This study examines syntax, a branch of linguistics that investigating the structure and rules for constructing larger components such as words, phrases, clauses, and sentences. The focus of this article is on analyzing sentences found in opinion texts. The primary goal is to evaluate the effectiveness of sentences in opinion articles from the January 2025 edition of "Harian Jogja" as instructional materials for reading comprehension, particularly regarding word choice and punctuation. A qualitative descriptive method is employed, with a syntactic theoretical framework. The data presented is based on the analysis of sentence effectiveness in the opinion texts from the January 2025 edition of "Harian Jogja." Data collection includes listening and note-taking techniques, while the analysis uses the Aghigh technique. The data is informally presented in tables that highlight ineffective sentences along with their corrections. The study of three opinion texts from the "Harian Jogja" website in January 2025 resulted in a total of 147 sentences, with 118 effective and 16 ineffective sentences. Specifically, in the opinion article titled "Ethics and Productivity of Generation Z," 37 sentences were effective and 5 were ineffective; in "The Rise of Online Purchasing Fraud," 55 sentences were effective and 15 were ineffective; and in "Going through Digital Transformation: Recruitment Challenges in Banking," 26 sentences were effective and 9 were ineffective. This study aims to help distinguish between effective and ineffective sentences in texts.

An Anthology of Opinions Towards a Healthy Indonesia and Optimal State Revenue through Tobacco Excise Policy Reform contains ideas related to tobacco excise policy in supporting public health and optimizing state revenue. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of sentences in a collection of opinion pieces about a healthy Indonesia and optimal state revenue through tobacco excise policy reform. In conducting the research, the authors used a methodological approach in the form of a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection with this method is done using reading and recording techniques. This research uses text analysis techniques with a qualitative descriptive analysis approach as a data analysis technique. Based on the analysis that has been carried out on Bunga Rampai Collection of Opinions Towards a Healthy Indonesia and Optimal Revenue through Tobacco Excise Policy Reform, 11 effective sentences have been found. Meanwhile, errors related to EYD and KBBI were also found with details in the form of 16 ineffective sentences, 31 ambiguous sentences, 5 sentences with capitalization errors, 12 sentences with nonstandard words, and 18 sentences with other types of errors. In addition to being used as a reference for analyzing sentence effectiveness, this research is also useful for enriching the study of tobacco excise policy communication, especially for RPJM 2025-2029 policymakers. In addition, this research can also be used as a reference for further research related to sentence effectiveness.

The use of effective sentences in academic communication is essential, especially in essay writing that contains various legal arguments. Essays should employ proper sentence structures to clearly conver ideas and persuade readers. This study aims to analyze ineffective sentence constructions found in the Kumpulan Esai Kritis NACE Competition 2021 published on thr LK2 FHUI website as educational reading material. The research method used is descriptive qualitative and theoretical. Data collection was carried out using observation and note-taking techniques by analyzing various types of errors in the essay texts. The data collection process followed four steps: (1) data collection, (2) data analysis, (3) discussion, and (4) conculusion and recommendation. The results show that many ineffective sentences are still found in the essays, such as punctuation errors, wordiness, inappropriate use of foreign terms, improper word choices, and excessive repetition. These errors negatively impact the clarity and persuasiveness of the messages and arguments within the essays. This research is expected to contribute to improving essay writing quality and the development of more effective academic literacy.

To ensure effective message delivery, the sentences in expository texts must be clear, concise, and easily understood, preventing any misinterpretation by the public as the readers. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effectiveness of sentences in expository text on a healthy lifestyle published on alodokter.com from January-June 2024 as part of public health education efforts. The effectiveness of sentences is assessed based on several aspects, including structure and grammar, word choice, clarity of information and readability for the general public. This research employes a qualitative descriptive approach and a syntactic approach as its theoretical framework. Data collection techniques involve the observe and note method. Data analysis is conducted using the distributional method (agih technique) to examine syntactic structure and sentence coherence, as well as the referential method (padan technique) to evaluate meaning clarity and reads comprehension. The research process is carried out in three steps: (1) data collection, (2) data analysis, and (3) presentation of research findings. The research object consists of expository text on online health portals discussing healthy lifestyles. Several articles are selected and analyzed in depth. The data presentation technique in this research uses formal and informal methods. The analysis result reveal the ineffectiveness of several sentences in the expository texts, particularly in terms of their inconsistency with the characteristics of effective sentences, such as unity, coherence, emphasis, and conciseness. The result of this study contribute to a deeper comprehension of the topic being explored. Furthermore, the study is beneficial for the public as a form of health education and awareness.

This type of study is qualitative with a descriptive method; the technique for collecting data is using the listening and note-taking technique. The results of this study indicate that there are still several sentences that are not effective, so that readers have difficulty capturing their contents properly. Effective sentences meet requirements such as the economy of words, commensurate structure, logical language, and careful reasoning. Meanwhile, ineffective sentences occur because the structure of the sentence does not show unity, is wasteful of words or long-winded explanations, and lacks clarity in conveying information. The benefits of this study, in practice, are that it makes it easier for readers to determine the effectiveness of sentences in a collection of opinions. This study took data in the form of ineffective sentences contained in a collection of opinions for statistical literacy, the November 2024 edition of critical reading teaching materials for high school students.

The article “Sejarah Dunia” (World History), October 2024 edition on sejarahkita.com, was chosen as the object of research because of its relevance as a medium that can provide historical information in a clear and interesting way. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effectiveness of sentences in articles that are directed at history education, which not only focus on facts but also on the development of critical thinking skills. The method used is descriptive qualitative with listening and recording techniques. The author analyzes the sentence structure, word choice, coherence between sentences, and the chronological flow of the article using distributional and matching methods. The collected data will be tabulated to identify syntactic errors, accuracy of diction, and spelling. The findings show that the article contains a number of shortcomings in sentence structure, where the message conveyed is less clear. However, in some ways, the article also succeeds in conveying an informative and relevant history. This study will provide benefits and insights into effective sentences in historical articles to provide a basis for readers to understand various suggestions and models for progressive learning oriented towards critical thinking. In addition, this study also provides added value by preserving historical values through an easy and interesting presentation.

The purpose of this article is to explain the values ​​of Islamic religious education contained in the Ari Ana Mahun tradition in the people of Negeri Kilkoda, Gorom Island District, East Seram Regency. A unique tradition called Ari Ana Mahun or children's maulid is found in Negeri Kilkoda, Gorom Islands, East Seram Regency. Different from the usual commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad's birthday, this tradition is carried out 15 days before the month of Ramadan as a form of respect for children or family members who have died. The community believes that prayers and prepared food will make the spirits happy, as well as being a medium for maintaining Islamic cultural heritage. This tradition is carried out once a year and is passed down from generation to generation. In addition to being a form of respect, Ari Ana Mahun is a means of education for the community to preserve Islamic traditions and strengthen religious values. These values ​​are instilled from generation to generation so that the community maintains their cultural and spiritual identity. This paper aims to describe the values ​​of Islamic education contained in it. The research uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of collection, reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results indicate that this tradition involves determining the date, preparing traditional food, visiting graves, decorating the containers, reciting prayers together, giving alms to children, and planting a raung (a symbol of Islam) at the graves. The Islamic educational values ​​contained include monotheism, worship, morals, silaturahmi (silaturahmi), instilling religious values ​​from an early age, and preserving Islamic culture.

Bedil Island is one of the new tourist destinations that is developing and starting to be known to the wider community, especially through online media coverage. Through a qualitative approach with a literature study method, this study examines two promotional articles about Bedil Island tourism published by different local sites. The results of the analysis show that the language strategies used include the use of metaphors, local origin narratives, strong visual descriptions, and the insertion of quantitative data to build the credibility of the information. Phrases such as “Banyuwangi's Raja Ampat” and “hidden natural lagoon” play an important role in building the reader's imagination of the beauty and exclusivity of Bedil Island. The representation of the image of Bedil Island is also formed through a combination of emotional, ecological, and rational aspects presented in the text. This study shows that the language in promotional articles is not neutral, but is used strategically to shape the perception and image of the destination in the minds of the audience. Therefore, understanding the use of language in tourism promotion is important, especially in the context of sustainable local tourism development.

Understanding skills in this context include the ability to recognize text structure, analyze content, and interpret formal language styles. The study used a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection methods in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study showed that group discussion strategies and repeated reading with gradual understanding proved effective in improving students' understanding of Arabic letters and reports. This strategy not only improves students' linguistic abilities, but also encourages cooperation, self-confidence, and critical thinking skills. This study is expected to contribute to the development of more contextual and effective Arabic language learning methods, especially in understanding formal texts.

According to the research findings, various aspects of students lives are influenced by social media including learning behavior, social interactions, and communication patterns. Student interact more digitally than face to face, which can recude the quality of social relationships and increase risks such as anxiety, stress, and cyberbullying.
