The mangrove forest at Litianak Beach, Holulai Village, Loaholu Subdistrict, Rote Ndao Regency, is a coastal ecosystem with high ecological and economic value. However, this area faces various challenges, including land conversion, overexploitation, and low community awareness of the importance of mangrove ecosystem conservation. This study aims to analyze the role of local institutions in the management of mangrove forest natural resources using a qualitative approach through field research methods. The research focuses on four key institutional aspects: context, structure, behavior, and performance. The findings indicate that mangrove management in Litianak Beach involves synergy between the village government, Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes), the Welaleo customary group, and the local community. This institutional structure has proven effective in raising public awareness and reducing illegal logging activities through customary regulations such as Papadak. However, challenges such as economic pressures, tourist waste, and uncertain access to mangrove resources remain obstacles that need to be addressed. The performance of the management shows positive results, marked by increasing community participation in conservation efforts and the development of sustainable mangrove resource utilization. This study highlights the importance of a participatory and culturally rooted local institutional approach in sustaining the mangrove ecosystem while improving the welfare of coastal communities. Strengthening institutional capacity and providing intensive environmental education are essential to ensure more effective and sustainable mangrove management in the future.

The problem of plastic waste has developed into an urgent global environmental crisis, due to the nature of plastic that is difficult to decompose and can persist in the environment for hundreds of years. This study explores pyrolysis as a promising oxygen-free thermal conversion technology to overcome plastic waste by converting it into valuable products such as oil, gas, and char. The main focus of the study is the use of zeolite catalysts in the pyrolysis of polyethylene plastic waste from household waste, with a total mass of 1.5 kg of plastic waste and 200 grams of zeolite catalyst. The catalyst used, natural zeolite from Klaten, Central Java, was heated at a temperature of ±200°C before being used in a pyrolysis reactor at an operating temperature of 450°C for ±4 hours. The results showed that the use of zeolite catalysts reduced the percentage of liquid and solid products, but increased the percentage of gas products. In addition, the use of catalysts tended to reduce the content of medium fractions (C11-C22) and paraffin fractions, while increasing the light fractions (C4-C11) and olefin fractions. These findings indicate the potential of pyrolysis as a sustainable solution to the plastic waste problem with positive impacts on the environment and economy.

Population density on the banks of the Ciliwung River, especially in the Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, continues to experience a significant increase. This study aims to analyze the impact of population density on flood frequency and environmental degradation in the area. The method used is a mixed approach with descriptive-analytical methods, then data is collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the high population density on the banks of the river narrows the water flow and increases the volume of household waste that is directly discharged into the river, thereby exacerbating the risk of flooding and reducing the quality of water and the surrounding environment. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of cooperation between the government, community, and other stakeholders in settlement planning, waste management, and environmental education and monitoring on an ongoing basis as an effort to mitigate flooding and improve the environment in the riverbank area

This study aims to find out the collaboration of actors in waste management in landfills (TPA). This study uses descriptive research using qualitative research methods and using Ratner's (2012) theory which includes Identification of Barriers and Opportunities, Debate Strategies to Influence, and Collaborative Action Planning. There were 5 informants in this study. The results of the study show that the collaboration that occurs in waste management has gone well, but there are still obstacles in overcoming existing problems. To identify obstacles and opportunities, there are situations and needs as well as resources that must be met, the collaboration that occurs between the Environment and Hygiene Agency and the head of waste management and b3 waste has been running but is not optimal enough due to the lack of resources in facilitating infrastructure facilities at landfills. Debate strategies to influence and increase public awareness and understanding require socialization related to understanding how to manage waste properly. The Head of the Environment and Hygiene Agency together with the Head of the B3 Waste Management Division have collaborated with the Mutiara Timor Waste Bank in providing effective socialization to reduce the volume of existing waste, but many people do not understand the socialization. Planning this cooperation action, there is a collaborative implementation strategy where the actors collaborate in planning the right implementation strategy to reduce the volume of waste in the landfill, but the collaboration between the Head of the Environment and Hygiene Agency and the Mutiara Timor Waste Bank has targeted 20% in handling the volume of waste, but the cooperation is only 5% that can reduce the volume of waste in the landfill because the socialization provided is still not understood by the Public. For the purpose and purpose of this cooperation is the target in reducing and handling waste from 2018-2025, if this cooperation runs effectively and successfully, slowly the volume of waste in landfills will decrease by itself.

Environmental crises such as climate change, ecosystem degradation, and pollution have prompted countries to formulate environmental policies aimed at preserving environmental sustainability. However, the effectiveness of these policies is often questioned, particularly in their implementation. This article aims to evaluate the impacts of environmental policies implemented over the past decade on biodiversity, air quality, and waste management, as well as to identify implementation barriers and provide recommendations for policy improvement. The study employs a literature review method by analyzing various scientific sources, policy reports, and related documents. The evaluation results indicate that economic incentive-based policies, such as carbon taxes and renewable energy subsidies, tend to be more effective in reducing emissions and promoting clean energy adoption. Nevertheless, policy implementation frequently faces obstacles including lack of political support, limited resources, public resistance, and weak inter-sectoral coordination. Improvement strategies are needed, including enhanced cross-sector collaboration, strengthened data and information systems, and public education to support the success of sustainable environmental policies.
