This study explores the stereotypes and prejudices held by Javanese students toward the Madurese ethnic group at the University of Trunojoyo Madura. Communication, as a fundamental social need, plays a crucial role in building relationships and understanding emotions. In the context of intercultural communication, differences in social and cultural backgrounds can trigger stereotypes that negatively affect interactions. To understand the perspectives of Javanese students in forming stereotypes about the Madurese, this research applies Standpoint Theory, which emphasizes that a person’s viewpoint is shaped by their social position and life experiences. This study employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological paradigm, collecting data through in-depth interviews and observation. This research explores the phenomenon of carok as a form of traditional violence that persists in Madurese society, particularly in Sampang Regency. Carok refers to a duel involving sharp weapons, usually carried out by men to defend their honor and dignity, which they believe has been tarnished. This study aims to identify the factors that cause carok from a criminological perspective and to analyze the efforts that have been made to address and prevent such incidents. The research employs an empirical legal method with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through interviews with local police officers, sub-district officials, village heads, and traditional leaders in Sampang District, as well as through documentation and field observations. The findings reveal that the primary causes of carok include issues related to personal honor—especially concerning a man’s wife—personal disputes, revenge, and social environments that legitimize violence as a way of resolving conflict. From a criminological standpoint, carok can be explained through social conflict theory and the concept of crime of passion. Efforts to prevent carok have included both preventive measures, such as legal education, and repressive actions by law enforcement authorities. However, these efforts have proven to be only partially effective due to the deeply rooted cultural values that continue to support carok as a traditional form of justice. Therefore, a more intensive cultural approach involving community leaders is necessary to promote peaceful conflict resolution and reduce the incidence of violence.

This research examines the impact of leadership style and communication on staff performance within an energy sector organization in Madura. The primary problem addressed is the need to understand how different leadership attributes and communication effectiveness impact employee productivity and satisfaction. In today’s competitive business environment, effective leadership and communication are essential for achieving organizational goals and fostering a motivated workforce. The objective of the study is to identify key indicators of leadership and communication that contribute to enhanced employee performance, thereby providing actionable insights for organizational improvement. A quantitative survey method was employed, utilizing a structured questionnaire with Likert scale items to gather data from 50 employees. This approach allowed for the collection of measurable data regarding employee perceptions of their leaders' styles and communication effectiveness. The analysis revealed that communication skills and the ability to control subordinates were rated highest by respondents, indicating satisfaction in these areas. However, lower ratings for motivational ability and emotional control suggest areas for improvement, highlighting the need for leaders to develop these critical skills further. The findings support the hypothesis that effective leadership and communication are critical for fostering a productive work environment, with significant implications for organizational success. The study concludes that organizations should prioritize leadership development and communication training to enhance employee engagement and performance. Limitations include the focus on a single industry, suggesting the need for further research across diverse sectors to validate these findings and explore their long-term impact on organizational outcomes. Future studies could also investigate the interplay between leadership styles and employee performance over time, providing deeper insights into effective management practices.

Madura, an island in East Java, is known for its rich cultural heritage. Despite this, prevailing stereotypes in society often emphasize negative aspects of Madurese culture, which can obscure its valuable and positive traditions. One such cultural gem is Daul music—a vibrant and rhythmic musical expression that deserves greater public appreciation. This study explores the design and development of a digital comic titled “The Sparkle of Madura’s Daul”, which aims to introduce Daul music to a younger audience, particularly teenagers aged 18–22, through the Webtoon platform. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive method, the research gathered data through observation, questionnaires, and interviews to inform the design process. The comic is created not only as an engaging entertainment medium but also as a tool for cultural education and preservation. By integrating narrative and visual storytelling, the comic presents Daul music in a compelling and accessible format, positioning it as a cultural asset comparable to the well-known Karapan Sapi. The final product is intended to reshape perceptions of Madurese identity, promote cultural pride, and encourage the appreciation of traditional music among youth. This initiative highlights the potential of digital media to bridge generational and cultural gaps while revitalizing local heritage through creative means.

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of varying honey concentrations on the antioxidant activity, chemical properties, and organoleptic quality of a probiotic kombucha beverage prepared from Clitoria ternatea L. The research was motivated by increasing exposure to free radicals due to environmental pollution and the demand for alternative natural antioxidants. Kombucha was produced with honey concentrations of 10%, 20%, and 30% (w/v), and analyses were performed using the DPPH assay for antioxidant activity, measurements of pH, total acidity, and total phenolic content for chemical properties, as well as sensory evaluations by trained panelists. The results showed that kombucha with 10% honey exhibited the lowest IC₅₀ value, indicating the highest antioxidant activity, while higher concentrations increased the total phenolic content without significantly enhancing the effective antioxidant potential. These findings suggest that excessive honey addition does not necessarily improve the functional benefits of the product, indicating the need for further formulation optimization to develop a high-quality, marketable probiotic beverage.

This study analyzes the effectiveness of the MSME empowerment program in Madura Regency in improving community welfare. Empowerment programs that include entrepreneurship training, access to capital through People's Business Credit (KUR), and business assistance show positive results in increasing the capacity of business actors. Based on survey data, most of the program participants experienced an improvement in business management and marketing skills. The positive impact was also seen in the increase in average household income by 30% and the opening of new jobs. However, challenges remain, especially related to the equitable distribution of benefits in rural areas, low digital literacy, and program sustainability. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method, supported by the Theory of Change theory to analyze the impact of programs on socio-economic changes in the community. The results of the study show that the empowerment of MSMEs makes a real contribution to the welfare of the community, although continuous evaluation is needed to ensure the sustainability and equitable distribution of program benefits throughout the Madura Regency area. By strengthening the synergy between the government, financial institutions, and local communities, it is hoped that the impact of MSME empowerment can be more optimal.

This research aims to reveal stability Friedrich Carl Von Savigny’s thoughts on the existence of annual sale and purchase customary love establishment. This research uses legal research methods, namely research carried out on legal norms that develop in society. The approach used is a conceptual and historical approach. The types and sources of data used in this research are primary and secondary data. The results of this research show that the teachings of the historical school initiated by Von Savigny emphasize that law is a reflection of the soul of the people that grows together with the people’s growth of the people and becomes strong together with the people’s strength. Furthermore, in the end, it dies if the nation loses its nationality. Thus, adherents of the historical school reject the view that law is made by an authorized institution, such as by making laws. Meanwhile, customary law that exists in Madurese society as the customary law of the Madurese people in some villages, such as “annual purchase and sale,” as the customary law of the community is maintained in the practice of annual purchase and sale of a plot of land that is perhaps not found in other areas in Indonesia. It is similar to the historical school, namely that law grows together with the growth of society and becomes strong together with the strength of society. Furthermore, in the end, it dies if the nation loses its nationality. This condition is recognized as existing by the constitution of the Indonesian legal state as regulated in Article 18B paragraph (2) of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.
