The Naval Academy is one of the state educational institutions that also contributes to the preservation of mangrove forests in Indonesia, especially in the Surabaya area and its surroundings in order to maintain the coastal ecosystem and prevent abrasion. In addition, this mangrove forest can also be used as a training facility for cadets, especially Marine Corps Cadets, in order to prepare Marine Corps Cadets to become a platoon commander, and can train their combat instincts and support the main task of the Naval Academy in producing responsive, agile and agile young officers. One of the efforts to utilize the mangrove forest area is to use it as a training facility called the Swamp Combat Laboratory which aims to improve the combat instincts of Marine Corps Cadets. This is in accordance with the many fields of assignment that the Marine Corps often faces, which are special fields such as swamps, seas, rivers and beaches, where in carrying out assignment operations in these special fields requires instincts and combat abilities, both individual and group, that are professional and trained. With the existence of these training facilities, it can be useful in improving the combat instincts of Marine Corps Cadets and be ready to face various assignments throughout the territory of the Republic of Indonesia.
