This research analyzes the strategies and collaboration between guidance and counseling teachers and homeroom teachers in addressing problematic students at SMP Negeri 4 Medan. The background of this study highlights the importance of guidance and counseling services in supporting students’ personal and social development, especially during the critical transition period in junior high school. However, the implementation of these services often encounters obstacles such as negative perceptions, lack of formal guidelines, and professional challenges. Using a qualitative descriptive method through interviews, observations, and documentation, the research reveals that effective strategies include building positive relationships, early detection, preventive and curative interventions, and open communication with parents. The synergy between guidance and counseling teachers and homeroom teachers, through regular information exchange and coordinated intervention planning, significantly improves the management of problematic students. Nevertheless, challenges such as limited time, differences in role perceptions, and lack of structured communication forums still hinder optimal collaboration. The study concludes that comprehensive and coordinated collaboration is essential for effective management of student problems in schools.

Hypercholesterolemia is one of the health problems that is often experienced by the elderly and has a major impact on their quality of life, especially because it increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases such as coronary heart disease, stroke, and peripheral vascular disorders. This condition often does not show symptoms, but the process of atherosclerosis can develop slowly and cause serious complications if not treated early. The Community Service Program (PKM) implemented at Panti Werdha Hana aims to increase awareness among the elderly of the importance of early detection of Cholesterol and High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) levels as part of efforts to prevent heart disease. This activity applies the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) approach, including total cholesterol and HDL examinations using the Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) method, as well as interactive education about risk factors and healthy lifestyles. The results of the activity showed that out of 76 participants, 38 people (50%) had total cholesterol levels above normal, while 22 people (28.95%) had low or very low HDL levels. Early detection through screening has proven effective in identifying cardiovascular risks earlier and providing a basis for timely medical and educational interventions. Through this activity, it is hoped that the elderly can understand their health conditions better and take preventive steps to maintain lipid levels within normal limits, to improve the quality of life and reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications in the future.

This research aims to analyze the factors causing delays to passenger trains on the Makassar-Pare-Pare route and to provide recommendations to improve travel timeliness. This research uses a qualitative approach with interview methods and literature study to obtain more in-depth data regarding the factors that influence delays. Based on research results, train delays are caused by several factors, including inadequate infrastructure, irregular track maintenance, extreme weather, as well as technical and operational problems. The results of interviews with officers and passengers revealed that a lack of coordination between field officers and the control center was also one of the main causes. This research suggests the need for improvements in planning departure schedules, increasing coordination between related parties, improving rail infrastructure, and managing passenger density. It is hoped that with these recommendations, train delays can be minimized, provide better comfort for passengers, and improve the quality of train services on the Makassar-Pare-Pare route.

Early science education has a strategic role in forming critical and innovative thinking patterns in children as a provision to face challenges in the era of globalization and technological advancement. However, the implementation of the scientific approach at the early childhood education (PAUD) and elementary school levels still faces various obstacles, such as limited teacher knowledge, lack of contextual learning facilities, and teaching methods that tend to be one-way. In fact, childhood is a phase of cognitive development that is very potential to foster curiosity and scientific thinking skills. The low science literacy scores of Indonesian students in international studies indicate the need for intervention from an early age. Therefore, community service programs that aim to build a foundation for children's science from an early age are very important. This program includes teacher training, development of learning media, and exploratory activities based on simple experiments that are appropriate to the world of children. Through this approach, it is hoped that a young generation can be created who not only understand science conceptually, but also have the ability to think critically, creatively, and find solutions in facing problems in the future.

This community service activity aims to increase the financial independence of the Women Farmers Group (KWT) in Sudiang, Makassar, through a networking approach and strengthening financial literacy capacity. The main problems faced by the local KWT are the still low understanding of group financial management, limited access to financial information, and dependence on external assistance. Through socialization, training, and interactive discussions, participants were provided with an understanding of the basic concepts of financial independence, simple financial record keeping, collective fund management, and the importance of institutional networks as a sustainability strategy. The results of the activity showed an increase in members' understanding of the importance of financial literacy and the ability to design an internal financial system independently. In addition, strengthening networks with local stakeholders was also started as a first step towards finding a KWT business. The activity concluded with a question and answer session and the presentation of certificates to participants as a form of appreciation and ongoing motivation. Going forward, further mentoring is needed so that the empowerment process can continue to develop consistently. As a follow-up to this activity, a sustainable mentoring strategy is needed so that the understanding and skills that have been acquired do not just stop at the level of knowledge, but can be implemented in real life in the KWT's daily activities. This mentoring can include monitoring the group's financial records, facilitating access to microfinance institutions, and training in building partnerships with external parties such as government, academics, and the private sector. With structured mentoring, KWT is expected to be able to build a transparent and accountable financial management system and support the growth of sustainable, productive businesses. This aligns with efforts to strengthen women's independence in the agricultural sector while contributing to the welfare of families and the wider community.

This activity aims to raise awareness and understanding among PKK mothers in Padang Cermin Village, Langkat Regency, regarding the importance of mental health. Mental health issues are often overlooked, especially in rural areas where access to information and support services is limited, and where social stigma against mental disorders persists. Lack of knowledge about the early signs of mental health disorders can cause preventable problems to develop into more serious conditions. Through this outreach activity, participants were introduced to the basic concepts of mental health, the factors that influence it, the early signs of mental disorders such as prolonged stress, anxiety, and depression, and simple steps that can be taken to maintain mental health within the family environment. Methods used included interactive material delivery, educational videos, group discussions, and question-and-answer sessions, allowing participants to understand the material more deeply and relate it to their personal experiences. Additionally, practical tips were provided, such as breathing relaxation techniques, establishing positive communication within the family, time management, and the importance of social support among community members. This approach is expected to empower mothers, as central figures in the family, to recognize, prevent, and address mental health issues early on. The results of the activity showed a very positive response. Participants demonstrated high enthusiasm, openness in sharing experiences, and a greater awareness of the importance of maintaining mental health. Many participants acknowledged that they previously lacked understanding of the importance of mental health care and tended to ignore early symptoms. This activity demonstrated the strategic role of community-based mental health education in preventative efforts to create healthier, more harmonious, and more resilient families. Going forward, follow-up efforts in the form of regular mentoring programs, dissemination of advanced educational materials, and collaboration with relevant parties are needed to ensure continued understanding and support for mental health issues in rural communities.

Clean living behavior can be done by maintaining the sustainability of life can be done by reducing waste, saving energy, planting trees, and not littering. Waste sorting can be done by separating organic and inorganic waste into different trash bins. In addition, inorganic waste can also be separated again based on its type, such as plastic, paper, glass, and metal. Facilitates the process of collecting and processing waste for recycling. The Principles of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) recommend the use of waste sorting methods. The daily habits that we do to maintain personal and environmental cleanliness consist of this behavior. . Along with the emergence of various diseases that often attack children aged 6-12 years, PHBS in schools is a collection of behaviors carried out by students, teachers, and school residents based on learning so that they are able to independently prevent disease, improve their health. Implementation of better waste sorting practices can reduce the negative impact of waste on the environment, increase the efficiency of waste management, and provide long-term benefits for school residents. Schools are one of the places that have great potential to educate students about good waste management. SD Negeri 2 Kelusa has problems related to the lack of student knowledge about waste sorting and utilization, especially organic waste. Most students at SD Negeri 2 Kelusa still have limited understanding of the types of waste and how to process it. Most students do not realize and understand that organic waste can be reused, so they tend to throw it away with other waste.

Jamalsari Village has rich local potentials, including natural tourism, agriculture, and traditional culture. Unfortunately, these potentials have not been optimally managed, and as a result, they have not significantly contributed to the community’s welfare. In response to this issue, a community service program was conducted with the goal of empowering the residents in developing tourism and creative economies based on local potentials. The approach used was participatory, where the community was actively involved in every stage of the activity, from identifying potentials and problems to training, mentoring, and evaluating the outcomes. Key activities in this program included training local tour guides to enhance residents' capacity in welcoming tourists, homestay management training as a form of community-based accommodation, and training on processing local products such as cassava chips and opak (crispy rice cakes). In addition, the community was encouraged to utilize social media as a promotional tool for products and tourist destinations. The results of these activities showed an increase in the community’s capacity and awareness in managing the village’s potential. The establishment of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) became one of the success indicators, where this group actively managed tourism activities independently. Furthermore, several prototypes of creative economy products have been successfully produced and widely recognized through digital promotion. This program successfully encouraged active participation from the community in promoting and managing the village as a local wisdom-based tourist destination. The success of this initiative shows that community empowerment oriented towards local potential can be an effective and sustainable approach, with the potential to serve as a replicable model for other villages with similar characteristics. Additionally, with this program, the community began to have a better understanding of the importance of environmental sustainability and cultural preservation in tourism development. This program also opened new opportunities for improving the residents’ economy, creating jobs, and reducing dependence on less sustainable economic sectors.

Education is the main pillar in nation building, where teachers play a central role in determining the success of the learning process. However, in the modern era, challenges related to teachers' competence and creativity in managing the classroom and creating a conducive learning climate are still problems that need to be overcome. This study aims to analyze the role, function, and competence of teachers in achieving national education goals through a qualitative approach with the literature review method. Data was collected from accredited journal articles indexed in SINTA, with a publication range of 2020-2024, using the Publish or Perish (POP) tool. The results show that professional teachers need to master the material, teaching methods, and understand the needs of students to create an effective learning environment. In addition, teachers' creativity and innovation in managing the classroom and the integration of technology in learning are key factors in improving the quality of education. However, there is still a gap between theory and practice, especially in the application of character-based learning approaches, Islamic values, and inclusive classroom management. This study recommends the need for teacher training and competency development, especially in the use of technology and varied learning approaches, to create a more conducive and inclusive learning climate.

Stunting is one of the nutritional problems that still occurs in Indonesia. Stunting treatment does not only refer to medical and nutritional aspects, but is also influenced by social and cultural factors, including the social stigma inherent in families with stunted children. This study aims to examine the forms of social stigma against stunting and its impact on prevention and handling efforts in Santur Village. A descriptive qualitative approach was used in this study with an in-depth interview method with parents, posyandu cadres, local health workers, and village officials. The results of the study show that stigma in the form of negative labeling and feelings of shame often hinder parents from accessing health services and being open to information related to child nutrition. This information shows the importance of a community-based approach that not only focuses on the medical aspect, but also targets changes in people's social views on stunting. By overcoming social stigma, it is hoped that efforts to prevent and handle stunting can run more effectively and comprehensively.
