Linguistically, zakat means “clean,” “pure,” “fertile,” and “blessed,” while in Islamic terminology, zakat refers to a specific portion of wealth that must be given to those who are entitled to receive it according to Islamic law. Zakat serves both social and spiritual purposes, namely purifying wealth and the soul, as well as reducing social inequality within society. There are various types of zakat, such as zakat al-fitr and zakat on wealth (zakat al-mal). Ibn Khaldun is recognized as a prominent Muslim thinker who made significant contributions to the fields of economics, sociology, and politics. In his seminal work Muqaddimah, he introduced economic ideas that were far ahead of his time, including the concepts of national wealth, wage theory, market mechanisms, and the role of the state in fiscal policy. This study aims to examine the core economic thoughts of Ibn Khaldun and their relevance to current economic dynamics. Using a qualitative descriptive approach based on literature review, the study finds that many of Khaldun's ideas remain highly relevant, particularly regarding the importance of productivity, fiscal justice, and the integration of social and economic aspects in building a sustainable system. Most people know that Ibn Khaldun is one of the most famous Muslim thinkers, and he did a lot in the fields of politics, economics, and sociology.  In his monumental work, Muqaddimah discusses various long-established economic concepts, such as the market mechanism, wage theory, national wealth, and the role of the state in fiscal policy.  The purpose of this research is to study Ibn Khaldun's ideas on economics and evaluate how these impact contemporary economic developments.  The study found that many of Khaldun's ideas are still relevant today thanks to the use of descriptive qualitative methodology based on literature study. A sustainable and inclusive economic system relies on the idea of productivity as the source of economic growth, fiscal justice in the taxation system, and integration between social and economic aspects.  The results show that classical economic thought not only has historical value, but also offers solutions to many modern economic problems such as inequality, productivity stagnation, and institutional crisis.

This study examines the social and cultural values in the drama script Gerbong by Agam Wispi through a literary anthropology approach. The research is grounded in the role of literature as a reflection of socio-cultural values, with Gerbong selected for its rich portrayal of post-revolution Indonesian societal dynamics, which has yet to be holistically analyzed from an anthropological perspective. The aim is to identify the manifestations of socio-cultural values through dramatic structures such as dialogue, characterization, and conflict. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, analyzing narrative and symbolic elements within the script. Findings reveal that social values are reflected in non-familial solidarity, critiques of revolutionary injustice, humanism amid adversity, and women’s resistance to stigmatization. Cultural values emerge through the gerbong (train carriage) as a metaphor for resilience, collective sacrifice, and a belief in independence preserved through oral traditions. Intergenerational conflicts between colonial and post-independence values highlight cultural dynamics in postcolonial transition. The study recommends integrating the script into educational curricula, exploring its performative dimensions, and conducting further interdisciplinary research on power relations and gender representation.

The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through interviews and documentation. The data analysis techniques applied include data reduction, data presentation, and data verification according to Miles and Huberman. This study focuses on two main problem formulations, namely the influence of ethnic relations on political issues and the influence of ethnic relations on political orientation. The results of the study indicate that ethnic identity plays an important role in determining individual political preferences. The research findings also reveal that political issues that are relevant to the local community are influenced by the social and cultural context of each tribe. political programs that emphasize local economic development and preservation of tribal culture tend to get greater support. This suggests that understanding the socio-cultural context of ethnic groups is key to formulating effective and inclusive political policies. This study provides new insights into the dynamics of politics in a multi-ethnic society and emphasizes the importance of inclusive policies that take into account ethnic diversity to promote social harmony and political stability in Simpang Selayang Village.

This study explores the role of the Catholic Church in fostering dialogue with migrants and refugees in the Diocese of Maumere, Indonesia, while also examining its pastoral and theological responses to the complex challenges posed by modern migration. As migration becomes a pressing global issue, the Church is called to be a beacon of compassion, justice, and inclusion for those displaced from their homelands. Employing a qualitative research method, this study utilizes both fieldwork and literature review, with data gathered through in-depth interviews with clergy and community members, as well as analysis of ecclesiastical documents and pastoral guidelines. The findings reveal that the Church implements three primary forms of dialogue: the dialogue of presence, which emphasizes being physically and emotionally present with migrants; the dialogue of life, which promotes shared daily experiences and mutual respect; and the dialogue of liberation, which focuses on advocating for the rights and dignity of refugees. Despite these efforts, the Church faces several challenges, including limited financial and human resources, bureaucratic inefficiencies, and cultural resistance from segments of the local population. To address these obstacles, the study recommends that the Church strengthen collaboration with government agencies and civil society organizations, enhance education and empowerment initiatives for refugees, and promote community awareness on the values of solidarity and acceptance. By adopting a comprehensive and sustainable approach, the Church can reinforce its mission to serve the marginalized and uphold the inherent dignity of every human being, especially those most vulnerable due to forced migration and displacement.

The activity "Sharing Concern Through Donation of Suitable Clothing for the Poor in Tropodo Village, Waru, Sidoarjo" aims to help underprivileged communities in meeting their clothing needs. The background of this activity is the low economic conditions of the local community, so they prioritize food needs over clothing. Through this activity, beneficiary communities can obtain more suitable clothing, increase their self-confidence, and reduce the negative impact of limited clothing on their welfare. The results of this activity show that donation of suitable clothing not only has an impact on the welfare of the recipients, but also increases social awareness in more affluent community groups. In addition, this activity strengthens relationships between residents and strengthens the values of mutual cooperation in the community. Challenges in this activity include low community participation, logistical constraints, and varying quality of donations, which can be overcome with better education and coordination. With this activity, it is hoped that similar initiatives will emerge more widely, so that more people are encouraged to share and support each other.

This study aims to examine the use of formal and informal language in communication in the Islamic Student Association (HMI) FIS Unimed, as well as the factors that influence and its impact. With a descriptive qualitative approach, data were obtained through in-depth interviews with active members. The findings of the study indicate that formal language is chosen in meetings and official events to create a professional atmosphere, while informal language is more often used in daily interactions to strengthen relationships between members. The choice of language type is influenced by the context of the situation, relationships between individuals, and communication goals. However, there are challenges for some members who have difficulty distinguishing when to use formal language in official events and when to use informal language in casual situations. The use of balanced formal and informal language is very important to achieve effective communication and strengthen solidarity among members. Therefore, it is recommended that there be further socialization and mentoring so that members can better understand and apply the communication norms that apply in the organization.     Keywords:
