This study aims to analyze the character of Marisol in the film "A Man Called Otto" as a representation of the attitude of social care. Marisol is portrayed as a social activist who cares about the welfare of the surrounding community. The method used in this research is Roland Barthes semiotic analysis with a qualitative descriptive approach. The data collection techniques used are observation techniques, documentation techniques, and literature study techniques. The data is analyzed to identify how Marisol's social care attitude is reflected in her social interactions, real actions, as well as her thoughts and motivations. The results show that in the 8 scenes analyzed on Marisol's character, it shows that Marisol's character plays an important role in exploring the complexity of social care attitudes. Through her actions and sincere attitude towards social issues, Marisol represents the struggle for social justice and concern for human rights. The analysis also highlights how the character stimulates reflection in the audience on the importance of social care in shaping a more just and inclusive society.

This study aims to describe the meaning of denotation, meaning of connotation, and myth in the traditions of Ngulihi Tudung in the Karo tribe. This study is a qualitative descriptive study by applying a semiotic approach developed by Roland Barthes to uncover aspects of sign communication in the marriage tradition of Karo Ngulih Tudung which later differed from the public view of marriage traditions that began to be distorted. The data obtained in this study is a sentence, dialogue or sign that can communicate the message to be delivered to the marriage tradition of Ngulihi Tudung tribe Karo. The data analysis technique is to carefully identify signs and symbols in the Tudung Tradition, divide them into markers and markers, analyze the relationship of signs to form more complex meanings, analyse the meaning of denotations, analyse meaning of connotations based on cultural historical context to mythology as ideology based on the study of Roland Barthes' Semiotics, and write the conclusions of the research. The results of the study show that the meaning of the denotation in the marriage tradition of Ngulihi Tudung seeks to show the most tangible meaning in the sign. In other words, the Denotation of Roland Barthers in the sentence found in the Marriage tradition is what is described by the sign against an object. Connotation is expressive, involving more subjective and objective experience. In the marriage tradition Ngulihi Tudung invites the public to criticize as sharply as myths can see certain values or norms that work in society.

This study aims to analyze the meanings embedded in the film poster "Vina: Sebelum 7 Hari" using Roland Barthes' semiotic approach. Film posters not only serve as promotional tools but also as powerful mediums for conveying complex messages to the audience. Through semiotic analysis, this research reveals the denotative, connotative, and mythological meanings of the visual elements in the poster. Primary data was obtained from direct observation of the film poster sourced from Dee Company's official website, while secondary data was collected through various relevant literatures and theories. The analysis results indicate that the visual elements in the poster effectively depict the essence of the story and the main conflict faced by the character in the film. This conclusion underscores that the "Vina: Sebelum 7 Hari" film poster is not only visually appealing but also effective in conveying the film's narrative and central themes to the audience

Among the many verses used in the Dolalak Dance, the verse "Atas Pisang" holds a unique position. This verse is often recited at the end of the performance, signifying a solemn and message-laden conclusion. This study aims to examine the symbolism and meaning within the ‘Atas Pisang’ verse in the Dolalak Dance. This research is a qualitative interpretive study employing Roland Barthes' semiotic approach regarding denotation and connotation meanings. The findings indicate that the ‘Atas Pisang’ verse in the Dolalak Dance, through its symbolism and metaphors, conveys various relevant and wise life advice. The balance between visible outcomes and underlying essence, hope and recovery from difficulties, the importance of actions in pursuing desires, appreciation of the past and experiences, and wisdom in family relationships are the main messages conveyed. The ‘Atas Pisang’ verse teaches that a balanced life, filled with hope, active pursuits, appreciation of the past, and wisdom in family relationships are keys to achieving a harmonious and meaningful life.

Moral messages themselves contain sees on the qualities and standards that exist among a gathering. Virtues are the decency of people as people. Standards about how people should live to be great as people. Films are amusement, yet in addition data and training media, conveying data through motion pictures should be possible rapidly. This exploration expects to figure out the ethical message contained in the film Cinta Subuh. This exploration utilizes Roland Barthes' semiotic examination hypothesis, to be specific signification meaning, implication importance, and legend contained in the film Cinta Subuh. The examination area was directed on the advanced membership TV stage, Disney+ Hotstar. This examination strategy utilizes a subjective technique, which is an exploration system that produces enlightening information as composed or expressed words from individuals and ways of behaving that can be taken. The consequences of this study demonstrate that there are a few moral messages, specifically: counsel not to date, lying is a wrongdoing in any event, for goodness, focusing on morning supplications as an impression of life and the figure of kinship supporting the great way. In this unique situation, there is an end from this film that underlines the significance of trustworthiness in close connections. Genuineness is a general worth perceived in many societies and convictions.

This study aims to analyze the semiotic meanings and to find out the types of gestures in the BTS Blood, Sweat, and Tears In theory, Roland Barthes discusses three semiotic meanings: denotative, connotative, and myth. This study uses qualitative methods to examine the substance of the meaning of the phenomenon. Researcher used books, theses, journals, and visual images taken from the BTS Blood, Sweat, and Tears music video as data sources to support analysis. The results of this study: there are 10 data where each data has one to four scenes. From the 10 data, there are types of gestures which include 6 data belonging to the illustrator gesture type, 2 data including the embellishment gesture type, and 2 data belonging to the illustrator gesture type. Of all the semiotics presented, the meaning of this music video is the story of resistance, denial, and eventually acceptance. Once cannot stand in the museum of their life forever and look longingly at the mementos of the past. The world is a place of complex relationships between light and dark, good and evil, virtuosity and sin. As we all cross the threshold of puberty we are faced with the choices that shape our lives. No one person is immune to the temptations of such a life and seeing it, understanding it for what it is, and making those choices is all we can do. No one remains untouched by the darkness.

Sedeng Sang is a film that tells the story of the conflict between families who have different views on the continuation of their children's education, because of the family's lower class economic background. Poverty is still an obstacle for people to get access to proper education because the income that is considered to support life is very uncertain, as farmers use traditional tools. The aim of this film is to invite viewers to reflect on the social situation of underprivileged families as a reality that still occurs today. The films presented show various conditions of poverty through clothing, food, shelter, and work. The research carried out aims to analyze how poverty is present in the film Sedeng Sang. The semiotic theory developed by Roland Barthes was chosen because it is in accordance with the research objectives in obtaining the results of this research. This research also uses descriptive qualitative to obtain results and explain the research results to be achieved. This research produces an analysis of the representation of poverty in the film Sedeng Sang as well as Roland Barthes' theory as a method that displays denotative, connotative and myth.

The film Habibie & Ainun 3 is a 2019 Indonesian romantic biographical film directed by Hanung Bramantyo and written by Ifan Ismail. This film is a continuation of Rudy Habibie (2016), a prequel to Habibie & Ainun, as well as the third film in the Habibie & Ainun series. If Rudy Habibie tells the story of young Habibie, then Habibie & Ainun 3 tells the story of young Ainun. This article aims to describe the film Habibie & Ainun. In this film we will analyze language. Linguistics are the elements contained in a language, whether spoken or written. All matters related to language are called linguistics. Meanwhile, linguistic rules are definite rules, propositions, or guidelines used in language. This film is being analyzed using a descriptive qualitative approach. The method of data acquisition employed is documentation, which consists of listening and taking notes. Based on the results of the analysis, a variety of language styles were found which showed comparative language styles, conflicting language styles, satirical language styles, affirmative or repetition language styles.

This research uses qualitative methods with semiotic analysis from Roland Barhes. Semiotics is a method for analyzing signs to find meaning in social and cultural phenomena. The aim of this research is to find out what visual meaning is contained in the Ichsan Gorontalo University logo which is used as an agency identity in terms of denotation, connotation and myth. Corporate identity is a reflection of the vision and mission which are visualized through the logo. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method, namely the data collected is in the form of words and images. With the right logo, the message regarding the company's desired identity can be represented effectively. Data collection techniques use documentation/library techniques and observation. The results of this research will explain the meaning of the Ichsan Gorontalo University logo which has signs/symbols and colors that will be differentiated based on Roland Barthes' approach.

Film is an influential visual mass communication medium and has various roles. Films usually contain values that have meaning or messages for the audience. Some signs appear in mass communication as messages that have meaning. These signs can be analyzed using sign science or semiotics. This research focuses on Roland Barthes' semiotics, which analyzes the meaning of signs using denotative, connotative, and meta-language or mythical meaning systems. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. The data sources presented in this research were obtained directly from the research object, namely the film Dunia Without Suara, and other sources such as books and articles related to the focus of this research. The data collection technique in this research is a documentation study of the film Dunia Without Suara. Based on the analysis that has been carried out using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory, several scenes have meaning from circumstances, events, and shortcomings within a person.

Literary works are literary results, creations in the form of poems, prose, and plays (drama). Literary works are born as embodiments or depictions of life poured through the medium of writing. Therefore, it is closely related between literature and life. Through literature, the reader can express the meaning behind the work of the author. This research would examine a short story entitled "Gubrak!" by Seno Gumira Ajidarma. "Gubrak!" short story tells about a beauty that actually creates its own wounds. The purpose of this study was to describe the meaning of multiplication (perlexia) and the analysis of the five Barthes codes contained in the short story "Gubrak!" using Roland Barthes's theory of semiotics. The methods used in this study were qualitative descriptive methods as well as semiotic approaches with Roland Barthes' five-code semiotic theory consisting of hermeneutic codes, semic codes, symbolic codes, action codes, and referential codes. The result of this study was the discovery of 53 lexicons, each of which has a meaning, including 9 hermeneutic codes, 29 semic codes, 5 action codes, 3 referential codes, and 8 symbolic codes. Through this analysis, the meaning and message could be drawn that you have enough because anything excessive is not good. This research would analyze the hidden signs in each word or sentence in the short story. Barthes semiotics was used to find out the meaning contained in the short story so it is interesting to study using the Barthes five-code approach.

This research aimed to analyze bullying scenes in "A Silent Voice" animation from Kyoto Animation Studio directed by Naoko Yamada. In this study, the researcher used Roland Barthes Semiotics analysis research method consisted of three analysis meanings which are denotation, connotation, and myth utilized an analysis unit which are some scenes in "A Silent Voice" animation, and used information source in a form of documentation from "A Silent Voice" animation. The research result indicates that "A Silent Voice" movie has bullying scenes which can be categorized into three types namely physical bullying, verbal bullying, and relational bullying. Other than that, "A Silent Voice" animation illustrates that there are still many unjustice and bullying in school. This movie is useful so that people do not ignore bullying cases in school or other places

Humans need information to support the process of interaction with other humans. Songs are a medium for artistic and cultural expression that depict human life, religion and the personality of a nation. Family is the place where children are raised and educated. mothers gain other roles as they become a single parent because of death of the spouse or divorce. The mother's role increases because she also acts as a father figure who is not in the family. Dawai Song (Tears at the End of the Sajadah) contains the figure of the struggle of a mother who was separated from her 7 year old child by her grandmother. Based on the explanation above, the aim of the problem is to find out the meaning of a mother's struggle and the meaning of denotation, connotation and myth in the song Dawai (Air Mata Di Ujung Sajadah)? This research methodology uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis methods. This analysis uses semiotic theory which refers to Roland Barthes' model, which focuses on the meaning of denotation, connotation and myth.

This movie tells about the struggles of Tokise’s high school student which joined in Tokise’s Koto Club to defended their club from disbanded by vice principal. Method which used in this research is descriptive-qualitative method. For data analysis used Roland Barthes Semiotic theory. Roland Barthes Semiotic has two step of signification, first step has denotation, and then developed it into the second step that is connotation or myths.

The purpose of this research is to find out the visual and verbal signs in L’Oréal Paris shampoo advertisements and to explain the visual and verbal signs and meaning that are represented in L’Oréal Paris shampoo advertisements by using semiotics theory by Roland Barthes. This research used a descriptive qualitative method to analyze the collected signs in the whole picture of the advertisement of L’Oréal Paris shampoo. In addition, the researcher collected the data from Pearl Chemist Group which had the best of five of L’Oréal Paris shampoo advertisements. The findings indicate denotative meanings of signs revealed were black hair, long hair, wavy hair, woman, smiling face, purple dress, purple shirt, orange background, black belt, and products of L’Oréal Paris shampoo. The connotative meanings of the signs revealed elegance, friendliness, confidence and self-esteem, freedom of expression and creativity, and empowerment of women.

Batman is a well-known superhero and is loved by many people from all walks of life, an interesting Batman character for not having superpowers like other superheroes. In addition to the character Batman has a striking logo and is an identity for Batman. In 1966 Batman released a series of films with decorative designated logos in which Pop Art's chests developed rapidly. Each logo is a visualized identity that has a meaning, using a qualitative method with Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis approach. The purpose of the study was to find out what values and meanings were cooped up in the 1966 Batman logo, which was influenced by the then-developed Pop Art style trend. Based on research results, it can be inferred that the use of the 1966 Batman logo influenced by Pop Art style and the visual elements of the logo suggests that the brief logo is an image and that Batman superhero has an intelligent, intellectual, optimistic nature of rooting out crime.

Dear David menimbulkan kontroversi dan perdebatan panjang kalangan penonton di media sosial. Akibatnya karena dianggap menormalisasikan tindakan pelecehan seksual terhadap kaum laki-laki. Penelitian ini mengkaji representasi stereotip perempuan melalui petanda dan penanda di balik skenario, gambar, adegan, dan teks yang terdapat dalam film. Penelitian ini menggunakan deksripstif kualitatif yang mengacu pada teori semiotika Roland Barthes. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan metode dokumentasi dengan teknik rekam dan teknik catat sehingga diperoleh data primer. Teknik rekam dilakukan dengan mengamati lalu mendokumentasikan data pada film Dear David. Teknik catat dilakukan dengan mencatat data yang dibutuhkan pada cuplikan film Dear David. Analisis data yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari makna denotasi, makna konotasi, dan mitos yang terdapat dalam film Dear David untuk kemudian ditarik representasi stereotip perempuan di dalamnya. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa antara lain, (1) makna denotasi dalam film Dear David yang tergambar jelas melalui adegan-adegan merupakan makna yang sebenarnya terjadi di dalam film tersebut, (2) terdapat pula makna konotasi menggambarkan makna tidak langsung atau makna kultural yang muncul akibat adanya stereotip masyarakat, maka ditemukannya stereotip-stereotip positif dan negatif masyarakat terhadap perempuan di dalam film Dear David, (3) terciptalah mitos yang memunculkan pandangan masyarakat sehingga muncul pemikiran-pemikiran negatif dari stereotip-stereotip yang ditemukan. Film is a form of mass communication that appeals to all demographics. According to a Jakpat survey, 88% of Indonesians like Korean films. Film is one of the communication media that has recently developed very rapidly. The film Toxic 2022 tells how the character Han Young Ju presents herself as a woman. This research is entitled Representation of Women in the Film Toxic 2002. What makes it interesting to examine how women are represented in the film Toxic 2022 is that it aims to find out how the character Han Young Ju presents herself as a woman. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods for semiotic research on the concept of Roland Barthes. The research takes and selects scene cuts that depict female figures and then analyzes the meanings contained, among others, connotative meanings, denotative meanings, and myths. The data collection technique is documentation and observation. The focus of the research is on action signs (scenes) that contain connotative meanings, denotative meanings, and myths contained in the film Toxic 2022. The research took seven scenes for analysis. The results obtained by this study show that the character Han Young represents a woman who is like life, that is, in the world of work, and can become a leader. The depiction of the figure of Han Young Ju, who experienced the world of work and became a leader, is explained in gestures, dialogues, actions, expressions, storylines, and shooting.

This research aimed to describe visual meaning in animation movie Pacu Baluluak. study used qualitative descriptive method. This research problem on visual analysis (colour, gesture, and character), with a little review about Pacu Baluluak animation. In order to analyze the data, the researcher used semiotics review by Roland Barthes to define three meaning levels (denotative, connotative, and myth) on some scenes and visual (colour, gesture, and character) in Pacu Baluluak animation documented by the researcher. From the research result, it can be concluded that Pacu Baluluak animation has a good visual communication strategy in creating character, in a form of gesture, colour, and character so that it illustrates a strong character. The moral value in this animation is arranged well with a simple illustration, so that we can easily follow and understand the storyline.
