The history of Islam in Indonesia is a long journey that begins with trade and Da'wah. Trade interaction between the archipelago and the Islamic world has occurred since the 2nd century BC, bringing the influence of Islam. With literature studies where research methods with the collection, learning, and analysis of written sources that are books, journals, articles, documents, related to the topic of research. New Islamic Da'wah developed rapidly in the 11th and 12th centuries AD by peaceful means and cultural acculturation. The spread of Islam was done through trade and intelligent and peaceful da'wah. Muslim traders used strategies of marriage, the liberation of slaves, and the use of property to help society. Islam had a major impact on the development of language and culture, with Malay evolving into a lingua franca and many words taken from Arabic. The wali and ulama, such as Wali Songo, spread Islam with a socio-cultural approach. They use an approach that is appropriate to the culture and customs of the local community, and combines elements of local culture with Islamic teachings. This effort resulted in a unique and distinctive Islamic tradition and culture in Indonesia.
