This research is motivated by the lack of students' ability to compose observation report texts. Based on interviews conducted with previous Indonesian subject teachers, it is known that the cause of the low ability to compose observation report texts is because students find it difficult to express ideas, provide understanding and object details, choose the right diction, spelling and punctuation. Likewise interviews with several students, they stated that the text material of the observation report was quite difficult plus the learning that had been carried out was not interesting. Therefore, to improve the skills of compiling observation report texts, the Discovery learning model and the Exploration of the Surrounding Nature (JAS) method are used. Using Classroom Action Research (CAR), which is often used to improve learning processes and outcomes. The research subjects were class VII-10 students of SMPN 11 Medan. Based on the results of the description and analysis of the discussion of cycle 1 and cycle II data, students' abilities in the Observation Reports (LHO) material increased by 35%. It can be concluded that students' abilities have increased through the discovery model and the JAS method in compiling the text of the Observation Report (LHO).

This research is motivated by students' lack of interest in educational media during learning. Students feel bored and less motivated because the media used is only conventional, such as lecturing, relying on textbooks and modules, which result in low student knowledge. Powtoon learning videos, with their modern approach and visual-audio presentation, offer a solution. These videos feature animated cartoons, which address students' complaints about conventional learning methods. This research aims to understand the overview of the learning process, identify student needs, determine the steps for media development, assess the validity of the developed media, and examine the influence of the media on students' knowledge. The researcher employed the Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Data collection techniques included questionnaires, tests, interviews, observations, and data analysis. The study was conducted at SMPN 2 Kademangan, with eighth-grade classes D (control group) and E (experimental group) as research subjects. Data analysis was performed using quantitative and qualitative methods. The validation results from media experts, subject matter experts, and social studies teachers regarding the Powtoon media showed that it was suitable for use with minor revisions and had a significant impact on learning outcomes. The Sig value (2-tailed) was found to be 0.003, which is less than the significance level of 0.05. Education is an important component in a nation, if education is advanced then the nation will become strong and able to compete. On the other hand, if education is weak, it will be weak too. So that the teacher's role is so important in transforming educational inputs, student learning outcomes will then become one of the standard indicators determining the level of professionalism of a teacher. Therefore, the development of teacher professional competence is very important to do. The research approach used is a qualitative approach, which is carried out in certain settings in real life. Qualitative research is rooted in a natural setting as a whole, relying on humans as a research tool, utilizing qualitative methods, conducting inductive data analysis, directing the target to discovering theories from basic, descriptive. Teachers at SMAN 1 Manonjaya have sufficient professional competence in the average category. The condition of learning outcomes in general can be seen in the average anyway. The general objective description of the learning outcomes of students at SMAN 1 Manonjaya is seen from the results of the average school exam scores in the last 3 years. The learning process is certainly very dependent on the teacher who teaches. The more effective the learning process carried out by the teacher, of course it will have a positive impact on students which will also have an impact on the quality of graduates.
