The competitiveness of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia often faces obstacles due to limited product packaging that fails to adequately reflect product quality, uniqueness, and brand identity. Packaging is not merely a protective container but also a strategic communication tool that influences consumer perceptions, shapes brand image, and supports market expansion. This community service program was carried out at the Banana Chips MSME “Bu Tini” in Semarang, which previously relied on simple plastic packaging without graphic design, brand logo, or product information. The main objective of this program was to assist the MSME in developing both the design and functional aspects of packaging as a strategic effort to strengthen branding, enhance product value, and improve competitiveness. The methodology applied was community-based and participatory, consisting of field observation, focus group discussions, collaborative design with the business owner, and prototype testing of new packaging. The results demonstrate that the redesigned packaging highlights a stronger visual identity through logos, colors, and slogans, while also ensuring practicality, durability, and compliance with food safety standards. Furthermore, the new packaging improved information clarity regarding composition, expiration date, and producer details, which significantly increased consumer trust in hygiene and quality. From a broader perspective, the activity fostered social transformation by raising awareness among the owner and workers about the importance of branding and professional packaging, developing new skills, and positioning the MSME as a role model for similar businesses in the community. This program implies that packaging development is not solely a visual improvement but a strategic branding instrument that can support MSMEs in achieving sustainability and greater competitiveness in local, regional, and potentially digital markets.

The balance of rights and obligations in contracts is a fundamental basis for creating justice and legal certainty. With effective protection for all parties in the contract, be it in the realm of commerce or other social relations, it is expected to create a conducive legal environment, which in turn encourages social and economic development. The process of drafting contracts in various fields, such as micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), shows the importance of good design to guarantee the rights of each party In this context, it is important to explore how the contract structure can be designed in such a way that both parties can fulfill their rights and obligations fairly, as well as serve as a guideline in resolving disputes that may arise in the future. rights and obligations are basic principles in contract law that aim to create justice, legal certainty, and balanced protection for all parties to the agreement. In the process of contract formation, balance is achieved through the principles of freedom of contract, good faith, and transparent negotiations so that the rights and obligations of both parties are arranged fairly and proportionally.

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) face complex challenges in competing in the global market, where innovative marketing strategies such as experiential marketing are believed to increase brand awareness and consumer loyalty. However, its effectiveness is still debated due to inconsistent findings and the lack of holistic studies that combine quantitative-qualitative approaches. This study aims to analyse the influence of the five dimensions of experiential marketing (Schmitt, 1999) on brand awareness and consumer loyalty of global MSMEs, while exploring the challenges of its implementation. A mixed-methods explanatory sequential design method was used, with quantitative SEM analysis (AMOS 28.0) on 250 global consumers and in-depth interviews with 15 MSME players. Results show the feel (β = 0.48, p < 0.001) and relate (β = 0.35, p = 0.002) dimensions have a significant effect on increasing brand awareness, which acts as a full mediator towards loyalty (indirect effect: β = 0.29, p < 0.01). Qualitative findings revealed cultural adaptation and resource allocation as keys to success. This research provides theoretical contributions by extending Schmitt's (1999) model through the integration of brand awareness as a mediator, as well as practical implications in the form of recommendations for glocalisation strategies and the use of AR/VR technology for MSMEs.

This study analyzes the use of symbols in the animated film Wall-E, directed by Andrew Stanton, which conveys environmental and social issues through a semiotic lens. The research applies a descriptive qualitative method, focusing on the interpretation of signs and meanings embedded within the film’s visual elements and narrative structure. The aim is to explore how symbolic representations contribute to the film’s critique of human behavior and modern lifestyles. The findings identify several key symbols used throughout the film. The barren, deserted Earth serves as a metaphor for environmental destruction caused by human greed and overconsumption. Wall-E, the main character, symbolizes resilience and hope amidst ecological collapse. A small green plant becomes a central symbol of renewal and the possibility of life returning to Earth. The spaceship Axiom represents a society dominated by extreme consumerism, where humans have become passive, dependent, and physically detached from nature. Additionally, the depiction of human interactions—or the lack thereof—illustrates the theme of social alienation driven by overreliance on technology. These symbols collectively function as a powerful critique of unsustainable living patterns, warning audiences of the consequences of neglecting environmental responsibility. Furthermore, the film emphasizes the need for balance between technological advancement and ecological awareness. In conclusion, this research highlights the effectiveness of animated films like Wall-E in delivering social and environmental messages. It suggests that cinema can be a potent medium for raising awareness, fostering critical thinking, and educating audiences about the importance of sustainability and human connection in the face of modern challenges.

Palu Bay is located in Central Sulawesi Province and is one of the active seismic bays in Indonesia which is crossed by the Palu-Koro fault segmentation. On September 28, 2018, an earthquake disaster occurred in this area accompanied by a tsunami and liquefaction. Palu City, Sigi Regency and Donggala Regency are areas that are severely affected by this disaster. Research in this region is to determine the level of preparedness of Small and Medium Industries in facing natural disasters in the future. The population of SMEs is 745 businesses/people with a probability sampling technique, namely Proportional Random Sampling. The assessment was carried out through a questionnaire involving 260 SME samples randomly selected in the three regions. The results of the study illustrate that the total preparedness of SMEs in the Palu Bay Area in facing natural disasters is 34.9% of respondents stated as "less prepared" to face natural disasters, 58.3% "somewhat prepared" and only 6.8% stated as "ready" while no respondents were "very prepared" to face natural disasters. The lack of preparedness of SMEs requires attention from all stakeholders, especially the Government through its program to improve disaster resilience for the community, especially Small and Medium Industry (SME) actors in this Region.

The rapid growth of financial technology (fintech) has significantly transformed the funding landscape for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), offering innovative financial solutions beyond traditional banking institutions. This study presents a bibliometric analysis of fintech’s role in SME financing, identifying emerging trends and research gaps. Utilizing bibliographic coupling and co-occurrence network analysis, data from Scopus were analyzed to uncover the intellectual structure and evolution of research in this field. The results highlight key themes, including the integration of blockchain, peer-to-peer lending, financial inclusion, and crowdfunding in SME financing. A particular focus on Islamic finance and Islamic crowdfunding indicates a growing interest in alternative financing mechanisms that align with Sharia principles. Additionally, the study reveals an increasing academic focus on fintech adoption in developing economies, particularly in Indonesia and Nigeria, where access to capital remains a critical challenge. The findings underscore fintech’s role in democratizing financial access for SMEs, bridging funding gaps, and fostering economic growth. Future research should investigate regulatory frameworks, risk management strategies, and technological adoption models to optimize the impact of fintech on sustainability in SME financing.

Kajian Ekonomi dan Akuntansi Terapan 2025 Asosiasi Riset Ekonomi dan Akuntansi Indonesia

This study aims to evaluate the influence of financial literacy, financial technology, and financial behavior on the financial performance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region. The approach used is descriptive quantitative, with primary data obtained through distributing questionnaires to 215 active MSME players. Data analysis was conducted using the Partial Least Square (PLS) method to assess the relationship between variables. The research findings indicate that financial literacy and financial behavior have a positive and significant impact on the financial performance of MSMEs. A good level of financial literacy helps businesses in preparing thorough financial reports, managing risks, and making the right financial decisions. Meanwhile, financial behaviors such as budget management, transaction recording, and regular financial evaluation have been proven to improve the stability and growth of business finances. On the other hand, the use of financial technology did not show a significant effect on financial performance, which may be due to the low level of understanding and access to such technology among MSME actors. The results of this study emphasize the importance of comprehensive counseling and training on financial literacy and the use of financial technology to improve the competitiveness and sustainability of MSMEs in the face of increasingly competitive market challenges.

Employee performance is a crucial aspect that plays a crucial role in maintaining the sustainability, productivity, and competitiveness of a company, including in the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector. Optimal performance levels not only impact the achievement of company targets but also influence customer satisfaction and business churn. One factor believed to be able to improve employee performance is the provision of rewards and motivation. Rewards can be financial or non-financial, which serve as a form of company appreciation for employee contributions. Meanwhile, motivation functions as an internal driver that raises work enthusiasm to achieve the best results. This study aims to analyze the effect of rewards and motivation on employee performance at the Nasi Kulit Syuurga MSME. The study used a quantitative descriptive approach with a saturated sampling technique, where the entire population of 32 employees were used as respondents. The research instrument was a structured questionnaire, and the data obtained were analyzed using multiple linear regression methods using SPSS version 25 software. The results showed that rewards have a significant influence on employee performance. This indicates that appropriate recognition can improve work quality and productivity. However, motivation partially did not have a significant effect on employee performance, which is likely caused by other factors such as working conditions, organizational culture, or suboptimal job satisfaction. Nevertheless, rewards and motivation have been shown to simultaneously contribute to improved employee performance. This finding underscores the importance of designing an effective reward system, coupled with more targeted motivation strategies, to enable MSMEs to retain high-performing employees and increase their competitiveness.
