Hospitalization in preschool children often causes anxiety due to several factors, such as unfamiliar environments, uncomfortable medical procedures, and separation from parents. This condition can negatively affect the child’s psychological state, which may influence both the healing process and adaptation during hospital care. Therefore, it is important to understand the description of anxiety experienced by children during hospitalization so that health workers can provide appropriate interventions. This study aimed to describe the anxiety caused by hospitalization among preschool children admitted to the Parkit Ward of Qolbu Insan Mulia (QIM) Hospital Batang. The study employed a descriptive quantitative design with a purposive sampling technique. A total of 65 preschool children aged 3–6 years who met the inclusion criteria were recruited as samples. The instrument used was the Spence Children’s Anxiety Scale (SCAS) Preschool Parent Report, which was completed by parents to assess the children’s level of anxiety. Data analysis was carried out using frequency distribution to present both the respondents’ characteristics and the level of anxiety. The results showed that most respondents were 5 years old (36.9%) and predominantly male (61.5%). A majority of the respondents had never been hospitalized before (63.1%), making hospitalization a first-time experience that could trigger anxiety. The highest proportion of anxiety levels was in the mild category (38.4%), followed by moderate anxiety (30.7%). Only a small proportion of children experienced severe anxiety. In conclusion, preschool children undergoing hospitalization in the Parkit Ward of QIM Hospital Batang mostly experienced mild to moderate anxiety. These findings provide an important overview for nursing staff in designing interventions to reduce children’s anxiety. Suggested approaches include play therapy, effective communication, and active parental involvement in the care process. With such strategies, it is expected that children’s anxiety can be reduced, making hospitalization a more adaptive experience that supports the recovery process.

Patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) often experience physiological disturbances caused by both medical conditions and intensive treatment procedures. One of the most common problems encountered is sleep disturbance. Several factors contribute to poor sleep quality in ICU patients, including repeated medical procedures, environmental noise from medical equipment and staff activities, discomfort due to body positioning, frequent interactions with health workers, continuous exposure to lighting, pain, and the underlying disease process. Persistent sleep disturbances can delay the healing process, increase blood pressure, and even elevate the risk of stroke. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between anxiety levels and sleep quality in compos mentis patients in the ICU of Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital Semarang. The research design employed a correlational approach with a cross-sectional method. A total of 30 respondents were selected according to the inclusion criteria. Data were collected using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) to measure sleep quality and the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) to assess anxiety levels. The Chi-Square test was used for statistical analysis. The results showed an equal distribution of male and female respondents (15 each). Ten respondents had a post-laparotomy medical diagnosis, and the majority belonged to the late elderly age group (10 respondents). Most respondents experienced moderate anxiety (18 respondents), while poor sleep quality was reported by 17 respondents. The Chi-Square test revealed a p-value of 0.001, indicating a significant relationship between anxiety levels and sleep quality. In conclusion, higher anxiety levels were associated with poorer sleep quality among compos mentis patients in the ICU. These findings highlight the importance of nursing interventions that address both the physical and psychological aspects of patients to improve sleep quality and support recovery.

Coronary heart disease is one of the major health problems that not only affects the physical condition of patients but also impacts their psychological state, particularly anxiety. Anxiety levels in patients with coronary heart disease usually increase when they are about to undergo invasive medical procedures such as Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI). Anxiety can be influenced by several factors, including age, gender, educational level, and occupation. High levels of anxiety may worsen the patient’s clinical condition, making appropriate non-pharmacological interventions highly necessary to help reduce anxiety. This study aims to determine the effect of spiritual support in the form of dzikir on the anxiety levels of patients with coronary heart disease. The research design used was a true experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 30 respondents who were evenly divided into two groups: 15 respondents in the intervention group and 15 respondents in the control group. The sampling technique used was total sampling. The instrument for measuring anxiety was the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS). The results showed that providing spiritual support in the form of dzikir was effective in reducing patient anxiety, with a p-value of 0.001. In addition, there was a significant difference in post-therapy anxiety levels between the control and intervention groups, with a p-value of 0.019 (p < 0.05). These findings demonstrate that dzikir, as a form of spiritual support, can be used as a non-pharmacological intervention to reduce anxiety in patients with coronary heart disease. Thus, spiritual support can be an important component of nursing care for patients in the ICU.

Patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) frequently experience physiological disturbances that significantly affect their sleep quality. These disturbances are triggered by various factors, including repeated medical procedures, environmental noise, discomfort from medical devices, intensive interactions with healthcare workers, inappropriate lighting that disrupts circadian rhythms, pain, and the underlying disease process. Sleep disturbances in ICU patients may slow down the healing process, elevate blood pressure, trigger metabolic disorders, and increase the risk of serious complications such as stroke. This study aims to examine the relationship between anxiety levels and sleep quality among compos mentis patients in the ICU of Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital, Semarang. The research employed a correlational design with a cross-sectional method. A total of 30 respondents were included based on specific criteria. Anxiety levels were measured using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS), while sleep quality was assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test to determine the relationship between the two variables. The findings showed that the distribution of male and female respondents was balanced (15 respondents each). The most common medical diagnosis was post-laparotomy (10 respondents), with the dominant age category being late elderly (10 respondents). Anxiety levels were predominantly in the moderate category (18 respondents), while the majority of respondents demonstrated poor sleep quality (17 respondents). Statistical analysis revealed a p-value of 0.001, indicating a significant relationship between anxiety levels and sleep quality. In conclusion, the study highlights that higher levels of anxiety are associated with poorer sleep quality among compos mentis patients in the ICU. These findings emphasize the importance of nursing interventions aimed at reducing anxiety to improve patient sleep quality and support recovery.

Tonsillitis is an inflammation of the pharyngeal tonsils, commonly caused by viral infections, and typically resolves on its own without medical intervention. The first-line treatment for tonsillitis generally involves supportive care, such as analgesics and hydration, to alleviate symptoms. However, in cases of chronic or severe tonsillitis that cannot be managed conservatively, tonsillectomy is the recommended surgical procedure. Tonsillectomy is typically performed by an ENT specialist, and candidates for this surgery must meet the absolute and relative criteria outlined in the 2004 Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Indonesia clinical guidelines. Although tonsillectomy is a common procedure, one of the serious complications that can arise post-surgery is hemorrhage, which can lead to fatal consequences if not managed appropriately. Post-tonsillectomy bleeding is a significant cause of mortality and requires immediate and effective management. Effective management of post-tonsillectomy hemorrhage is crucial to prevent life-threatening situations that may develop without appropriate intervention. Bleeding can be addressed through close observation, bedside interventions, or additional surgery if necessary, with the initial focus on stabilizing the patient's hemodynamics and controlling active bleeding. Given the high incidence and severity of post-operative bleeding, it is vital for healthcare professionals to identify patients who experience this complication and those at high risk, providing timely and appropriate interventions to reduce the risk of fatality. Therefore, in-depth knowledge of post-tonsillectomy hemorrhage management is essential for ENT specialists in daily clinical practice.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease that primarily affects the musculoskeletal system and often causes severe pain and functional limitations, especially among the elderly. This study aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of nursing care for a patient diagnosed with RA through a family-based approach. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with a case study design conducted in a rural village in Brebes, Central Java. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that the integration of non-pharmacological interventions, including warm compresses using ginger and lemongrass, and deep breathing techniques, significantly reduced pain intensity. Additionally, increased family involvement in caregiving, facilitated by structured health education, enhanced the patient's quality of life. This study confirms the importance of applying Dorothea Orem’s Self-Care Deficit Theory to support the independence and well-being of RA patients within their home environments. The findings suggest that community nurses should prioritize family empowerment in chronic disease management, particularly in areas with limited health access.

Introduction: The increase in life expectancy among the elderly has directly contributed to the rise in the global elderly population. According to global data, the number of elderly individuals is projected to reach 1.4 billion by 2030. This demographic growth is often accompanied by various health problems associated with aging, such as the decline in vital organ function and the emergence of degenerative diseases. One of the most common degenerative diseases among the elderly is hypertension. Hypertension is widely known as a “silent killer” because it can lead to serious complications, including stroke and heart disease, if not managed properly. A common complaint experienced by individuals with hypertension is headache, particularly in the posterior region, which significantly affects the patient’s quality of life. Management of hypertension can be carried out through pharmacological therapy with antihypertensive drugs as well as non-pharmacological interventions. One of the non-pharmacological approaches increasingly being applied is isometric handgrip exercise, which involves static muscle contractions performed at light to moderate intensity. Method:This study aimed to evaluate the effect of isometric handgrip exercise on pain reduction in patients with hypertension. The research design employed a descriptive case study involving one individual with hypertension who experienced pain complaints. The study was conducted on September 16–18, 2024, at Roujin Home X. The instruments used included observation, interview, and the provision of isometric handgrip exercise therapy. Pain measurement was carried out using a numerical rating scale before and after the intervention. Results:The three-day intervention demonstrated a significant reduction in pain levels. On the first day, the patient reported a pain score of 6, which decreased to 4 on the second day, and further declined to 2 on the third day after the intervention. Conclusion:The findings of this study indicate that isometric handgrip exercise is an effective non-pharmacological method for alleviating acute pain in patients with hypertension. This simple intervention has the potential to be applied as a complementary therapy in elderly care facilities to improve the quality of life of individuals living with hypertension.

The waste problem in Tamanan village is an issue that needs serious attention because of its impact on environmental pollution and public health. One of the main challenges is the low awareness of residents, especially elementary school children, in terms of good and correct waste management. A lot of waste is thrown carelessly without sorting, which results in a decrease in the quality of cleanliness and health of the village environment. This community service program aims to improve students' understanding and skills in waste management through a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach for 40 days. This program involves students of MI Nurur Rahman and SDN Tamanan 1 as the main subjects. The activities carried out include socialization about the importance of waste management, the delivery of material on types of waste, as well as the practice of sorting organic, inorganic, and B3 waste. In addition, the installation of educational media in the school environment and evaluation monitoring were also carried out. The results of the evaluation showed that 73% of students were able to answer the quiz questions correctly ≥70%, which indicates their good understanding of waste management. Some students also began to implement the habit of separating waste at home and inviting families to participate. Support from village officials and the existence of educational media are expected to strengthen the sustainability of this program. Participatory approaches have proven to be effective in raising environmental awareness and can be implemented sustainably through collaboration between schools, communities, and village governments.

Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability, resulting in a decline in the quality of life of its sufferers. In addition to physical impairments, stroke patients often experience anxiety, which can hinder the recovery process and lower overall quality of life. This study aims to analyze the relationship between anxiety levels and the quality of life of stroke patients. The research design used a correlational descriptive approach with a cross-sectional method. The study population consisted of stroke patients receiving care or rehabilitation in healthcare facilities, with a total sampling technique for sampling. The research instruments included an anxiety questionnaire and a quality of life questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using Somers’ d statistical test. The results showed that most stroke patients experienced moderate anxiety and had low quality of life. The Somers’ d test indicated a significant relationship between anxiety and the quality of life of stroke patients (p < 0.05). These findings suggest that the higher the anxiety level, the lower the quality of life perceived by the patients. Personal hygiene during menstruation is a crucial aspect in maintaining the reproductive health of adolescent girls. Failure to adhere to personal hygiene practices during menstruation can potentially lead to various health problems, such as reproductive tract infections, pruritus vulvae, and vaginal discharge. Parents play a crucial role in shaping healthy behaviors in adolescent girls by providing education regarding the reproductive process and how to properly care for their genitals. Parents' roles in this context are considered effective if they actively provide reproductive health education, establish open communication, and model healthy behaviors. This education includes providing accurate information about reproductive organ function, techniques for cleaning genitalia during menstruation, and discussing health issues related to menstruation. This study aims to determine the relationship between parental role and menstrual personal hygiene practices among adolescent girls at SMP Negeri 1 Sambirejo, Sragen. The study used a quantitative method with a descriptive correlational design and a cross-sectional approach. The study sample consisted of 81 respondents, selected using a purposive sampling technique. The instruments used were questionnaires on parental roles and menstrual personal hygiene practices. The results showed that 53 respondents (65.4%) had parents with good roles, and 62 respondents (76.5%) had good menstrual personal hygiene practices. Data analysis using the Spearman Rank test resulted in a p value = 0.000 (p < 0.05), which indicates that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. Thus, there is a significant relationship between parental roles and menstrual personal hygiene practices in adolescent girls at SMP Negeri 1 Sambirejo. This finding underscores the importance of parents' role in supporting proper menstrual hygiene practices through providing accurate information, open communication, and examples of healthy behavior, thus contributing to the prevention of reproductive health disorders among adolescents.

Hypertension is one of the major health problems often experienced by the elderly, with complaints of headaches predominantly in the nape and forehead area. This complaint, if not optimally managed, can reduce the quality of life of the elderly and risk worsening overall health conditions. Non-pharmacological interventions such as warm compresses are one of the nursing interventions that are safe, effective, easy to implement, have minimal side effects and can be done independently at home. Objective: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of providing warm compresses in reducing the intensity of headaches in elderly with hypertension. Method: The method used is a descriptive case study with a nursing process approach that includes assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and comprehensive evaluation. Subjects: The subjects in this study were two elderly people aged 60–75 years with hypertension and a pain scale between 3–7 who were given warm compresses for six consecutive days at the same time each day. Results: The results of the study showed that after the intervention, there was a significant decrease in the pain scale. In the first subject, the pain scale decreased from 7 to 3, while in the second subject, it decreased from 6 to 3. Both subjects also reported a sense of comfort, body relaxation, and improved sleep quality after warm compress therapy. Recommendation: Based on these findings, warm compress is recommended as a non-pharmacological nursing action that can be used independently or in primary health care to help reduce headaches in elderly people with hypertension effectively and sustainably.
