Abstract
This article presents the purpose of this research to discuss the correlation of zakat and tax as an economic development. The research methods used in analyzing this problem are library research and interviews through social media. In addition, to determine the results of the analysis the author also adds the results of discussions with parties relevant to the theme which are then analyzed and examined in depth on the references used in the research. This research explains about zakat is always correlated with tax in the realization of economic development. The results of this study show that the position of zakat and tax is a unity that can be used as a potential source to alleviate poverty and can also be used as capital for the poor so that they can open jobs. It can also be utilized as an economic reserve when consumption ability stagnates. The implementation of the essence of zakat optimally will connect the gap for the rich and the poor. Same as tax, zakat is part of the source of state financial income and expense. That is why the relationship of tax and zakat is very relevant.
