This study examines the relationship between business environment dynamics and the sustainability of microenterprises in the culinary sector, focusing on a case study of dim sum businesses in Medan City. The business environment is conceptualized as a set of external factors, including competitive intensity, local economic conditions, regulations, shifts in consumer preferences, and the strategic role of business location. A qualitative approach was employed using a case study method, with data collected through semi-structured interviews and participant observation of operational activities. The findings indicate that high levels of competition, particularly from new entrants offering lower prices, directly influence the survival strategies of business owners. Adaptive adjustments were implemented through menu innovation, product quality maintenance, and strengthening relationships with loyal customers. Furthermore, the presence of educational institutions and socio-economic activities around business locations supports demand stability, especially from student segments. Strategic physical location enhances both visibility and accessibility but simultaneously intensifies competition. Conceptually, this study highlights that the sustainability of small-scale culinary enterprises is determined not only by internal management capacity but also by the ability to interpret, anticipate, and respond to external dynamics. Consequently, continuous adaptive strategies, product differentiation, and consumer network strengthening are essential prerequisites for culinary micro and small enterprises to maintain competitiveness in a highly competitive market.

This study explores the concept and practical implementation of halal production in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through the lens of Islamic economics. Employing a qualitative literature review approach, it synthesizes findings from previous studies on Islamic production theory, halal assurance systems, and the economic role of MSMEs in Indonesia. The analysis reveals that halal production encompasses not only compliance with Islamic jurisprudence but also ethical, environmental, and social dimensions, emphasizing justice, transparency, and sustainability in business operations. For MSMEs, adopting halal production practices can strengthen consumer confidence, improve competitiveness in both domestic and global markets, and contribute to national economic resilience. Nonetheless, challenges persist, including a limited understanding of halal standards among entrepreneurs, high certification costs, and inadequate access to institutional and governmental support. Addressing these issues requires an integrated strategy involving collaboration among policymakers, halal certification authorities, and MSME actors. This study concludes that empowering MSMEs through education, digital innovation, and regulatory reinforcement is vital to achieving a sustainable and inclusive halal economy aligned with the principles of Islamic ethics.

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a vital role in the economy by creating jobs, reducing poverty, and contributing to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). However, many MSMEs still struggle to market their products effectively. Limited capital, workforce, and access to promotional media lead them to rely on conventional methods such as print advertising, with minimal use of digital platforms. These limitations hinder their ability to reach wider markets and compete effectively at both local and national levels. Furthermore, differences in approach between MSMEs and large companies influence their marketing strategies. MSMEs often prioritize social networks and personal relationships over structured and systematic marketing plans. As a result, traditional methods are insufficient to face increasing competition and shifts in consumer behavior. Therefore, research was conducted on more innovative, creative, and adaptive marketing strategies for Ubay Singkong Keju MSMEs so that they could survive and thrive amid the ever-changing market dynamics.

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a very important and strategic role in supporting the overall economic structure, with a contribution of 61.97% to the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). However, MSMEs, especially in rural areas, still face fundamental challenges, such as a lack of understanding and implementation of modern marketing and digital technologies. This service focuses on strategic efforts to empower Rengginang Ibu Saliem MSMEs in Dolok Kahean Village through a digital transformation program. The method used is descriptive qualitative Action Research, designed for direct program implementation and evaluation. The results of the pre-intervention showed that there was a severe digital gap in Rengginang products, although they had a tested taste, but still relied on traditional marketing models. Strategic intervention is carried out through two main pillars, namely, branding optimization by creating the trademark "Rengginang Huta" and a professional logo. Then the implementation of digital marketing through the construction of a virtual storefront on @rengginanghuta_ibusaliem's Instagram account. This program has succeeded in transforming these MSMEs into entities that are ready to compete in the digital ecosystem, in line with the statement that digitalization is the main imperative for MSMEs to survive. However, the evaluation stage identifies the issue of sustainability and digital independence as the next challenge. Long-term success requires more intensive post-program mentoring, focusing on digital operational management, to ensure independence and achieve real impact on improvement in Dolok Kahean Village.

This community service initiative was designed to empower housewives in Dusun III, Desa Pematang Sijonam, by introducing ecoprint as a sustainable craft and a potential driver of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The activity was motivated by the limited access to alternative livelihoods in rural communities and the increasing relevance of environmentally conscious products in contemporary markets. The program adopted a descriptive qualitative design, emphasizing participatory involvement through workshops and direct practice. Participants were guided to identify tannin-rich leaves from their local environment, arrange them on pre-mordanted cotton tote bags, and apply steaming processes to transfer pigments. The outcomes revealed that participants not only acquired technical competence but also demonstrated heightened creativity and confidence, producing distinctive motifs that carried cultural and ecological values. More importantly, the training raised awareness of the economic potential of natural resources that had previously been overlooked. This activity suggests that ecoprint is not merely an artistic expression but also a practical strategy for fostering women’s economic independence, stimulating rural entrepreneurship, and strengthening sustainable development at the community level

Inventory management is a crucial aspect in improving operational efficiency, particularly for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) such as grocery stores. This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing the First In First Out (FIFO) method on operational efficiency at Reni Grocery Store. Prior to applying FIFO, the inventory system in the store was poorly organized, often resulting in losses due to expired or damaged goods. Since March 2025, FIFO has been implemented by placing older items at the front of the shelves, while new items are consistently placed at the back, accompanied by routine checks of expiration dates. This research employs a qualitative approach using in-depth interviews with the store owner as the main subject. The findings indicate that FIFO positively influences operational efficiency, as reflected by reduced expired goods, improved stock recording, and more organized product flow. These results are consistent with previous studies, such as Pratama & Sari (2020), which showed FIFO reduced losses by up to 25%, as well as Suharto et al. (2021) and Rahman (2022), who emphasized that FIFO enhances stock accuracy and distribution efficiency. Nevertheless, this study also reveals limitations, including limited storage space and a lack of manpower for routine checks, which prevent FIFO implementation from being fully optimal.
