This article discusses the lyrics of the song “Rasa Ini” by Vierratale as a representation of hidden feelings of love, emotional wounds, and doubts in relationships. Through a qualitative descriptive approach and Roland Barthes’ semiotic theory and Grice’s implicature theory, this article analyzes the figurative meaning in the song lyrics, especially the use of metaphor, symbolism, signs, connotation, denotation, and emotional narrative structures that emerge through a first-person perspective. The findings show that the lyrics of this song not only convey messages verbally, but also describe a strong inner mood through visualization of imagery, melody, musical nuances, and supporting poetic emotions. The presence of the background of the songwriter, Kevin Aprilio, also enriches the intertextual meaning that is manifested in the authenticity of emotions. This song is also a mirror of popular culture that reflects the dynamics of love in Indonesian society, especially love that is not conveyed directly, internalized in personal experiences, the psychology of the listener, and expressions of cultural identity.

This study analyzes the use of symbols in the animated film Wall-E, directed by Andrew Stanton, which conveys environmental and social issues through a semiotic lens. The research applies a descriptive qualitative method, focusing on the interpretation of signs and meanings embedded within the film’s visual elements and narrative structure. The aim is to explore how symbolic representations contribute to the film’s critique of human behavior and modern lifestyles. The findings identify several key symbols used throughout the film. The barren, deserted Earth serves as a metaphor for environmental destruction caused by human greed and overconsumption. Wall-E, the main character, symbolizes resilience and hope amidst ecological collapse. A small green plant becomes a central symbol of renewal and the possibility of life returning to Earth. The spaceship Axiom represents a society dominated by extreme consumerism, where humans have become passive, dependent, and physically detached from nature. Additionally, the depiction of human interactions—or the lack thereof—illustrates the theme of social alienation driven by overreliance on technology. These symbols collectively function as a powerful critique of unsustainable living patterns, warning audiences of the consequences of neglecting environmental responsibility. Furthermore, the film emphasizes the need for balance between technological advancement and ecological awareness. In conclusion, this research highlights the effectiveness of animated films like Wall-E in delivering social and environmental messages. It suggests that cinema can be a potent medium for raising awareness, fostering critical thinking, and educating audiences about the importance of sustainability and human connection in the face of modern challenges.

This study aims to analyze the forms and structure of social stratification portrayed in the animated film Zootopia, produced by Walt Disney Pictures. The film was chosen because it represents societal structures with various social layers through animal characters that reflect human social realities. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research, with data collection techniques involving observation and note-taking of scenes, dialogues, and narratives that illustrate social class divisions in the film. The study was conducted objectively without comparing it to the real-life society where the film was produced. The theoretical framework used in this study is based on Sorokin's theory, which divides society into three social classes: upper class, middle class, and lower class. Additionally, Soekanto's theory is applied, which classifies social stratification into closed, open, and mixed classes. The results of the study show that Zootopia presents a clear picture of social stratification. The upper class is represented by predators, such as lions and wolves, who hold power and have influential roles in the government. The middle class is symbolized by wealthy mice involved in mafia activities. The lower class consists of herbivores, who are perceived as weak, often discriminated against, and have limited access to power and resources. The film also illustrates an open class system, where certain characters from the lower class—such as Judy Hopps—are able to transcend social boundaries and achieve higher status through effort and merit.

This research uses qualitative research methods with Roland Barthes Semiotics theory with data on the lyrics of the song “Duration” by Feby Putri which dissects signs in two levels: denotation and connotation, as well as the myths contained in the song text. The main data source in this research is the lyrics of the song “Duration” which is accessed by YouTube on the official Feby Putri NC account, while secondary data is obtained from the website article www.RRI.co.id, music reviews and a podcast entitled “Feby Putri surgical song Duration with Indra Aziz |Dalem banget” on the youtube account VokalPlus by Indra Aziz. The data collection technique was done through documentation. The results showed that denotatively, the lyrics of this song describe the feelings of someone who realizes that being together with the person he loves has a time limit, whether due to circumstances, fate, or changing feelings. Connotatively, this song represents Feby's life story as an overseas child feeling lonely overseas when he returned to his hometown he found significant changes in his family, especially his mother who was getting older. Meanwhile, at the mythical level, this song reflects Indonesian cultural values about the importance of returning to one's hometown because family and loved ones are something very valuable, moments together must be utilized as well as possible because time keeps running and will never be repeated. Thus, the lyrics of Durasi are not just a melancholic song, but also a symbol of universal life reflections that are relevant to many individuals.

In the era of globalization, fashion accessories are no longer limited to functional purposes but have evolved into instruments of personal and cultural expression. Wallets, as one of the most widely used accessories, are now experiencing a shift in design orientation toward cultural values. This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of culturally designed wallets as an emerging modern trend through a comprehensive literature review. The research explores various academic and industry sources published between 2018 and 2024 to understand how cultural elements are integrated into wallet designs and how these influence consumer preferences. The study identifies three primary factors that drive consumer interest in culturally themed wallets: aesthetic value, sustainability, and innovation. Aesthetic value refers to the visual and symbolic appeal of cultural motifs, which resonate with consumers seeking uniqueness and identity. This study was conducted with the primary objective of examining in depth the influence of lesson venue on parents’ satisfaction in Laman Baru Village. The research focused on comparing two alternative locations that have been options for the community: conducting lessons in residents’ homes on a rotating basis and conducting lessons in the church. Each of these alternatives carries different characteristics in terms of comfort, symbolic meaning, as well as social and religious acceptance within the local community. The research method employed was a descriptive quantitative approach using questionnaires and field observations. Through this method, the researcher was able to obtain empirical data that reflected parents’ perceptions and real experiences regarding lesson venues. The collected data were then analyzed to determine the extent to which location affected satisfaction, comfort, sense of security, and parents’ involvement in supporting their children’s nonformal education activities. The findings revealed that the choice of venue significantly influenced parents’ attitudes and responses. Lessons conducted in residents’ homes were perceived as more inclusive, since they embodied a sense of togetherness and collective participation within the community. Furthermore, this venue was considered symbolically neutral, thus avoiding any impression of favoritism toward a particular religious group. It also opened wider opportunities for parents to be directly involved in supporting their children. On the other hand, lessons held in the church created resistance, particularly among non-Christian parents, who viewed the church as a less neutral venue laden with specific religious meaning. This condition potentially reduced the participation of certain community members and generated discomfort in a multicultural context. Therefore, these findings highlight the importance of considering social, economic, and religious sensitivities in determining the venue of nonformal education, so that the activities carried out can be broadly accepted and bring optimal benefits to the entire community.

This research aims to analyze how the church in the old and new testaments. The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative, which aims to understand the structure so that it has a major influence on contemporary Christianity. From a conceptual perspective, the Church in the Old Testament is understood as a community of God's chosen people whose identity is attached to the ethnic unity of the Israelites and attachment to the law within the framework of the covenant. While in the New Testament, the understanding of the Church undergoes a transformation into a universal, inclusive, and spiritual community of faith, consisting of all people who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, without ethnic or legal restrictions. In terms of structure and leadership, the Old Testament features a leadership system based on heredity and institutional positions such as priests and prophets who mediate the people's relationship with God; whereas in the New Testament, leadership is no longer hereditary, but based on the gift of the Holy Spirit, with a collegial, functional and participatory service model and Christ as the Head of the Church, emphasizing the dimensions of relationships and service in the community. In terms of sacraments, religious practices in the Old Testament such as religious celebrations functioned as symbols of obedience and identity of the people's covenant with God, but in the New Testament, so the sacramental meaning is renewed through baptism and holy communion which are spiritual and Christocentric, marking new fellowship in Christ in the context of grace. This study concludes that the New Testament cannot be understood as a break with or an abolition of the traditions and practices that existed in the Old Testament. Instead, the New Testament represents a theological fulfillment and essential transformation of the entire narrative and system that had been built in the Old Testament.

This study aims to analyze the design of Indonesian horror film posters through Pierre Bourdieu's sociological lens. The main focus of the study is to understand how the visual elements in the poster reflect the social dynamics, culture, and structure of the film industry. By using the concepts of habitus, capital (cultural, symbolic, economic), field, doxa, and social reproduction, this study reveals that the design of horror film posters not only functions as a promotional tool, but also as a medium that reproduces local cultural values and community beliefs about the supernatural world. Elements such as traditional ghosts such as genderuwo, kuntilanak and mystical symbols such as keris, offerings, then there are dark colors, and a scary atmosphere reflect the habits of audiences who are familiar with local myths. This study also shows that horror film posters reproduce stereotypes about the relationship between humans and the supernatural world, and strengthen the hierarchy of spiritual power through visual symbols. These findings confirm the relevance of Bourdieu's theory in understanding cultural phenomena through visual media. This study is expected to provide new insights for filmmakers, graphic designers, and students in understanding the interaction between culture, aesthetics, and the film industry.

Leadership is often associated with symbols, one of which is the rank insignia worn by regional leaders in Indonesia. This symbol is believed to provide legitimacy and authority to leaders; however, its effectiveness remains debatable, especially when compared to regional leaders in other countries who do not wear rank insignia. This study analyzes rank insignia from the perspectives of Christian theology and leadership psychology to understand its impact on performance, competence, and public perception of leadership. From a Christian theological perspective, ideal leadership emphasizes service over symbolic authority. Meanwhile, in psychological studies, rank insignia can enhance a leader’s confidence but may also create psychological distance from the public and increase mental pressure. This study compares the effectiveness of regional leadership with and without rank insignia, considering factors such as competence, transparency, and public participation. The analysis reveals that the substance of leadership is more important than visual symbols such as rank insignia. These findings provide implications for developing leadership based on performance and inclusivity, while also encouraging further research on the psychological impact of leadership symbols in modern governance.
