This study aims to analyze the optimization of the use of Village Funds in efforts to develop Pethung Park tourism in Belik Village, Trawas District, Mojokerto Regency, using  the New Public Governance (NPG) theoretical approach  from Osborne and Gabler. NPG theory emphasizes the importance of collaboration, participation, networking, decentralization, as well as transparency and accountability in public governance. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method by collecting data through interviews, observations, and documentation involving the village government, BUMDes, Pokdarwis, and the local community. The results of the study show that the Belik Village government has succeeded in making optimal use of the Village Fund as an instrument of local economic development and a means of community empowerment. The Village Fund is directed to tourism infrastructure development, human resource training, and digital-based tourism promotion. Collaboration between village governments, communities, and the private sector through BUMDes and Pokdarwis is able to create participatory and sustainable development governance. The real impact can be seen from the increase in the number of tourist visits, the growth of MSMEs, and the increase in the village's original income. This study concludes that NPG-based governance practices in Belik Village have resulted in development effectiveness and strengthened village economic independence. The results of this study can be a model for other villages in implementing the management of Village Funds for the tourism sector based on collaboration and community participation towards sustainable village development.

ABSTRACT Background: Traditional medicinal plants play a significant role in public health in Indonesia, particularly in Bali, where the local wisdom of Usada is upheld. One of the commonly used plants is sandalwood (Santalum album L.), which is empirically believed to treat skin issues and minor injuries. Purpose: This study aimed to examine the community's perceptions of sandalwood in Perean Tengah Village using the HBM approach. Method: A qualitative method with an ethnographic study design was employed, and five informants (four sandalwood users and one traditional healer) were purposively selected. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation, and they were analyzed thematically using NVIVO software. Results: The results indicated that the community recognizes their susceptibility to minor injuries resulting from daily physical activities and uses sandalwood as a form of first aid. Sandalwood is perceived as beneficial because it provides a cooling sensation, reduces pain and swelling, and is considered safe and practical for use. However, the main barriers to its use include the limited availability of sandalwood in the local area and reliance on supplies from other regions. Conclusion: The tradition of using sandalwood is preserved through intergenerational practices and positive personal experiences. This study emphasizes the significance of sandalwood for health applications, cultural identity, and the local wisdom of the Balinese community.

Public speaking is an essential communication skill that plays a crucial role in enhancing self-confidence, delivering ideas effectively, and fostering social participation. However, many women in rural areas still lack opportunities to develop this skill due to limited access to training, gender stereotypes, and minimal experience in public forums. These challenges lead to low levels of women’s involvement, particularly housewives who are members of PKK, in community activities and decision-making processes at the local level. This study aims to examine the impact of public speaking training on improving the knowledge, self-confidence, and social participation of PKK mothers in Nagari Sumpur Kudus. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with a participatory approach through interactive lectures, speaking practice simulations, reflective discussions, participatory observations, and qualitative evaluations. Data were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing based on field notes, observations, and participants’ feedback. The findings indicate that the training successfully improved participants’ understanding of basic public speaking techniques, including intonation, eye contact, body language, and structured idea delivery. Furthermore, the participants experienced significant growth in self-confidence, courage to speak in front of groups, and motivation to continuously practice their communication skills. The interactive and supportive learning atmosphere also strengthened collaboration and solidarity among PKK members. Thus, public speaking training not only enhances individual competencies but also contributes to women’s empowerment and their active participation in community development at the village level.

This Community Intervention activity aims to optimize the identity of Ujung Piring Village through place branding, which includes creating a village logo, profile video, and designing a site plan for the village square. The main problems faced by the village are the lack of a strong visual identity to optimise its potential and structured planning of village space/facilities. The methods used in the village site plan development activity were observation, interviews, and focus group discussions (FGDs). The results of the activity showed that the village logo successfully represented local values and history symbolically; the profile video was an effective medium for public communication; and the village square site plan provided direction for the development of a functional, aesthetic public space that supports social interaction. This activity proves that place branding can strengthen village identity, increase community engagement, and open up opportunities for village economic development. Further evaluation and monitoring are needed to assess the long-term impact of the implementation of this work program.

Cooking oil is a staple food widely used in daily cooking. However, repeated use of cooking oil, resulting in its conversion into used cooking oil, can have negative impacts on both health and the environment. Used cooking oil that has changed color and quality is carcinogenic and has the potential to increase the risk of cardiovascular disease if consumed again. Furthermore, improper disposal of used cooking oil can cause environmental pollution because it is difficult to decompose. This study aims to examine the wise management of household waste, especially used cooking oil, by utilizing it into products with utility value. One form of utilization is processing used cooking oil into environmentally friendly soap for laundry purposes. This activity was carried out as a form of community service through training in making soap from used cooking oil with the addition of essential oils for aromatherapy for residents of Pasar Rawa Village, Gebang District, Langkat Regency. The research method used was qualitative, with observation and direct participation in the training activities. The results showed that participants, particularly housewives, demonstrated high enthusiasm and were actively involved in both the presentation and the soap-making practices. This activity not only raised public awareness of the importance of managing used cooking oil waste but also provided new skills that have the potential to support family economic growth.

The informal institution of mutual cooperation (gotong royong) in the rice farming community in Bhera Village, Mego District, Sikka Regency, remains the main foundation of social solidarity and the sustainability of agricultural activities even though modernization and the use of labor have begun to shift traditional values. A qualitative approach with a case study method was used to explore the role, form, and meaning of mutual cooperation in agricultural practices. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies of rice farmers who are active in mutual cooperation activities. Data analysis was carried out through reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions using triangulation techniques to ensure the validity of the findings. The results show that mutual cooperation is manifested in every stage of farming, from uprooting seedlings, planting (planting), clearing weeds, to harvesting, which is carried out voluntarily and in turns through the Irutan Tradition system. This institution functions as a collective work mechanism that reduces production costs, overcomes labor shortages, and strengthens social ties between farmers. Beyond its economic function, mutual cooperation has profound social and cultural significance as a symbol of brotherhood, togetherness, and collective responsibility in maintaining the sustainability of local wisdom and the resilience of farming communities amidst social and technological change.

This research describes the role of the Zakat Collection Unit (UPZ) in community empowerment in Mojopuro Village, Jatiroto District, Wonogiri Regency. The background of this study lies in the condition of the UPZ, which had been established yet was not optimal in its management and functional capacity for zakat administration. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study method, data were collected through observations, interviews with BAZNAS and mosque administrators, as well as documentation of seminars and the inauguration of zakat administrators. The findings reveal that the establishment and inauguration of the UPZ by BAZNAS marked the beginning of strengthening village-level zakat institutions. Seminars for mosque administrators improved their understanding of zakat management in accordance with Islamic law and fostered collective awareness of the importance of zakat for economic empowerment. The UPZ plays a role in identifying mustahik, managing funds transparently, and distributing them through community-based productive programs. The UPZ, guided by BAZNAS, holds a strategic role in reinforcing the zakat management system at the village level and has the potential to become an effective instrument for community economic empowerment.

This study aims to analyze the role of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) in improving community welfare in Tanarawa Village, Waiblama District, Sikka Regency, and to evaluate the implementation of BUMDes programs. Tanarawa Village has primary economic potential in the plantation and food crop sectors, managed largely by the community as farmers. BUMDes was established as an instrument for village economic empowerment with the aim of increasing Village Original Income (PAD), strengthening the local economy, and maximizing the utilization of natural resources and human resources. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that BUMDes Tanarawa is still in the development stage, although it has been able to contribute to community welfare through the provision of basic necessities, training, outreach, and consultations related to business management. The success of BUMDes is influenced by government support, quality leadership, community participation, and transparent and accountable management. However, limited understanding by the community and village officials, as well as obstacles in implementing outreach, are inhibiting factors that need to be addressed. This study confirms that BUMDes plays a strategic role in local economic empowerment, improving community welfare, and equitable distribution of village economic growth.

This study is motivated by the high frequency and significant impacts of flooding in Indonesia, particularly the recurrent flooding of the Kali Lamong River in Gresik Regency, which causes substantial socio-economic losses each year. Although disaster management is normatively regulated by national policies, its effectiveness depends largely on collaborative governance among multiple actors. This study aims to analyze the practice of collaborative governance in flood mitigation in Gresik Regency using the model of Weber, Lovrich, and Gaffney (2005), which includes vertical, horizontal, and partnership dimensions, and to identify the key challenges that hinder its implementation. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed in flood-affected areas along the Kali Lamong River, involving BPBD, DPUTR, sub-district governments, village authorities, and local communities through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal that collaboration has been established and functions relatively well, particularly in hierarchical coordination, division of roles among government agencies, strengthening of Destana, KENCANA, and SPAB programs, as well as CSR involvement and community participation all contributing to reduced flood duration. However, the implementation of collaborative governance remains constrained by slow land acquisition and infrastructure development, a predominantly reactive orientation, suboptimal early-warning systems between upstream and downstream areas, and uneven support from the private sector and academia. The study concludes that strengthening collaborative mechanisms and accelerating the resolution of structural barriers are essential to achieve more sustainable flood mitigation efforts in Gresik.

This study aims to analyze the marketing strategies of Islamic bank products based on sharia values implemented in Mojoarno Village (Ikhsanudin et al. 2024). The background of this research is the increasing development of Islamic banking in Indonesia which is not always followed by sucient understanding of sharia nancial products at the rural level (Qothrunnada et al. 2023). This condition requires Islamic banks to design marketing strategies that are not only focused on product promotion, but also on education, empowerment, and strengthening public trust (Damayanti 2023). This research uses a qualitative case study approach on an Islamic bank that actively conducts marketing activities around Mojoarno Village (Yin 2018). Data were collected through in-depth interviews with bank marketing sta , religious leaders, and customers, participatory observation in socialization and religious activities, as well as documentation of promotional materials and internal reports (Miles and Huberman 2014). The data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing with source and technique triangulation to ensure validity. The ndings show that marketing strategies integrated with sharia values—such as justice, transparency, and avoidance of riba, gharar, and maysir—combined with religious and cultural approaches through mosques and majelis taklim can increase public literacy and interest in Islamic bank products (Rahman, Aji, and Sopingi 2023). However, several challenges still remain, including low initial nancial literacy, strong informal nancial practices, and limited marketing resources in rural areas (Syifa, Nasution, and Inayah 2024). The implications of this research emphasize the importance of synergy between Islamic banks, religious leaders, and local communities to develop sustainable sharia-based marketing models in rural contexts.

Sambofuar Village in Samofa District, Biak Numfor Regency, faces various maternal health challenges due to limited access to healthcare services, low socioeconomic conditions, and inadequate capacity of posyandu cadres in supporting pregnant women with high-risk conditions. With a population of 954 people and 228 households, only 64% of pregnant women received antenatal care during the second trimester, while 18% did not undergo any pregnancy check-up. To address these issues, the Student Creativity Program was implemented using a community-based cadre empowerment approach. The program was carried out from October 11 to December 9, 2024, involving five posyandu cadres, most of whom were 50–59 years old, had an elementary school education, and had more than five years of experience. The intensive training provided resulted in a significant increase in knowledge, where pre-test scores ranging from 30–50 improved to 70–90 in the post-test. Mentoring activities at the posyandu also showed that all cadres (100%) were able to perform their duties effectively, including providing health education and independently assisting high-risk pregnant women. This program has contributed positively by improving cadre competency, strengthening maternal health literacy, and potentially reducing the risk of pregnancy complications. Overall, cadre empowerment through training and education has proven effective and should be continued to strengthen the maternal health system in Sambofuar Village.

This study aims to analyze in-depth the interest of the Setro Village community in choosing PNM Mekaar Syariah financing as a source of capital for micro and small enterprises (MSMEs). This phenomenon is interesting because it shows how economic, social, and spiritual factors contribute to the financial decisions of rural communities. This research was conducted using a qualitative exploratory approach, using case studies and in-depth interviews with key informants. To explain the relationship between attitudes, subjective norms, and behavioral control on community intentions to choose Islamic financing, data analysis was conducted thematically. The Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) framework was also used. The study shows that positive community perceptions of ease of access, economic benefits, and compliance with Islamic principles are the main factors shaping community interest in PNM Mekaar Syariah. Fast, easy, and uncomplicated financing increases consumer trust and enhances perceived behavioral control. Conversely, increased business capital and family income enhance the sustainability of micro-enterprises. The institution is given moral legitimacy and spiritual conviction by the implemented Islamic values, such as the yield system and the freedom from usury. Community participation decisions are also driven by social factors such as group support, advice from group leaders, and the quality of service provided by field officers. Theoretically, this study adds local religiosity and socio-cultural aspects to enrich the application of the Theory of Planned Behavior in the context of rural Islamic finance.

Business legality is a very important component in the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Business legality provides MSME players with legal protection, easier access to financing, and greater opportunities for growth. The Business Identification Number (NIB) is the official identity of business actors used to obtain business licenses and commercial or operational permits through an integrated electronic licensing system, namely Online Single Submission (OSS). The objective of this community service program is to increase the understanding and awareness of MSME actors in Kelayu Selatan Village, Selong District, East Lombok Regency, regarding business legality, particularly the creation of an NIB. To support more efficient assistance tailored to the needs of each business operator, this activity was conducted door-to-door and included several stages, such as observation and data collection on MSMEs, dissemination of information on the importance of business legality, assistance in creating OSS accounts, and assistance in the application process until the issuance of the NIB. The results of the activity showed an increase in awareness and knowledge about the importance of business legality. It is hoped that this program will encourage MSMEs to transform into formal businesses that are competitive and sustainable.

Introduction: Stunting remains a major public health problem in Indonesia, including in Blang Teue Village, North Aceh, where the prevalence of children at risk of stunting reaches 28% (Public Health Center, 2023). The main contributing factors are mothers’ limited knowledge of locally sourced complementary feeding (MP-ASI) and restricted access to nutrition education media. This community service program aimed to empower the community by developing QR Code-based interactive educational posters as an accessible and user-friendly nutrition learning tool. Methods : The method employed was Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) with a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, involving 30 respondents (mothers of toddlers), health cadres, village officials, lecturers, and students. Results : The results indicated a significant improvement in mothers’ knowledge regarding local MP-ASI, where the percentage of respondents with high knowledge increased from 20% to 67% after the intervention. Utilization of QR Code media was also high, with 60% of respondents accessing it intensively, and a positive relationship was found between the intensity of media utilization and knowledge level (83% of high-intensity users achieved high knowledge). Conclusion : This program not only enhanced community knowledge and skills but also fostered the emergence of local leaders from health cadres and PKK members, as well as promoted social transformation through strengthened digital literacy and the use of local food in stunting prevention.
