Emesis gravidarum, or nausea and vomiting during early pregnancy, is common and affects the health and comfort of first-trimester pregnant women. Persistent symptoms can cause dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, reduced nutrient intake, and psychological distress, potentially impacting maternal and fetal health. Although pharmacological treatments exist, many pregnant women prefer non-pharmacological methods due to concerns about fetal safety. Aromatherapy, using essential oils such as lemon, peppermint, and lavender, has been explored as a complementary therapy to reduce nausea and vomiting through olfactory stimulation and autonomic nervous system modulation. This study aimed to assess the effect of aromatherapy on reducing emesis gravidarum in first-trimester pregnant women at Puskesmas Pagatan. A quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control group was employed, involving 40 participants divided into an intervention group (n=20) and a control group (n=20). The intervention group received lemon essential oil inhalation twice daily for seven days, while the control group continued standard antenatal care. Results showed significant reductions in nausea severity and vomiting frequency in the intervention group (p < 0.001). In contrast, the control group showed minimal, non-significant changes. These findings suggest that aromatherapy is an effective, safe, and culturally acceptable non-pharmacological approach for managing emesis gravidarum, enhancing maternal comfort and well-being during early pregnancy.

This research is a comprehensive midwifery care case study on Mrs. K from pregnancy to postpartum family planning conducted at the PMB Okta Saprina, S.Tr.Keb and Mrs. K's home from October-December 2023. The assessment during pregnancy found complaints of frequent urination which were addressed by counseling on reducing drinking at night. During labor, Mrs. K experienced severe pain on a scale of 8, which was reduced to moderate pain on a scale of 5 after being given lavender aromatherapy. Labor care stages I-IV were normal according to theory and without complications. The baby was born spontaneously, full-term, without complications. During the postpartum period, Mrs. K experienced breast engorgement which was treated with aloe vera compresses for 7 days until the complaint was resolved. Care for the newborn and postpartum period was according to standards. At 42 days postpartum, Mrs. K chose to use 3-month injectable contraception after being screened with the KLOP wheel. The management provided to Mrs. K was in accordance with evidence-based practice in providing comprehensive midwifery care, namely counseling for frequent urination, lavender aromatherapy for labor pain, and aloe vera compresses for breast engorgement with satisfactory results.

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever or known as DBD disease which is caused by a dengue virus caused by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito. The disease causes sufferers to experience severe pain, complications, and death. The UIN Walisongo KKN Team conducted community service activities in Krompaan Village with the aim of increasing public awareness and participation in preventing Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DBD). Considering that this village is located near a river, which has the potential to be a habitat for the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, effective prevention efforts are needed to prevent this disease, which is one of the infectious diseases that is still endemic in Indonesia. The spread of this disease is influenced by mobility and environmental conditions that support the breeding of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito. The community service team focused on three main objectives in this activity by providing education about the dangers of DBD, teaching how to prevent the spread of mosquitoes, and using aromatherapy candles to prevent mosquitoes. The purpose of the counseling is to reduce diseases caused by mosquitoes by teaching the community about how to live a healthy life.Used cooking oil processed into aromatherapy candles is one of the new innovations in preventing DBD. This method is considered practical and easy to implement by the community by utilizing materials available around them. The community is also educated on how to maintain environmental cleanliness, such as draining and closing water reservoirs regularly and recycling household waste to reduce the possibility of mosquito breeding grounds. The hope is that this outreach will make the community more independent in maintaining environmental health and actively involved in preventing dengue fever so that the risk of increasing cases in their village can be reduced. This activity has succeeded in achieving the stated objectives, namely increasing community awareness and involvement in preventing dengue fever.

Breast cancer is when cells lose their ability to run mechanisms as they should and function normally. The global prevalence of breast cancer is 2.3 million women diagnosed with the disease. The side effects of treatment and the cancer itself often cause fatigue, one of the most common complaints of breast cancer patients. The most common management is a non-pharmacological therapy of Benson relaxation and lavender aromatherapy to manage fatigue. This quasi-experimental research determined the influence of Benson relaxation and lavender aromatherapy on fatigue in breast cancer patients with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. This study involved a total of 31 breast cancer patients, selected through a purposive sampling technique. The Wilcoxon test found a p-value of 0.014 (<0.05), indicating the effect of Benson relaxation and lavender aromatherapy collaboration toward fatigue in breast cancer patients. Nurses anticipate the application of this research to manage patients' fatigue levels, while non-pharmacological therapeutic research could potentially lower fatigue rates in other chronic diseases by incorporating new variables and extending therapy duration for a more substantial impact.

This study investigated the effect of lavender aromatherapy massage on the quality of infant sleep in 2024. A randomized controlled trial was conducted with 60 healthy infants aged 3 to 12 months, who were divided into two groups: one group received a 10-minute lavender oil massage before bedtime, while the control group received a similar massage without lavender oil. Sleep quality was measured over two weeks using parental reports and actigraphy. The results showed that the lavender aromatherapy massage group had significantly longer sleep durations, fewer night awakenings, and improved overall sleep quality compared to the control group. The study concluded that lavender aromatherapy massage is a safe and effective method to enhance sleep quality in infants, making it a valuable addition to bedtime routine.

Sectio is a surgical operation to help pregnant women give birth by making an incision in the abdominal wall (laparotomy) and uterus (hysterectomy). Compared with regular births, which only cause about 9% more suffering, births by cesarean section cause about 27.3% more pain. Pharmacology and non-pharmacology can be used together to treat pain. Within 24 hours after a caesarean section, patients can experience a five times greater reduction in pain thanks to lavender aromatherapy. There are no risks associated with using the main active components of lavender oil, linalyl acetate, and linalool, which may provide a calming effect. When lavender aromatherapy is inhaled, the compounds it contains trigger the hypothalamus to produce endorphins which can calm and soothe. Lavender aromatherapy also has properties that make it antibacterial, analgesic, antidepressant and antispasmodic. By offering and using lavender aromatherapy, this research approach is descriptive and takes the form of a case report. The aim of this research is to determine whether the use of lavender aromatherapy can help patients after giving birth by caesarean section reduce their discomfort. After receiving lavender aromatherapy, the research findings changed from a scale of 7 to 3. Research findings show that the use of lavender aromatherapy can help postpartum patients undergoing cesarean section reduce their discomfort.
