The Asahan River in North Sumatra holds significant potential as an ecotourism destination for whitewater rafting, featuring Class IV-V+ rapids that attract both domestic and international tourists. This study aims to analyze the potential and development strategies for ecotourism in the Asahan River using the Ecotourism Opportunity Spectrum (ECOS) approach with the addition of a socio-economic sustainability variable. This approach evaluates seven key components: accessibility, attractions, infrastructure, social interaction, skill and knowledge levels, related resources, and visitor impact. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation, and analyzed using a descriptive qualitative method. The results indicate that the Asahan River is classified as an Eco Specialist, with high natural appeal but requiring improvements in accessibility and community participation. Socio-economic sustainability assessments reveal that economic benefits are not evenly distributed, and local community involvement in tourism management remains low. Proposed strategies include improving infrastructure, training local communities, digital promotion, and strengthening stakeholder collaboration to establish a sustainable tourism destination.

This article examines the management of marine tourism in Lanjukang Island, a tourist destination located in the Spermonde Islands, Makassar City, South Sulawesi, with a focus on the role of maritime diplomacy in increasing tourism potential while preserving marine resources. This research uses a qualitative approach with literature study methods and interviews with relevant parties, such as local governments and local communities. Nevertheless, Lanjukang Island remains an attractive tourist destination for domestic and foreign tourists. The Makassar City Government plays an active role in promoting marine tourism through international collaboration, one of which is through the Makassar International Eight Festival and Forum (F8) event. Maritime diplomacy, which emphasizes international cooperation in marine resource management and tourism, plays a key role in facilitating sustainable tourism development on Lanjukang Island. The research found that while there is great potential in the marine tourism sector, more integrated and sustainable management is needed to support the local economy and the preservation of the marine environment. Collaboration between government, community and international partners is essential to achieve a balance between tourism development and nature conservation.

The development of tourist villages in Indonesia is increasing with government support and a shift in tourist interest towards educational and sustainable tourism. Sidomulyo Tourism Village, one of the tourist destinations in Jember Regency, has shown the potential for developing community-based tourism (CBT). However, the management of this village is still under the auspices of the village government, which could lead to continued dependency in the future. Community involvement is still limited because the village government decides the entire planning and management process. Through educational training, this community service program aims to strengthen CBT practices in the Sidomulyo Tourism Village. The process of transferring knowledge and experience is carried out by a manager of one of the independent tourist villages in Indonesia. This activity includes training and evaluation sessions. The results show increased participants' understanding of CBT and independent management of tourist villages. This program recommends developing priority attractions and improving digital marketing as initial steps to support sustainable tourism in the village.

In addition, there is also the potential for tourism that can be developed. Based on the OVOP criteria and SWOT analysis, the potential of the village that can be developed as a flagship product is in the cultivation of acacia honey. The availability of land and bee feed in acacia and palm plantations, as well as opportunities in national and international markets, means that acacia honey cultivation also provides a chance for communities to engage in sustainable businesses while enhancing public awareness of forest and environmental conservation. The cultivation of acacia honey also serves as a preventive solution to the cases of forest and peatland fires that frequently occur in Mak Teduh Village.

This study examines community participation in the development of cultural tourism in Kampung Batik Laweyan, Solo, as well as the factors that support and hinder such involvement. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation methods. The informants in this study include batik business actors, local community administrators, community leaders, government representatives, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) active in the field of cultural preservation and tourism. The results of the study show that community participation is divided into three main dimensions, namely economic, socio-cultural, and institutional. In the economic aspect, the community is involved through batik businesses, homestays, and tourism services. In the socio-cultural aspect, involvement can be seen from the preservation of local traditions and the implementation of cultural activities. Meanwhile, in the institutional aspect, participation can be seen from the active role of residents in decision-making forums related to tourism management. Factors driving participation include collective awareness of the importance of cultural preservation, the economic potential of the tourism sector, and support from the government, NGOs, and educational institutions. However, community participation still faces several obstacles such as lack of education on the concept of sustainable tourism, limited access to capital, and lack of coordination between interested institutions. Cross-sectoral collaboration efforts are needed between the community, government, the private sector, and educational institutions in realizing inclusive and sustainable cultural tourism management. Thus, Laweyan Batik Village can become a model for the development of cultural tourism destinations based on active community participation. The implications of these findings suggest that cultural tourism development policies should not only focus on increasing the number of tourist visits, but also on strengthening the capacity of local communities as key actors.
