This study examines the educational challenges of fishermen's children in Eretan Wetan Village, focusing on economic factors, accessibility, and cultural views that influence their participation in formal education. The purpose of the study was to identify the barriers faced by fishermen's children in accessing education, and to develop recommendations to improve the quality of education in coastal areas. The method used was qualitative research with a case study approach, where data were collected through in-depth interviews and direct observation of the lives of fishing communities. The results showed that poor socio-economic conditions of families, limited access to education due to the distance of schools, and cultural views that prioritize work as fishermen over formal education, were the main obstacles. Therefore, community-based interventions are needed to overcome these barriers, as well as government policies that support the development of educational infrastructure and increase awareness of the importance of education to empower coastal communities and break the cycle of poverty.

Background: Aging leads to physical deterioration, which makes the elderly dependent on others for daily activities. One way to increase their independence is through physical activities such as elderly gymnastics. Regular participation in elderly gymnastics can restore physical function, improve joint, muscle, and movement coordination, and enhance heart function, leading to a healthier and fitter body. Method: The program began with a preparation stage, followed by elderly gymnastics training and counseling. This activity took place in one session, targeting both independent and assisted elderly individuals. The elderly gymnastics included basic exercises with a warm-up, core movements, and cooling down, lasting approximately 15-30 minutes. Afterward, an evaluation of the activity was conducted. Results: A total of 60 elderly individuals participated in the gymnastics session, which included warm-up, core, and cooling exercises. The participants appeared enthusiastic and easily followed the movements, especially with music accompaniment. However, some had difficulty with foot movements due to balance issues. After the gymnastics session, counseling was provided on the importance of doing elderly gymnastics independently. The elderly were very engaged during the counseling and asked several questions afterward. Conclusion: Elderly gymnastics can be incorporated as a routine activity in elderly health programs like posyandu, helping the elderly become more independent with a healthy and fit body. The BE-FAST method assesses balance, eyes, face, arms, speech, and timing to identify early signs of stroke. Results: The results showed that 55.7% of participants had hypertension, and 67.1% had difficulty moving their legs and arms on one side of their body. Additionally, 36.7% had difficulty opening their eyes or experienced vision problems, and 32.9% experienced facial weakness or numbness. The BE-FAST method is effective in detecting early signs of stroke, with a sensitivity of 92%. Conclusion: This study highlights the importance of early detection of stroke using the BE-FAST method in the elderly population. The research results show that this method is effective in identifying early signs of stroke and can be easily taught and applied in the community. Application of this method can reduce the risk of stroke and associated morbidity and mortality.
