and uses ushuliyyah (Islamic legal methodology) as its analytical framework. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that MUI South Sulawesi consistently upholds the principles of Islamic law in the halal certification process, emphasizing critical ingredients, production processes, and the cleanliness of facilities. Although the use of additives such as coloring and preservatives is permitted, it is contingent upon their halal status and freedom from impurities (najis). This approach reflects a moderate application of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, demonstrating adaptability to industrial developments while maintaining a cautious and principled stance. The study underscores the importance of transparency and education for business actors, and recommends further research focusing on post-certification supervision or comparative studies across regions. These findings offer valuable contributions to strengthening Indonesia’s halal assurance system based on the principles of public welfare.

Thousands of metric tonnes of garbage remain unmanaged, and despite available solutions, many people are still reluctant to participate in proper waste disposal. This study aimed to identify the reasons behind the unwillingness of different age groups in Kuta Selatan, Badung, Bali to separate their garbage into biodegradable and non-biodegradable categories. This qualitative research used surveys and interviews for data collection. The survey involved three age groups: adolescents (10–19) with 15 respondents, young adults (20–39) with 15 respondents, and middle adults (40–60) with 11 respondents. Interviews were conducted with two environmental experts, and the data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The results showed that reluctance across age groups stemmed mainly from limited awareness of the environmental benefits of waste separation and the negative impacts of improper disposal. Adolescents additionally cited the lack of strict policies and penalties. Young and middle adults shared similar reasons, mostly linked to insufficient knowledge and low motivation. Environmental experts emphasized the importance of improving public awareness of waste management practices and enhancing waste management infrastructure through additional facilities and better-quality services. Overall, this study highlights the need for stronger policies, improved infrastructure, and increased public education to boost community participation in waste separation in Kuta Selatan.

Early childhood is a period of rapid growth and development in a child's life. At this stage, children begin to form the foundations of their intelligence, character, and social and emotional abilities that will influence their future lives. Therefore, early childhood education plays a very important role in providing stimulation and learning experiences that are appropriate for their stage of development. In West Sumatra Province, public awareness of the importance of early childhood education services continues to increase along with the growing number of early childhood education institutions. However, the increase in the number of institutions has not been accompanied by an improvement in service quality. Many institutions still face obstacles such as a shortage of qualified teachers, a lack of facilities and infrastructure, and low teacher welfare. This situation has an impact on the quality of services received by children and the satisfaction of parents as service recipients. The results of this study are expected to provide a deeper understanding of the importance of improving service quality as an effort to create high-quality, competitive PAUD institutions that are able to meet the expectations of the community.

Public transportation plays an important role in supporting community mobility and accelerating regional economic growth. To improve public transportation services in East Java, the East Java Provincial Transportation Agency introduced the Trans Jatim Bus system. However, its implementation still faces several challenges, including long bus arrival times, the use of mobile applications that are difficult for elderly users, and inconsistencies in the availability of supporting facilities such as seating and trash bins at bus stops. This study aims to analyze the quality of Trans Jatim Bus services based on the service quality dimensions proposed by Wirtz and Lovelock. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that reliability has not met service standards due to prolonged waiting times. Responsiveness and assurance were found to meet service standards, as passengers expressed satisfaction with service responses and complaint handling. Empathy was considered adequate, although accessibility issues for elderly passengers remain. Tangible aspects were also sufficiently met, but inconsistencies were found in the provision of seating and trash bins at several bus stops. Based on these findings, the study recommends increasing the number of buses on corridor 2, evaluating bus schedules, conducting public awareness campaigns, and ensuring the consistent provision of seating and trash bins at all bus stops to improve overall service quality.

Diarrhea and Tuberculosis (TB) remain significant public health problems in Indonesia, including Rembang Regency. This study aims to analyze the spatial distribution and temporal changes of Diarrhea and TB cases in Rembang Regency during 2023–2024 using a Geographic Information Sistem (GIS) approach. A descriptive-analytic method was applied using secondary data, including administrative boundary shapefiles, disease case data, and health facility data at the sub-district level. Spatial processing and analysis were conducted using QGIS to produce thematic maps and compare disease distribution patterns between years. The results indicate that Diarrhea and TB cases were unevenly distributed across sub-districts and formed distinct spatial patterns. Case changes between 2023 and 2024 varied spatially, reflecting dynamic disease trends. The integration of disease maps with health facility distribution shows that areas with high case numbers were not always supported by adequate health facilities. The implementation of GIS-based maps into a web platform enhances accessibility and supports spatial-based public health decision-making.

The increasing elderly population in Indonesia necessitates the development of more comprehensive health services, yet various obstacles continue to hinder the fulfillment of these needs. This study aims to identify the main barriers experienced by older adults in accessing contemporary healthcare services and to outline the essential health service needs relevant to this age group. A literature study method was employed by analyzing scientific publications related to elderly health across physical, social, economic, and healthcare system dimensions. The findings indicate that older adults encounter limitations such as reduced mobility, low health literacy, insufficient elderly-friendly facilities, high healthcare costs, and a shortage of healthcare professionals trained in geriatrics. Meanwhile, their primary health service needs include continuous promotive and preventive care, easily accessible healthcare facilities, family support in managing health routines, and user-friendly health technologies. These results highlight the importance of developing more inclusive, affordable, and sustainable health services to improve the quality of life of the elderly in Indonesia.

Drug abuse constitutes a serious threat to public health, social stability, and national security. This study examines law enforcement mechanisms against drug abuse under Indonesian Law Number 35 of 2009 on Narcotics and evaluates preventive measures implemented to combat this phenomenon. Employing a normative juridical approach through a comprehensive literature review, this research analyses the implementation of both penal and non-penal approaches in addressing narcotics-related offences. The findings reveal that law enforcement practices predominantly emphasise punitive measures, despite legislative provisions accommodating rehabilitation for drug users. The dual approach integrating criminal sanctions with social and health services remains suboptimal due to institutional constraints, limited rehabilitation facilities, inadequate training for law enforcement personnel, and weak inter-agency coordination. Preventive efforts through education, family empowerment, school-based programs, community engagement, and media campaigns have been implemented but continue to face challenges, including social stigma and insufficient public awareness. This study recommends strengthening restorative justice implementation, expanding rehabilitation service capacity, and enhancing cross-sectoral collaboration to build societal resilience against drug abuse while ensuring that users receive appropriate treatment rather than mere criminalisation.

Food safety is a crucial aspect of public health, particularly for elementary school children who frequently consume street food or snacks sold within school environments. Food handlers play a key role in determining the level of hygiene and sanitation of the food served. This study aims to analyze the factors associated with food handlers’ hygiene behavior in elementary school canteens in Telanaipura District, Jambi City. This research employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach involving 41 food handlers as respondents. Data were collected through structured interviews using questionnaires and direct observations based on hygiene and food sanitation standards in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Health No. 1096/Menkes/PER/VI/2011. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods with the Chi-Square test at a significance level of p < 0.05. The results showed that most food handlers exhibited poor hygiene behavior (61.0%). There were significant relationships between knowledge (p = 0.048), attitude (p = 0.000), and availability of facilities and infrastructure (p = 0.000) with hygiene behavior, while education level showed no significant association (p = 0.187). It can be concluded that improving hygiene behavior requires continuous training, supervision, and provision of adequate sanitation facilities to support food safety in school environments.

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of waste management in preventing fires at the Alak Landfill (TPA) in Kupang City using a qualitative case study approach. Data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving officials from the Environmental and Sanitation Office, landfill workers, waste pickers, and surrounding communities. The findings indicate that the effectiveness of waste management remains low. In terms of input, financial resources, infrastructure, and human resources are insufficient to support optimal operations. During the process stage, waste collection and transportation are hindered by low public compliance, limited vehicles, and minimal waste segregation. Final waste processing still relies on the open dumping method, which increases waste accumulation, methane generation, and fire risks. In terms of output, various mitigation efforts have not successfully reduced the recurring fire incidents due to limited facilities, inadequate compaction, and the absence of gas monitoring systems. The results highlight the need for increased budget allocation, improved facilities, enhanced human resource capacity, and the implementation of safer and more sustainable waste management methods to reduce fire risks at the Alak Landfill.

Local economic development in the village is a major factor in sustainable development. This study aims to understand how tourism villages and creative industries can work together to improve the local community's economy. The method used is a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. With in-depth techniques, data collection includes observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The results of this study indicate that the synergy between Gronjong Wariti tourism and the Emping Melinjo creative industry has great potential to improve the economy of the Mejono Village community in order to increase income, open job opportunities, and improve people's lives. However, there are several obstacles faced, including a lack of attention and support from the local government, minimal supporting facilities, low quality of human resources (HR), the use of simple production technology, and suboptimal promotion. The Emping Melinjo creative industry faces several serious challenges, such as limited quality raw materials, dependence on middlemen, and low public awareness of the village's potential. Relatively high product prices also reduce purchasing power. To address this, we need to strengthen marketing networks and seek more stable alternative sources of raw materials. Furthermore, business management is suboptimal. Therefore, strategies are needed to optimize this synergy, such as improving human resource quality, product quality, and promotion, enhancing management capabilities, developing supporting infrastructure, fostering product innovation, and developing a monitoring and evaluation system.

This study discusses in depth the factors that cause and efforts to overcome the crime of trafficking in persons (TPPO) in the jurisdiction of the East Nusa Tenggara Police (NTT), which is known to have the highest number of trafficking cases in Indonesia. Using a juridical-empirical approach through interviews with nine resource persons consisting of law enforcement officials, women and child protection institutions, and the community, this study shows that although the substance of the law is quite adequate, its implementation is still weak and has not been able to cause a deterrent effect for perpetrators. Limited human resources, supporting facilities, and weak coordination between institutions are the main obstacles in the law enforcement process. Countermeasures are carried out through three main aspects, namely preemptive (counseling, socialization, and community economic empowerment), preventive (port supervision, formation of a monitoring team for illegal job vacancies, and cross-sector cooperation), and repressive (investigation, arrest, and legal process against perpetrators). This research also emphasizes the importance of increasing the capacity of the apparatus, synergy between agencies, and public education as sustainable steps in reducing the number of trafficking and protecting victims as a whole.

However, until now, MSME actors in the village still face limited knowledge and skills in utilizing digital technology, especially in the field of marketing. Most business actors still rely on conventional marketing methods, such as word-of-mouth promotion, which has an impact on limited market reach. Through this community service activity, it is hoped that MSMEs will be able to optimize digital marketing so that their marketing area becomes wider and more competitive. This service aims to assist and assist the community in registering the location of MSMEs and public facilities on the Google Maps platform. The method of implementing the service includes the stages of socialization, technical assistance, and direct MSME registration. The results of the activity showed that as many as nine MSMEs were successfully registered and their business profiles were optimized through a door-to-door approach. All business actors responded positively because they now have a digital footprint that makes it easier for consumers to find business locations. Thus, this activity is expected to increase business visibility, the competitiveness of MSMEs, and the welfare of the people of Selayang Village

This article investigates how Islamic Education teachers implement their professional competence in managing learning at a public Islamic senior secondary school in North Maluku, Indonesia. Teacher competence is understood as a multidimensional construct that includes pedagogical, professional, personal, social, and spiritual dimensions and is expressed through lesson planning, classroom instruction, and learning assessment. Using a qualitative naturalistic design, data were collected through participant observation, in depth interviews with teachers, school leaders, and students, and documentation of lesson plans and institutional records. The findings show that lesson planning is carried out consistently and aligned with the curriculum, but the depth and creativity of plans vary between teachers, with some documents remaining largely administrative. In classroom instruction, teachers demonstrate sincere efforts to create a conducive learning climate, connect Islamic teachings with students daily lives, and encourage participation, although limited use of educational technology, differences in student engagement, and classroom management challenges constrain the consistency of instructional quality. Assessment practices employ diverse techniques to evaluate cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains, yet the systematic use of formative and authentic assessment is still uneven due to workload and time pressures. Supporting factors include institutional backing through workshops and subject teacher forums, supportive leadership, adequate facilities, and teacher experience, while inhibiting factors comprise internal limitations in instructional design, external constraints related to technology and student diversity, and structural administrative demands. Overall, the study offers an integrated and context specific picture of how competence in learning management contributes to students understanding, motivation, and religious character.

This study aims to analyze the influence of terminal users’ perceptions on business development opportunities at Mangkang Type A Terminal, Semarang City, managed by the Central Java Class I Transportation Management Agency (BPTD). As a major transportation hub, the terminal functions not only as a passenger transit point but also as a strategic economic area with potential for commercial facility development. However, the utilization of business opportunities at Mangkang Terminal remains suboptimal, necessitating an evidence-based analysis of the factors that shape these opportunities. This research employs a quantitative approach using a survey method involving terminal users, including passengers, public transport drivers, and terminal visitors. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through multiple linear regression to examine the influence of user perceptions on business potential, which includes interest in facility usage, demand for additional services, and preferences for commercial space utilization. The findings indicate that perceptions related to comfort, safety, cleanliness, accessibility, and service quality significantly affect business development opportunities. Comfort and service quality emerge as the most dominant factors driving user interest in commercial facilities. These results emphasize that improving terminal service quality can serve as an effective strategy to expand business opportunities and enhance non-tax revenue.
