This study aims to identify and analyze syntactic errors made by students in their academic writing. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study explores in depth the forms of errors that appear and the general patterns formed in students' sentence structures. Data were obtained from various documents of students' academic writing, such as essays, papers, and observation reports. The results of the study indicate that the dominant syntactic errors include incomplete sentence construction, inappropriate use of conjunctions, the influence of regional languages in sentence structures, inaccuracy in phrase formation, and errors in the structure of subjects, predicates, and objects. These findings reflect students' weak mastery of Indonesian language syntax rules. Therefore, more effective learning strategies are needed, such as the use of discovery-based learning methods and providing direct feedback, to improve students' syntactic competence. Syntactic error analysis not only functions as an evaluation of language skills, but also as a basis for developing contextual and relevant teaching materials.

As the world’s largest archipelagic state, Indonesia holds a strategic geographical position that simultaneously renders it vulnerable to multifaceted maritime security threats. One of the most pressing recent issues is the construction of a coastal barrier (pagar laut) along the Tangerang coastline in Banten Province, which has raised significant legal, social, and environmental concerns. This study examines the legality of such structures through the lens of international maritime law, particularly the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) 1982. Employing a normative legal approach and qualitative analysis, this research assesses both national and international legal instruments relevant to maritime space governance. The findings indicate that the unauthorized construction of the coastal barrier violates several national regulations namely, laws governing coastal management, marine utilization, and environmental protection while also infringing upon core UNCLOS principles such as the right of innocent passage, freedom of navigation, and marine environmental protection. This study underscores the urgent need for integrated national maritime governance, regulatory harmonization, and cross-sectoral coordination to ensure compliance with international legal standards and safeguard public access to marine spaces. The Tangerang coastal barrier case exemplifies the rise of non-traditional maritime security threats in Indonesia, calling for more assertive and structured legal and policy responses.

This study aims to analyze the power of sentence structures in constructing conflict narratives in news reports about a foreign national (WNA) causing a disturbance in Kalibata City. Through a syntactic analysis approach, this research examines how sentence structures, lexical choices, and information hierarchies influence public perception of the incident. The data is analyzed using modern syntactic theory and critical discourse analysis, referencing the works of Fairclough (2020) and Halliday (2021), which emphasize the relationship between language structures and media power. The findings reveal that the use of passive constructions, subordinate clauses, and repetition of conflict-related elements intensify the dramatization and tension within the narrative. Thus, syntactic power in news texts does not merely convey information but also constructs a social perception of the reported conflict. These findings contribute to critical linguistic studies and media literacy.

This study aims to analyze the interpretation of the issue of gender performativity in the two picture books,  Introducing Teddy (2016) and Julian Is A Mermaid (2018), written by Jessica Walton and Jessica Love. From the data analysis, it was found that these two picture books portray how gender performativity exists in society. Identification of social construction is also discussed in these two picture books. The persumption of the binary system is that women should align with her gender that is feminine, while men should be masculine. This process is called gender performativity of gender which was asserted by Judith Butler theory.  The result of this research reveals that the gender performativity and gender construction in the two picture books surrounded all aspects of human life. The society constructed color, appearance, traits, acts, gestures, roles, and stereotypes based on individuals’ gender category. It is also found that the characters from the two picture books were gender fluid with certain stages conforming to the performativity but also to the gender construction.

Structural failure in construction projects is a critical issue that not only endangers public safety but also triggers legal consequences for parties involved. This study explores mechanical structural failure from technical, legal, and professional responsibility perspectives. Technically, structural failures are often caused by inadequate planning, poor-quality materials, and improper construction practices. Legally, the Indonesian Construction Services Law (Law No. 2 of 2017) and the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP) provide a foundation for holding parties accountable, both civilly and criminally, especially when failures result in significant losses or casualties. The research also discusses the roles and responsibilities of construction consultants and contractors. Consultants are responsible for accurate design and oversight, while contractors must ensure implementation aligns with technical specifications and safety standards. Any negligence or deviation from duties by either party can lead to legal liability. This paper emphasizes the importance of integrating technical diligence with legal compliance to ensure the success and safety of construction projects.

This article analyzes the juridical construction, practical implementation, and problematics of corporate criminal liability in corruption cases in Indonesia. Employing a normative-juridical approach with analytical-evaluative dimensions, this research examines primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials, as well as data from in-depth interviews with key informants. The results indicate that despite the legal framework accommodating the concept of corporations as subjects of criminal law in corruption cases, its implementation faces significant obstacles reflected in the minimal designation of corporations as suspects/defendants. These obstacles encompass substantive aspects related to unclear formulation of liability elements, procedural aspects concerning limitations in procedural law, institutional aspects regarding law enforcement capacity, and practical aspects related to sanctions execution. This research proposes a comprehensive and integrative model for strengthening corporate criminal liability through normative reformulation, procedural and institutional strengthening, and development of corporate compliance incentives, projected to contribute to improving the effectiveness of corporate corruption enforcement and strengthening business integrity systems in Indonesia.

Coastal areas are transitional areas between land and marine ecosystems that are very vulnerable to natural disasters, one of which is abrasion. Coastal abrasion is the process of erosion of coastal areas caused by wave activity, ocean currents, and human activities such as infrastructure development and sand mining. Ciberi Beach (Tanjung Ciberi) located in Enggros Village, Abepura District, Jayapura City, is one of the coastal areas that experiences continuous abrasion. Its strategic location and direct facing the Pacific Ocean makes this area very vulnerable to coastal erosion. Based on the author's experience while conducting Field Work Practices at the Papua River Basin Center (BWS Papua), it is known that abrasion has caused damage to public facilities and significant coastline decline since 2019 (Cepos, 2024). Strong suspicions arose from the community based on the results of interviews conducted that the construction of the Youtefa Bridge contributed to the acceleration of abrasion. Previous research also showed that the rate of abrasion in the Yos Sudarso Bay area, including Ciberi Beach, reached 0.89 meters per year. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the level of damage to Ciberi Beach due to abrasion during the period 2014–2024, and to provide recommendations for handling to reduce the impact of damage in the coastal area.

Language plays a vital role in expressing emotions, facilitating communication, and conveying a speaker’s stance through modality. This study analyzes the use of modality in a political speech by Donald Trump regarding a new U.S.-China trade deal, delivered on May 12, 2025. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, the research investigates how modality reflects Trump's intentions, beliefs, and authority. Data were collected through indirect observation of a YouTube video titled “President Trump touts new US-China trade deal: We Opened Up China”, followed by transcription, identification, and categorization of modality types based on Palmer's (2013) framework: epistemic, deontic, and dynamic modality. The findings reveal that Trump uses epistemic modality to express speculation, deontic modality to convey obligation and prohibition, and dynamic modality to demonstrate capability and initiative. These elements function strategically to shape his image as a decisive and persuasive leader. The study supports previous findings that modality serves as a rhetorical device in political discourse, contributing to influence and narrative construction.

This study aims to analyze i‘rab in Arabic syntax from two main perspectives: classical nahwu theory and modern linguistic approaches, as well as to evaluate the application of i‘rab in the construction of Arabic sentences. I‘rab refers to the inflection of a word’s ending, which indicates its syntactic function in a sentence, playing a crucial role in determining the meaning and structure of the sentence in Arabic. In the context of classical nahwu theory, as found in works such as Al-Kitab by Sibawaih and Al-Mufassal by Al-Zamakhsyari, i‘rab functions as a grammatical marker that helps to understand the relationships between the elements of a sentence, such as the subject, object, and complement. In contrast, modern linguistic approaches view i‘rab as one component in a more complex sentence structure, focusing on overall syntactic and semantic analysis. The research methodology employed is qualitative-descriptive with a content analysis approach, where data is collected from library studies covering primary literature in the fields of classical nahwu and modern linguistics. This study analyzes and compares the application of classical nahwu theory with modern linguistic approaches to i‘rab and its impact on understanding sentence structure in Arabic. The results show that although classical nahwu theory and modern linguistic approaches differ in their application of i‘rab, they complement each other in providing a more comprehensive understanding of Arabic sentence syntax. A proper understanding of i‘rab is essential not only in teaching Arabic but also in translating and interpreting Arabic texts, both in academic and practical contexts. This study is expected to contribute to the development of Arabic language teaching and serve as a reference for Arabic scholars interested in syntactic studies and its applications in Arabic sentence analysis.

Clay soil stabilization is a crucial process to enhance the soil's bearing capacity and stability, making it more suitable for construction purposes. Stabilizing clay soils improves their mechanical properties, reduces swelling, and increases their load-bearing capacity, which is essential for the foundation of various structures. This study aims to investigate the effect of lime (CaO) addition and curing time on the physical properties of clay soil, particularly focusing on unconfined compressive strength (qu) and overall soil stability. The experimental methodology involved applying different percentages of lime content (ranging from 3% to 7%) and varying curing times (7, 14, and 28 days). The soil samples were tested for their unconfined compressive strength after each combination of lime content and curing duration. The results indicated that the addition of 5% lime (CaO) and curing for 14 days led to a significant improvement in the unconfined compressive strength by 153.3%, compared to the untreated clay soil. Furthermore, increasing the curing time beyond 14 days did not show substantial improvements in strength, suggesting that 14 days is the optimal curing period for this combination. The study also highlighted that the lime treatment not only enhanced the mechanical properties but also reduced the plasticity of the clay, making it more stable and easier to handle during construction. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the appropriate combination of lime content and curing time plays a significant role in improving the stability of clay soils. This research provides valuable insights into optimizing soil stabilization techniques, offering an effective solution for enhancing soil properties for engineering applications
