Low English proficiency remains a problem for the younger generation in Mimika Regency, particularly in speaking skills. Additionally, the flow of modernization influences the low appreciation of society, especially the younger generation, towards local culture, with the emergence of popular culture. This community service activity offers an English Storytelling Competition as a creative and innovative educational medium to integrate English competency and the preservation of the local culture of indigenous communities in Mimika Regency. This program used a collaborative approach/community-based participatory approach (CBPA) through community involvement in the planning, script preparation, workshops, competitions, and reflection stages, together with the utilization of existing local strengths and wisdom. The main purpose of this program is to encourage social change in the community, which includes: (1) increasing oral English skills in the young generation in Mimika. (2) the presence of awareness and pride in the importance of preserving local culture, and (3) the creation of a community environment that provides appreciation for local cultural products that grow together with global challenges. The results of the activity showed an increase in English communication skills, growing self-confidence in students, and the presence of creativity in interestingly packaging Amungme-Kamoro folklore. In addition, this activity brings a new awareness of the importance of preserving local culture, potential leaders who dare to appear in public, and presents a new institution in the form of a space competition that combines aspects of language and cultural education.

This community service program focuses on enhancing digital literacy, documenting cultural traditions, and developing integrated promotional media through the EthnoGring platform in Tlemang Cultural Tourism Village, Lamongan. The activities were conducted in collaboration with the local tourism group, Pokdarwis “Bukit Inggil,” through stages of needs assessment, digital literacy training, cultural content production and curation, platform development, and monitoring and evaluation. The results indicate that digitalization strengthens community capacity to manage tourism promotion while simultaneously safeguarding cultural heritage in the face of modernization. Cultural outputs such as documentaries, photographs of traditional rituals, interview transcripts with cultural figures, and an e-book on the Nyanggring tradition serve not only as promotional tools but also as efforts to conserve collective community knowledge. The integration of these outputs into the EthnoGring platform, equipped with public service and tourism information features, highlights the strategic role of digital innovation in supporting sustainable tourism village development. Early impacts include broader exposure of Tlemang’s cultural heritage, the emergence of local economic initiatives, and the establishment of a more adaptive community organization. Although challenges remain, particularly in digital infrastructure, collective engagement and institutional support serve as key foundations for sustainability. Therefore, EthnoGring contributes not only to cultural preservation but also to strengthening the social, economic, and institutional dimensions of sustainable tourism.

The documentary film “Pedal Waktu Jalanan Bandung” was a final project that explored a vintage bicycle community known as Paguyuban Sapedah Baheula Bandoeng (PSBB). The creation of this work is driven by a concern over the gradual disappearance of onthel bicycles amidst the wave of modernization in the city of Bandung. This project aimed to document the scriptwriting process of a documentary film by applying an expository narrative approach, in which the writer served as the scriptwriter. The film was developed through three main stages: pre- production, production, and post-production. During the pre-production phase, the writer conducted in-depth research and field observations, and developed a script framework, synopsis, treatment, and interview questions. The production phase involved filming, conducting interviews, and recording voice-over narration. Post- production included visual and audio editing as well as finalizing the distribution through the YouTube platform. The final result was a documentary that not only delivered historical information but also raised emotional awareness about the importance of preserving traditional values. In conclusion, the application of an expository narrative successfully strengthened the storytelling structure and provided a deeper understanding of the vintage bicycle community in Bandung.
