Sleep disorders or insomnia refer to a condition where individuals struggle to achieve adequate sleep in terms of both quality and quantity. Insomnia sufferers often experience fatigue and drowsiness throughout the day due to a lack of optimal rest. Based on its duration, insomnia is classified into acute insomnia, lasting less than four weeks, and chronic insomnia, which persists for more than four weeks. One non-pharmacological approach to managing this issue is relaxation therapy, including the use of aromatherapy, which promotes a calming effect through pleasant scents. This community service program aims to provide awareness about the benefits of aromatherapy in managing insomnia. The methods used include health education, discussions, and Q&A sessions with participants. The target audience consisted of 12 elderly individuals experiencing sleep disturbances. The evaluation results indicated a significant improvement in participants' knowledge after the session, with 91.7% demonstrating a good understanding, while 8.3% had a moderate understanding of aromatherapy’s benefits. These findings suggest that educating the elderly on the use of aromatherapy for insomnia management positively impacts their awareness of relaxation therapy’s role in improving sleep quality. It is hoped that this method can be continuously promoted as an effective natural alternative to address sleep disorders.

Elderly individuals are vulnerable to various chronic diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disorders. Irregular or disrupted sleep patterns have been identified as key factors influencing the risk of chronic diseases in older adults. This study aims to examine the relationship between sleep patterns and the risk of chronic diseases in the elderly. A literature review method was employed by gathering data from relevant studies. The analysis indicates that sleep disturbances, such as insomnia and sleep apnea, increase the risk of chronic diseases due to disrupted bodily recovery processes and metabolism during sleep. Therefore, improving sleep patterns is a crucial intervention in preventing chronic diseases among the elderly.

Aging or getting old is a natural thing, which cannot be avoided and rejected by every living creature, including things that will happen to every human being. One of the most common diseases found in the elderly is hypertension, because age is one of the risk factors for hypertension because the arteries or blood vessels in the elderly tend to harden and lose their elasticity. This community service aims to provide information about laughter therapy as one of the non-pharmacologic therapies to lower blood pressure. Method: The implementation of this laughter therapy begins with an explanation of laughter therapy and is continued with a demonstration by team members after which all participants participate in carrying out laughter therapy. The implementation of laughter therapy begins with an explanation regarding laughter therapy and is continued with a demonstration by team members after which all participants take part in carrying out laughter therapy. When laughter therapy was given, there were changes in blood pressure, where 7 respondents (63.7%) of elderly people experienced a decrease in blood pressure, while 4 respondents (36.3%) of elderly people had stable blood pressure. The results of this community service can show that providing laughter therapy is effective in lowering blood pressure even though the implementation is short. The implementation of this therapy is easy to do by the elderly and is effective as a complementary therapy in treating hypertension.

Elderly people have a high risk of suffering from degenerative diseases, one of which is metabolic disorders. This is more widely recognized by the elderly when they are already in severe condition and with complications so that it has an impact on various aspects including increasing morbidity and mortality rates, as well as decreasing quality of life of the elderly and decreasing ability of the elderly to carry out daily activities. Metabolic disorders are caused by increased blood glucose levels in the body known as Diabetes Mellitus (DM) which is one of the health problems of the ten diseases that cause death and disability globally. The implementation of community service activities for Preventive Efforts for the Elderly in Diabetes Mellitus through several stages, namely the survey and field observation stages and counseling for Preventive Efforts for the Elderly in Diabetes Mellitus counseling is carried out for approximately 90 minutes, as well as evaluations in the form of pre-tests and post-tests. The provision of education was carried out on Wednesday, November 14, 2024 at the Antara Health Center, the number of participants was 32 people. Based on the results of the knowledge of the elderly before and after the counseling for Preventive Efforts for the Elderly in Diabetes Mellitus, it was found that 15 elderly people had sufficient knowledge and 17 elderly people had insufficient knowledge. After conducting counseling on Preventive Efforts for the Elderly in Diabetes Mellitus, the results obtained were a sufficient increase of 30 and less than 2 elderly. This means that community service on Preventive Efforts for the Elderly in Diabetes Mellitus is very effective in the elderly in order to prevent an increase in glucose levels. Counseling on preventive efforts for the elderly in diabetes regarding these degenerative diseases is very necessary so that the elderly maintain their health better. The elderly are expected to be able to understand about efforts to prevent and treat degenerative diseases in the elderly with diabetes. Hopefully this community service can be a reference for researchers and further community service, as well as the community.

Background: Aging leads to physical deterioration, which makes the elderly dependent on others for daily activities. One way to increase their independence is through physical activities such as elderly gymnastics. Regular participation in elderly gymnastics can restore physical function, improve joint, muscle, and movement coordination, and enhance heart function, leading to a healthier and fitter body. Method: The program began with a preparation stage, followed by elderly gymnastics training and counseling. This activity took place in one session, targeting both independent and assisted elderly individuals. The elderly gymnastics included basic exercises with a warm-up, core movements, and cooling down, lasting approximately 15-30 minutes. Afterward, an evaluation of the activity was conducted. Results: A total of 60 elderly individuals participated in the gymnastics session, which included warm-up, core, and cooling exercises. The participants appeared enthusiastic and easily followed the movements, especially with music accompaniment. However, some had difficulty with foot movements due to balance issues. After the gymnastics session, counseling was provided on the importance of doing elderly gymnastics independently. The elderly were very engaged during the counseling and asked several questions afterward. Conclusion: Elderly gymnastics can be incorporated as a routine activity in elderly health programs like posyandu, helping the elderly become more independent with a healthy and fit body. Regular participation in these exercises can improve their ability to perform daily activities independently.
