This study investigates the influence of transformational leadership on teacher performance in disadvantaged regions, with a specific focus on SMP Satu Atap Werdi in Pekalongan Regency. Schools located in remote and underdeveloped areas often face structural challenges such as limited resources, inadequate infrastructure, and geographical isolation, which significantly hinder the delivery of quality education. In this context, the role of school principals becomes critical in shaping organizational culture and motivating educators to maintain high performance despite the constraints. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach, using participant observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis to gather rich and comprehensive data from the principal and teachers as key informants. Findings indicate that even though SMP Satu Atap Werdi operates in an area with severely limited facilities, the transformational leadership style adopted by the principal has successfully brought about meaningful improvements in school management and teacher performance. The leadership was manifested through four main dimensions: idealized influence, demonstrated by strong role modelling and exemplary behaviour; inspirational motivation, reflected in the principal’s ability to encourage teachers to remain committed and enthusiastic; intellectual stimulation, which fostered creativity, innovation, and problem-solving among teachers; and individualized consideration, shown through personal guidance and support tailored to each teacher’s needs. These practices led to visible progress in teacher discipline, professional dedication, and organizational commitment. The study underscores the importance of transformational leadership as a catalyst for positive organizational change in education, particularly under challenging circumstances. The findings align with previous literature highlighting its effectiveness in motivating subordinates and enhancing performance. From a practical standpoint, this research suggests the need for policymakers and education stakeholders to strengthen transformational leadership practices in schools across disadvantaged regions as a strategy to achieve equitable educational quality in Indonesia.

This study investigates the influence of organizational culture and school leadership on teacher performance through work motivation as an intervening variable at SMA N 2 Pasaman Barat. The research employed a quantitative approach, with the entire population consisting of 46 teachers serving as respondents. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the Partial Least Squares (PLS) method, including assessments of both the outer and inner models, as well as hypothesis testing. Data processing was conducted with the SmartPLS 3 software package to ensure accuracy and reliability in statistical analysis. The findings reveal that organizational culture has a significant positive effect on work motivation, indicating that a supportive and constructive organizational environment fosters higher levels of teacher motivation. Similarly, school leadership demonstrates a substantial impact on work motivation, emphasizing the importance of principals in inspiring and guiding teachers to remain engaged in their professional roles. Furthermore, the analysis shows that organizational culture significantly affects teacher performance, suggesting that strong cultural values and shared norms within the school enhance overall effectiveness in teaching. In contrast, the results indicate that school leadership does not have a direct significant effect on teacher performance, highlighting that leadership influence may be indirect, primarily channeled through motivational factors. Additionally, work motivation itself is found not to exert a substantial effect on teacher performance, suggesting that motivation alone may be insufficient without being supported by other organizational and contextual factors. When tested as an intervening variable, work motivation does not significantly mediate the relationship between organizational culture and teacher performance, nor between school leadership and teacher performance. Overall, the study contributes to the understanding of how organizational culture and leadership interact with teacher motivation and performance, with implications for educational management strategies aimed at enhancing teacher outcomes in secondary schools.

This study aims to analyze the effective role of the Al-Qurtuby Islamic Boarding School in shaping the character of students. As one of the oldest Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia, the Islamic boarding school holds a very strategic position in developing the morals and ethics of the younger generation, especially amidst the increasing moral crisis that is occurring in the modern era. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation so as to be able to describe the reality of the character formation of students in depth. The results show that the Al-Qurtuby Islamic Boarding School has three main functions: as a transmission of Islamic knowledge, a preserver of Islamic traditions, and a center for the development of prospective ulama (Islamic scholars). These three functions contribute significantly to fostering a character of peace, tolerance, independence, and a sense of responsibility in students. The character formation process is carried out through various methods, including the exemplary behavior of kyai (Islamic clerics) and ustaz (Islamic teachers), habituation in daily activities, and the provision of educational advice and sanctions. Supporting factors for the formation of students' character at this boarding school include the students' high internal motivation to learn, maintained discipline, and a conducive Islamic boarding school environment full of religious values. However, this study also identified inhibiting factors, such as student boredom due to busy schedules, limited facilities, and the challenge of adapting to changing times that demand innovation in teaching methods. The implications of this research are that it provides information for Islamic boarding school administrators in designing more effective strategies for developing character education, while also serving as a reference for other Islamic educational institutions wishing to adopt a similar approach. Thus, Islamic boarding schools remain relevant in producing a generation with noble character capable of facing future social and moral challenges.

This study investigates KIDI IoT, an educational service by PT Telkom Indonesia designed to bridge the skills gap between Vocational High School (SMK) graduates and the demands of the Industry 4.0 workforce. The primary objective was to assess the extent to which the KIDI IoT service fulfilled the requirements of educators and learners to substantiate its value proposition. A qualitative, exploratory methodology was employed utilizing in-depth interviews and the Value Proposition Canvas (VPC) framework for analysis. The outcomes demonstrate how effectively the program's project-based, experiential approach increases user motivation and offers a practical, industry-relevant learning environment. The service successfully generates the desired customer benefits. A major customer pain point that the current model ignores is that participants often expressed that the two-day offline training period was insufficient to help them master the material or build their confidence for working independently. This led to a significant misalignment. The KIDI IoT value proposition is fundamentally strong and well-regarded; however, the study concludes that its implementation necessitates improvement, particularly through the provision of more specialized teacher training and an extended training duration, to ensure sustained impact and skill acquisition.

The low level of reading literacy in remote areas, such as the Muna Barat Daya Regency, poses a significant challenge in basic education. One innovation proposed to address this issue is the implementation of Scramble Fun Learning, an educational game-based approach designed to enhance reading literacy skills in students at SD Negeri 1Weet. This community service activity was carried out in two stages: a theoretical stage, which provided foundational understanding about the importance of literacy and gamification approaches, and a practical stage involving both teachers and fifth-grade students in word arrangement activities. Scramble Fun Learning combines game elements with a gamification approach by having students arrange words from random letters. The main objective is to train vocabulary recognition, strengthen reading comprehension, and increase student motivation to learn. In this activity, students are challenged to form words or sentences within a limited time, which not only stimulates their creativity but also makes the learning process more enjoyable and engaging. This method enables students to learn while playing, which is particularly effective in overcoming the boredom that often occurs in conventional learning. The results of this activity showed a significant improvement in student enthusiasm, active participation, and literacy skills. Many students who were previously disinterested in reading activities became more enthusiastic and motivated. Despite limitations in resources and time, the activity was still effectively implemented, thanks to creative adjustments made by the implementing team to ensure the material and activities were well received by both students and teachers. Overall, these findings indicate that Scramble Fun Learning is a highly potential and applicable approach to improving students' reading literacy, especially in areas with limited educational resources. This approach not only enhances literacy skills but also builds students' interest and motivation to continue learning.

This study examines in depth how English learning motivation plays a role in influencing the level of engagement of physiotherapy students with English-language educational materials. The theoretical basis of this study refers to Self-Determination Theory, which emphasizes intrinsic and extrinsic motivational aspects, and Gardner's socio-educational model, which highlights the difference between integrative and instrumental motivation in second language learning. This study involved 44 students of STIKES Bethesda Yakkum Yogyakarta who had taken at least one semester of English for Specific Purposes (ESP). The research design used a quantitative correlational approach, with data collection through a standardized questionnaire that measured integrative motivation, instrumental motivation, and the level of student engagement with English-language academic learning resources. The results showed that integrative motivation had a significant positive correlation with student engagement (r = 0.56, p < 0.01), while instrumental motivation also showed a significant positive correlation (r = 0.62, p < 0.01). Multiple regression analysis indicated that both were significant predictors of engagement, with instrumental motivation being slightly more dominant in explaining variance in engagement (β = 0.40, p < 0.001). This suggests that physiotherapy students are more motivated to use English-language academic materials when motivated by practical needs such as professional career preparation and global communication. This finding confirms that motivation is a key factor that can drive student engagement with English-language academic content. Practical implications of this study include the need for contextualized ESP learning strategies, career-relevant curriculum design, and institutional policies that support increased student exposure to international academic materials to strengthen global competency.
