Dinamika Perkembangan Bank Syariah di Indonesia

This study aims to analyze the factors hindering the growth of Islamic banks and explore the opportunities for Islamic banking in Indonesia. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, utilizing literature review as the data collection technique. The findings indicate that factors influencing the development of Islamic banks in Indonesia include public understanding of the Islamic banking system, availability of qualified human resources, adequate capital, supportive factors such as the number of branch offices, and the development of information and technology systems. Moreover, significant opportunities exist for the expansion of Islamic banking, such as regulatory support from the government, particularly through Law No. 10 of 1998 and Law No. 21 of 2008, as well as support from Bank Indonesia. The presence of a majority Muslim population, the financing needs of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector, and the influence of the global Islamic economic movement are also driving factors for the growth of Islamic banking in Indonesia. This study provides insights into the factors influencing and the opportunities available in the development of Islamic banking in Indonesia, serving as a guide for stakeholders in formulating policies and strategies to support the Islamic banking industry in the future.
